WIEBE – Anne E. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the age of 66. Survived by her loving husband John; daughter Heather Goossen (Vic); son Robert all of Kelowna; two grandchildren: Benjamin and Sarah; two sisters: Martha Willms (Vern) of Kelowna, Nellie Janzen (Walter) of Abbotsford; one brother Elmer Wiebe (Judy) of Chilliwack; and she also leaves numerous friends. Even though Anne fought poor health for many years, her indelible spirit let her take on life with much joy and enthusiasm. Living on an apple farm, gardening, and everything else that goes with that were common place in her life. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. McAulay, Vinie (2004-08-04)
MCAULAY - Alvina (Vinie) August 21, 1917 – August 4, 2004. Vinie McAulay passed away peacefully at the Kelowna General Hospital in the early morning of August 4, 2004. Vinie had beaten back cancer in 2002 and had enjoyed almost two years at her new home in Kelowna when the cancer returned and took her swiftly. She was 86. Vinie was born in Victoria, Newfoundland and grew up surrounded by a large extended family. She worked for several years in St. John’s where she met Elmer McAulay during the war and married him in 1946. They settled in Calgary and raised four children: David (Janie), Judy (Jim Harnden), Scott (Karen) and Jill. Vinie was a long-time member of Grace Presbyterian Church, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the 18th Scout Hall and could always be counted on to canvas for the Salvation Army and the Heart & Stroke Fund. She played bridge and bowled regularly until her illness in 2002 and was still knitting for church sales and wrestling with the morning crossword puzzle when she passed. Along with her children, Vinie is deeply missed by her sister Betty (Sandy) Carter, her sister’s-in-law: Sue, Anna, Christine and Linda Cole, her grandchildren of whom she was so proud: Darci Klug (David), Josie Jessie, Sarah and Lauren McAulay, Cori Stacy (Skylar), Kate and Ben Harnden, her two precious great-grandchildren: Daniel and Braelynn, many caring nieces and nephews and all her friends from Calgary whom she missed so much with her recent move. Vinie was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Elmer, in 1999; her brothers: Winston, Arthur, Fred, Leonard and Nath; and in-laws: Ethel Cole, Jack and Vera McAulay, Gertrude and Ernie Johnson, Orma and Clyde Paul. A time of visitation will take place on Monday, August 9th from 11:00 am to 12 noon at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, followed by a Memorial Service on Monday, August 9th at 2:00 pm at the St. Paul’s United Church, 3131 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna, B.C. with Reverend Wayne Laurie officiating. MILLER - Suzanne went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 9, 2004 at the age of 78. Survived by her loving family, two daughters: Barbara Wilson (John Piwniuk), Susan Popoff (Rob LaRose) all of Kelowna; four grandchildren: Chelsea, Amanda (Allan Vanderheide), Kayla and Joshua; sister Therese Ducharme of Sherbrooke, Quebec; sister-in-law Edna Duquette of Belleville, Ontario; and extended family. Predeceased by her husband Bill in 1995. A warm and kind spirit, Suzanne dedicated her life to her husband and her two girls and then her grandchildren. She was committed to the church and to the friends she held dear. She was a hard worker and retired from Woolworth’s only when her health failed. DYCK - A.R. (Al) went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 6, 2004 at the age of 61. Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Anne; four daughters: Lorelei Ann Dyck, Suzanne Johnson, Dianne Panio (Rob), Joanne Flood (Joe) all of Kelowna; six grandchildren: Matthew, Thomas, Emma, James, Joel and Joshua; mother-in-law Esther Tjosvold of Kelowna; four brothers: Ed Dyck (Carol) of La Crete, AB, Art Dyck (Marge) of Red Deer, AB, Bill Dyck (Pat) of Edmonton, AB, Tim Dyck (Akiko) of Oita, Japan; three sisters: Diana Rilling (Clarence) of Alberta Beach, AB, Doreen Dunstall (Robin) of Gunn, AB, Debbie Tsujita (Katsunori) of Oita, Japan; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and brother Bob Dyck. Al was born in Coaldale, AB, in 1942 to William and Mary Dyck, the second of nine children. He grew up in the Edmonton area where he met Anne and married her in 1961. He graduated from SAIT with his Sheetmetal journeyman ticket in 1962. After working in several centers, he and Anne were happy to choose Kelowna as their home in 1968. He started A. R. Dyck Heating and Air Conditioning in that same year and operated it successfully for over 30 years. During that time many deep and enduring friendships brought him joy. He loved traveling and shared this love with his family. In 1986 they purchased a small hobby farm and have enjoyed new building projects, refinishing old vehicles and most of all spending time with his grandchildren since his retirement in 1999. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday August 13, 2004 at 1:00 pm from Trinity Baptist Church, 1905 Springfield Road. Private family interment will take place in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. LEPARGNEUX – Margaret Delores LePargneux, long time resident of Kelowna left us on her long awaited journey, planned by God, to be reunited with her loving husband Gordon after 51 years of marriage and her entire family of sisters: Joey (Henry) Zado, Mary (Frank) Gross, Lucille (Joseph) Campbell, brothers: Frank (Cecelia) Trenzek, Sid (Joan) Terenzek and Al (Muriel) Trenzek. Survived by her sister in law Marion (Alan) Burbank, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Margaret was born in Spring Valley, SK, but left, at an early age, for Victoria, B.C. to pursue a nursing career. Until recently Margaret enjoyed many activities. She was very devoted in her church, and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 40 years. She loved the outdoors and she and her husband were ardent fishing buddies. Margaret loved gardening, and was always surrounded with beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed her home, and playing bridge with many of her friends. She also derived great pleasure in cooking and entertaining, a great hostess and was prepared at any time to welcome unexpected guests for a meal or just a social visit. Actually she devoted her entire life to pleasing others with warmth, gentleness and generosity – she would often say, - This is a journey we all must take, and we each must go alone – it’s all a part of the “Master’s Plan.” A step on the road home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 21, 2004 at 11:00 am from St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 750 Rutland Road North. Interment to follow in St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery.
