Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Monday, November 26th, 2018; Richard Arvid Dewing went home to the Lord at the age of 70. Dear husband of Lynn Dewing (neé Bain). Proud father of Laura (Curtis) Sheena, Zapherah Dewing, Danny Dewing, Jesse Dewing and Jennifer (Garrett) Martindale. Cherished grandfather of Roxanne, Jorden, Jessica, Faith, Emma and James. Survived by his brother Tom Dewing. Loving stepfather of Celeste (David) Pennington and Brook (Karli) Childerhose and step-grandfather of Rowan and Brennan.
Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Eva Dewing and sister Betty Dewing.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 30th, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. in Lumby Cemetery followed by a Memorial Gathering at Grace Bible Church of Vernon, 5661 Silver Star Rd, Vernon, BC at 2 p.m. Richard’s favourite charity was the Voice of the Martyrs, if anyone wishes to make a donation in his memory.
Lewicki (nee Fischer), Myrna Pauline
After a hard fought battle with COPD, our beloved mom/grams/aunt, Myrna Lewicki (nee Fischer) passed away peacefully Thursday, November 22nd, 2018 at Cascades Hospice in Chilliwack. She was our rock…..and she kept us together as a family in her final week.
Daughter of Paul and Agnes Fischer. Beloved mom of daughter, Debbie Smith, son Dean Lewicki and daughter-in-law Beth Phillips. Cherished Grams of Kyle Smith, Chelsea and Brianna Lewicki – they will desperately miss their Grams.
It was Myrna’s wishes that there be no service – just a private family celebration. As a family, we honored all of her wishes while she was in hospice care and we will continue to honor her wishes after her passing.
Our family would like to express such immense gratitude to the incredible home care workers at Chartwell Lynnwood – Janice and Carla, and the Palliative Care nurses and doctor at Cascades Hospice in Chilliwack. Specifically – Eloise, Erica and Dr Eydt. We could not have asked for a better end of life journey for our mom/grams.

ARTHUR, Diane Catherine, Kingston, Ontario.
It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Catherine (Maudsley) Arthur announces her passing after a brief illness, on Friday, November 16th, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Diane was predeceased by her husband of 30 years Artur Zylinski Arthur (retired Prof Psychology Queen’s University) and later, her partner, for 22 years Jack Jeffrey. Predeceased by her Sister Valerie and Niece Helen. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Peter and Richard (Sandra) and fondly remembered by her three grandchildren, Alexandre, Edouard and Nathaniel, and nephew Colin Hughes as well as many other family members and friends in Canada, UK and New Zealand.
Born to Helen and James Harold Maudsley in Liverpool, 1936, Diane studied for her PhD Psychology in London, UK, where she met her husband. Diane and Artur move to New Zealand in 1963 where they made lifelong friends and both their sons were born. In 1966 the family emigrated to Canada as Artur secured a Professorship at Queen’s University, Kingston, ON. Diane worked as a Psychologist at the Child Psychiatry Unit at Kingston General and at Hotel Dieu as well as in private practice with Dr Philip Carney, PhD. During her career she helped many youth and their families as well as mentoring Grad students.
Diane was a generous supporter of various charities including the The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), Children’s Home (Khokana), Nepal, and Orangutan Charities and many more.
In retirement Diane enjoyed the friendships made at the Kingston Seniors Association and found another family and friends out in Yarker and at Yarker Free Methodist Church.
Those wishing to pay their respects may visit James Reid Funeral Home on Thursday, November 22 between 2.00 – 4.00 pm and 6.00 – 8.00 pm
A Funeral Service in memory of Diane will be held on Friday, November 23, 11.00 am at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston ON K7M 7H3.
Interment will follow in the family plot at Cataraqui Cemetery and a final farewell and celebration of her life back at the James Reid Funeral Home.

KELLY, Karen Ann of Victoria, British Columbia
February 1, 1961 to November 10, 2018
It is with extreme sorrow that we announce the passing of Karen Kelly. Karen passed peacefully after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her family. Loving daughter of Phylis and the late Harry Kelly of Cobourg, Ontario. Sister to Barry (Tenley), Michael (Christianne), Peter (Sandi). Aunt to Alex and Drew Kelly. Karen leaves many loving aunts and uncles including Marleen Bull, Mary Murray and Cathy & Albert Davidson. Karen also has many cousins including Linda Anderson, who supported Karen on her journey.
Karen grew up in Cobourg, Ontario and enjoyed many activities including: figure skating, skiing, camping, Brownies, Guides, and she was a lifeguard at the Y. As an adult she took up golf. After high school she became involved with the Canada World Youth organization living with a family in Montreal, before travelling to Senegal, West Africa, where she spent a few months. Upon her return, Karen attended York University and completed her BA at Trent University. After University she went to Tadoussac, Quebec where she taught English.
Karen moved to British Columbia in 1992, first to Vancouver and later Victoria, where she worked in a variety of fields and pursued a variety of interests. She led an active lifestyle hiking, camping, canoeing, sailing and biking; she biked across Canada (with her rabbit in tow – literally) and she biked south to California and down the Baja peninsula. She was an active volunteer with Greenpeace and several animal rescue organizations for dogs and rabbits.
Thank you to the many loving and caring friends who were a supportive family to Karen in Victoria when she became ill. Many thanks to the caring staff of Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Karen is welcome to donate to any animal rescue society, humane society or charity of their choice. A private service will be held at a later date in Cobourg, Ontario.

MYLAN, Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, Marcia “Marci” Elaine (Desjardine) (Isard) Mylan, of Grand Bend, formerly of Reno, Nevada, age 73. Beloved wife of the late Doug Isard and the late Tom Mylan. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Tom Mylan and Annaliese Griffin of Vermont. Loved grandma of Lester and Olive. Forever loved daughter of Norma (Jennison) (Desjardine) Walper of Grand Bend and the late Iray Desjardine (1977). Dear sister and sister-in-law of Mona and Dave Hunt of Winnipeg, MB, the late Jim (2011) and Judy Desjardine of London, Nancy and John Pritchard of Vancouver Island, BC, Mark and Angie Desjardine of Centralia. Remembered by her step-brother Don Walper of Dashwood, aunt Ruby and Bruce Stanlake of Grand Bend, many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her step-father Lloyd Walper (2012). At Marci’s request, cremation has taken place. At this time, no formal services will be held. A Celebration of Marci’s Life will be held at a later date, location, date and time to be announced. URRUTIA, Norma Bilugan of New Westminster
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Bilugan Urrutia, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, on the early morning of December 13, 2015 in New Westminster, British Columbia at the age of 73 years old. Norma was born on May 30, 1942 in Daet, Camarines, Norte, Philippines. Predeceased by her parents Esteban and Lorenza Bilugan, Norma will always be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Mario Gamboa Urrutia; as well as her daughters Celia (with her husband Vener) and daughter Juliet (with her husband Jim).
Norma will also be tenderly remembered by her four granddaughters: Tayler, Kyra, Devyn and Jaidyn. The second eldest of eight, Norma will be dearly missed by her sisters and brothers, and their families; Lilia (Angelo – deceased) Jimenez Jr.; Librada (deceased) (Renato – deceased) Domingo; Ricardo (Tessie) Bilugan; Gloria (Emil – deceased) Albano; Lamberto (deceased); (Aresenia) Bilugan; Elizabeth (Danilo) Trias; Wilfredo Bilugan; as well as many other family members and friends. Norma immigrated to Canada in 1972 along with her husband Mario and first daughter, Celia.
At that time, Norma was pregnant with her second daughter, Juliet, where they all settled as a family in Winnipeg, Manitoba in the hopes of a promising start as Canadian citizens. She, along with her husband, then retired to beautiful British Columbia. Norma touched the lives of everyone as a kind and loving woman, who quietly lived a life filled with travel, Hawaii being one of her most favorite destination spots.
She enjoyed spending time with her four granddaughters, and taught them many talents such as baking and cross-stitching. Norma, a selfless woman, gave such unconditional love to her family, which we all treasured every single day. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Royal Columbian Hospital – Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU), for the gentle care given to our mother.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 6pm to 10pm at Valley View Funeral Home – 14660 72nd Avenue, Surrey, B.C. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015, 11:30am at Saint Bernadette Parish – 6543 132nd Street, Surrey, B.C followed by the Interment at the Gardens of Gethsemani – 15800 32nd Street, Surrey, B.C.
BERRY, Arlene of Abbotsford Formerly of Hillsborough
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Berry on January 23, 2018 in Abbotsford, BC. After a lengthy illness, she passed away peacefully with her loving and devoted husband Al by her side.
Arlene (Hunter) Berry was born April 28, 1941 in Alberta, the daughter of the late Theodore (Ted) and Sarah Hunter. She was raised on their family farm near Edwell, Alberta and always loved sharing stories of life on the farm. Arlene always had a smile for everyone and loved a good game and a good laugh. She was very proud of her many years spent working for the Hudson Bay Company at several locations. Over the years, Arlene lived in many places throughout Alberta and BC, but most of all she treasured her memories of time spent at their winter home in Arizona, where she will be missed by many friends. She was also active in the First Baptist Church of Sun Lakes in Sun Lakes, AZ, and Northview Community Church in Abbotsford, BC.
Arlene was known for her positive attitude, her independence and her willingness to lend a hand. Arlene loved her Edmonton Oilers and was able to be there for many of their biggest moments in the 80’s, and her fiery passion showed most when her team was playing. Arlene loved music and loved to sing and in her last years it was the music that gave us the ability to connect with her. She maintained a happiness that shone through her entire illness.
She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 36 years, Albert (Al) W. Berry who provided such amazing care for her through her final years. She leaves behind a beloved daughter Valerie (Johanson) Lester (Ed) of Red Deer, AB. She loved her five grandchildren dearly and will be missed by Tyler and Sara Lester of Red Deer, AB, as well as Ryan, Jared and William Berry of Hillsborough, NB. She also will be deeply missed by her stepchildren, Kevin Berry (Brenda) of Hillsborough, NB and Kenda Berry (Eric Lavoie) of Saint-Édouard-de-Kent, NB, as well as her sister Loretta (Bunny) Burling (Wayne) of Okotoks, AB, and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Charles (Chuck) Johanson.
There will be no visiting hours or funeral, but celebrations of life will take place with family and friends at later dates. For those who choose to make a memorial in Arlene’s memory, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and residents at MSA Manor and several special friends for the care given to Arlene (and to Al). The support and kindness shown was greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
