ADAM, Linda J. of Calgary, AB and formerly of Salmon Arm, BC
Linda Adam, 56, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2019, surrounded by loved ones at Foothills hospital in Calgary.
She was deeply dedicated to her children, and loved her family above all else.
Linda was born in Calgary on Nov. 1, 1962, and was raised in Salmon Arm, B.C., before later moving back to the city of her birth. She was a self starter and entrepreneur, undertaking many business ventures throughout her life. She was passionate about her career in sales, and continued to work as her health declined. When Linda wasn’t at work, she loved to dote on her pets and spend time with loved ones.
She is survived by her sons, Ira and Sean; her nieces Rychelle and Jenn, nephew Shaun, and their children; as well as her beloved extended family and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her father Walter Hanson, and sister Susan Berg.
A memorial will be held at James River Community Hall in Sundre at Range Road 53, James River Bridge, on March 2, from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Donations can be made in Linda’s memory to support her sons through a GoFundMe titled “Linda’s Battle Of A Lifetime, ” or to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre who cared for Linda.

Peacefully at Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, formerly of Lucan at the age of 100. Beloved wife of the late Carl G. Banting (1997). Loving mother of sons Charles (Debra) Banting of Lower Five Islands, Nova Scotia, Richard (Cherie) Banting of Tilden Lake, Ontario, and mother-in-law of Hildi Banting of Victoria, British Columbia. Loving grandmother of Tamara, Alyssa, Christopher, and May. Great-grandmother of Lauren, and Katelyn. Dear sister of Shirley Douglas of Mitchell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son David (1994), sister Dorothy Vogan and her husband Rev. Lindsay Vogan, brother Bryce Skinner and his wife Florence, sister Beth Ferguson and her husband Ian, and brother-in-law Cameron Douglas.
Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Friday evening from 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held at Villages United Church, 34500 Granton Line, Granton, on Saturday, February 16th at 11 AM with Pastor Paul Vollick officiating. Interment Ebenezer Cemetery, North Middlesex.

TONY NOVAK
Tony Novak passed away on Feb 7, 2019, at age 80. He was born on September 22, 1938, in Stepanovka, Poland. He was predeceased by his parents Jerry and Anna (Valasek) Novak, brother George, and two nephews, David Terekoff and Dr. James Terekoff of Swan River, Manitoba.
In 1949 the family moved to Canada and settled in Minitonas, Manitoba. He began his insurance career in Winnipeg and in 1970 he transferred to Vancouver.
Tony joined Cory Agencies Ltd. (Westland Insurance) in Ladner and moved on to work with Envision Insurance in 1995. Tony was grateful for his many customers whom he had the privilege of serving, remembering them often. He reluctantly retired on December 31, 2005. During retirement he worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
One of his passions was ushering in numerous churches where he attended. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Delta Association for the Mentally Handicapped, and the Evergreen Baptist Home in White Rock. He was a member of the Ladner Business Association, and the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association. In retirement he joined the Langley Camp of the Gideons, serving God by distributing Bibles.
Tony is survived by Ruth, his loving wife of 50 years, daughter Charleen MacCulloch, son Jeremy Novak, and sister Doreen (Peter) Terekoff.
Tony Novak’s Celebration of Life will be on Friday, February 15, at 1pm.

JOHNSON, Mathew (Mat) Dillen of Vancouver BC.
Sept 20, 1979 – January 1, 2019
It is with great sorrow that we the family of Mathew (Mat) Dillen Johnson announce the sudden death of our beloved son, brother and friend on January 1st 2019 in Vancouver BC. He was 39 years old.
Mathew was a talented artist who portrayed his love of nature and animals through his art. Throughout his life he worked as a bicycle mechanic for Reckless Cycle and then moved into construction where he became an apprentice crane operator.
Mathew had a deep love for animals. He had many beloved pets throughout his life that gave him great joy and cherished companionship. Mat was happiest when he was surrounded by nature and enjoying the outdoors with his family, friends and his pets. He loved biking, hiking, fishing, canoeing, 4x4ing climbing, snowboarding and anything else that involved the mountains, wilderness or water.
Mathew grew up Hope BC, Summerland BC, Oliver BC and Calgary AB.
He leaves behind many family members and friend who loved him and will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his Mother Clare Amanda Durant (Kevin Hemmingson) and father Neil Sheridan Johnson, his son Dillen Garcia-Johnson and his daughter Teegan Michelle Johnson and step-daughter Nike Garcia, his sister Jolene Kelly Johnson (Mike Ha) and his brother Alan Ryan Johnson ( Nicole Schindelka), his paternal grandfather Malcolm DeVerne Johnson, and maternal grandfather Paul le Clair Durant, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
He is pre-deceased by his paternal grandmother Joan B. Johnson and maternal grandmother Virginia Hope Durant.
So many lost days we can never get back.
There will be a camping memorial for Mathew in June held in Manning Park BC.

LOCHHEAD, C. Frederick “Fred” – Of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, in his 91st year. Beloved husband for 61 years to the late Sheila (née Palmer) Lochhead (2013). Dearly loved father of Kathy Kewley (Harold) of St. Thomas, Gregory Lochhead of Osoyoos, BC, Karen Walton (Robert) of Embro, and Chris Lochhead (Tamara) of Westbridge, BC. Proud grandfather of Dr. Kathryn Walton-Venus (Dr. Kevin Venus), Emily Walton (Jack Doris), and Rachel Walton. Also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Hinch, and by a brother, Herb Lochhead. Born in Centreville, ON, June 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Donald and Mabel (née Lewis) Lochhead. Fred was a retired pharmacist with Ayerst-Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. He was a former active member for over 50 years of the St. Thomas Curling Club, an enthusiastic golfer at the Belmont Golf Club, and was an accomplished bowler. Fred was also an avid reader and gardener. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (Date and time to be announced), followed by interment in South Park Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario will be gratefully acknowledged. Dad’s favourite quote was, “If you don’t do it, when you get to it, you may never get to it, to do it again.”

COUCKUYT, Mary Emma (Murphy): Passed away peacefully, in her 92nd year, on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall, On., formerly of Grand Bend. Beloved mother of son George (Brenda) Couckuyt of Grand Bend and daughter Donna McQueen of Surrey, B.C. Cherished grandma of Hannah McQueen of Surrey, B.C. Special Aunt of Chris Liddiard of Bayfield and Kim Bishop of St. Thomas. Also survived by her sister Anna Touesnard of Cape Breton. Predeceased by her husband Cyril (1994), sisters Muriel Burley of Goderich, Frances Bishop of Grand Bend, Theresa Murphy, Margaret Hilton and Catherine MacInnis, along with her brothers Peter, Ernest, William, Joseph and John Murphy all of Nova Scotia. Emma travelled to Ontario when she was just 17 to live with her sister Muriel in the Thedford marsh area, where she met and married Cy. A proud Mother and creative homemaker she was happiest in her kitchen cooking and baking for family and friends. Emma has been a member of the Catholic Women’s League at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Grand Bend for over 50 years. Emma’s family would like to extend a special Thank-you to the Nurses and Staff at Queensway for their compassionate care. At Emma’s request, cremation has taken place. WILLIAMS, Gayle Linda (nee WAINWRIGHT) of Beaumont, Alberta
January 15, 1956 to January 22, 2019
Gayle passed away peacefully due to complications from Huntington’s Disease on January 22, 2019 at the age of 63 years. Her final days were filled with love and support from her family and many friends.
Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Gordon; daughters Lindsay (Fenton), Brittany (Jeremy), and Kelcey; grandchildren Kaleigh, Bentley, Kellan, Emily and an upcoming grandchild; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is predeceased by her sons Michael and Daniel, parents Bob and Gerry Wainwright, and sister Joanne Best.
A Memorial Service will be held at Beaumont Community Church, 5423 – 55 Street, Beaumont, AB on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. The family would ask that those in attendance try to incorporate red in their attire as it was Gayle’s favorite color.
