LEWIS, G.R. (Joe) Friday, 13 Aug 2004
May 1, 1934 - Aug. 13, 2004
Born George Richardson in Summerland, May 1, 1934, “Poppa” Joe passed away quietly on the morning of Aug. 13, 2004 at 100 Mile District General Hospital. Joe was predeceased by his wife Nancy Lou in 1999. He will be deeply missed by his brother Bill and family; sisters Kathleen and Marjorie and their families; children George (and family - wife Lynn and children Calvin and Andrew); Joe, Jim, Colleen, Jeanine (and family - children Coral, Nick and Ryan) and Chris; sisters-in-law Lynda and Vicky and their families; daughters-in-law Marliss and Kadri; and the many friends, colleagues and students whose lives he has touched throughout his 70 years. A Memorial Service will be held on Thurs., Aug. 19, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the 108 Mile Community Hall - 108 Mile House, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scouts Canada (1345 Baseline Rd., Ottawa, Ont. K2C 0A7, or online at https://www.scouts.ca - or to MADD Canada (6507C Mississauga Rd, Mississauga, Ont. L5N 1A6, or online at https://www.madd.ca . KLYNE, Earl Stewart Saturday, 14 Aug 2004
Aged 73, passed away quietly Saturday night, Aug. 14, 2004 among family. Earl is survived by his loving wife Glenna of 49 years; sons Robert and Michael; daughters Terry, Cheryl and Susan; grandchildren Alicia, Mikey, Sean, Kayte, Jerica and Janelle and one great-granddaughter Phoenix. Earl will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A small Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 21, 2004 at Mill Site Lodge in 100 Mile House, B.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. We would like to acknowledge the care and dedication given by the staff at Mill Site during Earl’s last years.

Latham, John (Jake) H.W. Thursday, 30 Oct 2003
Passed away quietly at home in 70 Mile House on Oct. 30, 2003. Jake was born Feb. 20, 1937 in Nanaimo, B.C. He was survived by four daughters: Michelle (Reg), Toni (Mike), Lena (Ray), Darcy (Dave); eight grandchildren; two great-grand- children and three sisters, Lorna (Ken), Audrey (Roger) and Bonnie as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His long time Navy buddy, Jerry (Jiggs) Guenther and Jerry's wife Joni also survived him. Jake moved to 70 Mile House in Sept. 1971, joining old friends in retirement after many years in the Navy. We've all enjoyed tales of Jake's growing up in Victoria and of course, Navy and shore leave stories. Jake's life will be celebrated and his passing mourned on Sat., Nov. 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the 70 Mile Community Hall.

Doherty, Glen Allan Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003
Glen Allan Doherty passed away quietly in Kamloops Hospital on Oct. 22, 2003. He was born June 18, 1921 in North Battleford, Sask. Survived by wife, Laurette Doherty; children Patricia and Gary Peters, Amanda Swank, Len and Janice Latimer, Fay and Glen Ducolon; two brothers Don Doherty (Rose), Jim Doherty (Shirley); two sisters Shirley Ainscough (Bill), Darlene Bowser; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter Mary (Latimer) Doherty; mother Carrie Walters; father James Doherty; stepfather Charlie Walters; sister Sheila Nichols. Service at United Church, 169 North Dogwood, 100 Mile House, B.C. at 2:00 p.m. Oct. 29, 2003. Refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or 100 Mile House District General Hospital.

Hadden, Lawrence William Sunday, 19 Oct 2003
Lawrence William Hadden passed away peacefully in his home at Likely, B.C. on Sun., Oct. 19, 2003 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on March 15, 1949 in New Westminster to Bill and Selma Hadden. He was raised in 100 Mile House, where he also married his wife, Carol Plewes on Dec. 27, 1969. They had three children: Raymond, in 1969, Malcom in 1971 and Barbara in 1974. Lawrence owned and operated his own log truck company in 100 Mile House. After moving to Likely, he worked as a loader operator and logging truck driver for a variety of companies, including Ray Savidan Enterprises, Bicchiera Trucking, hauling logs to Weldwood in Williams Lake. He was proud to receive awards numerous times for safe driving. For a time he operated a small sawmill alongside his wife. For the last few years he worked for Cariboo Road Services in Likely. His many hobbies included woodworking, camping, a model train set, but some of his greatest times were spent on his boat on the ocean. Lawrence is survived by his wife Carol; sons Raymond (Nancy) Hadden and Malcom (Erin Tough) Hadden; daughter Barbara (Lorne) Smith, grandchildren Alexander Hadden, Justin Hadden, Cheyenne Smith, Tyler Hadden, Tanis Smith, Dakota Smith and Melissa Hadden; mother Selma Hadden; father-in-law, Lynn Plewes; brothers Dick (Nancey) Hadden; Danny (Gabrielle) Hadden and Bill (Maureen) Hadden; sister Bev (Joseph Gaudet) Hadden; sister-in-law Linda (Fred) Hawkshaw; brothers-in-law, Bill (Lynn) Plewes and Bob Plewes; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Lawrence was predeceased by his father, Bill Hadden in 1988. Funeral services were held on Fri., Oct. 24, 2003 at the Likely Chapel with Jim Potter officiating. Bill Hadden, Lawrence's brother, gave the eulogy. LaPrairie's Funeral Services were in charge of arrangements.

Crothers, Albert (Al) James Friday, 17 Oct 2003
Dec. 22, 1931 - Oct. 17, 2003
Al passed away peacefully on the morning of Oct. 17, 2003 at the 100 Mile House District General Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Joyce; sons Daryl (Joanne); Kevin (Louise), daughters Darlene (Jim); Karen (Frank); grandchildren Brock, Christie, Wendy, Jeremy, Amanda, James, Jesse, Riley, Madison and brother Rolly (Leona). Al was born in Winnipeg, Man. and came to B.C. in 1952 as a member of the RCMP. He was stationed in various locations throughout the province, retiring from the force in 1975, settling in 100 Mile House. Al then entered the Provincial Sheriffs Branch and rounded out his career with the Provincial Court Registry. Al was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, member of the Legion and a founding member of the 100 Mile House Elks Club. Al contributed to many community charities and organizations, including being a volunteer ambulance attendant for a number of years. A Memorial Gathering will be held Thurs., Oct. 23, 2003 from 2pm to 4pm at his residence at 360 Birch Place, 100 Mile House. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Al.

Frechette, Roland J.W. Wednesday, 18 Feb 2004
After a long battle with lung cancer, Roland Frechette passed away on Wednesday, February 18, in Port Alberni, B.C. Roland is survived by Lorette, his wife of 51 years and his children Roland (Shelley), Nancy (Guy), Garry, Carole (Lee), John, Diane, Lyle (Leanne) and Susan (Dan). Also his grandchildren Danielle and Trent Frechette, Justin, Trevor and Eric Demoskoff, Denaye, Shayla and Kierra Frechette, Jeremy and Selena Bell. A gathering for family and friends was held on Sunday, February 22 Yates Funeral Service & Crematorium (723-5859) was in care of arrangements.

McKeown, William James Monday, 09 Feb 2004
April 11, 1927- Feb. 9, 2004
Bill passed away peacefully in 100 Mile Hospital at the age of 76 surrounded by his family. Survived by his wife Margaret of 51 years; two sons Greg (Shelly), Green Lake and Keith (Kelly), Victoria; granddaughters Michelle and Christine and grandson Parker. Born and raised in Boston Bar. Retired to the Cariboo in 1991. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening: always a great tomato crop and various other vegetables. He will be sadly missed by friends and family. The family would like to thank Dr. Mah and staff at 100 Mile Hospital. A Remembrance Tea will be held Thurs., Feb. 12 from 1-3pm at the Seniors Garden, Strata Room, 8th Street, 100 Mile House, B.C.
