Death Notice (03/09/2000)
CULOS - David Mackenzie was born in Vancouver, March 19, 1961. He was truly a gift from Heaven sent to us as a brother and playmate for Robert. He later became a big brother to Elinor. Our David died suddenly and tragically in a car accident Monday, March 6, 2000 in Port Moody, B.C. He is survived by his wife Agnes and loving children, Maureen 13, and Stephanie, who is soon to be 12. Among those also left to grieve the loss of this extraordinary human being are his parents Raymond and Judy Culos, his brother Robert (Gael) and sister Elinor Csoti. In addition to nieces Julia Csoti and Sophie Culos, nephew Daniel Culos and nonna Phyllis Culos, David was a special uncle to Jeff, Chris, Jason and Tony Prince, Mark Gannon, Jody Larch and Melissa and Robert Elliott. David was Manager, Systems Architecture Development Services at the Workers' Compensation Board of British Columbia. Blessed with a splendid mind, David took pleasure in excelling as a member of the Magic Circle Club. He specialized in slight-of-hand performances and recently was awarded the distinction of top presenter of the year by his peers. He delighted many audiences with his brilliance and patter. David was akin to a brilliant star that illuminates the sky for others to mark and follow. Little did we know, however, that David's starlight would be extinguished so prematurely. David, you loved and were loved in return. And now we entrust your soul to God and commit your memory to our hearts forever. There will be evening prayers at the Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship, 1160 Lansdowne, Coquitlam, B.C. Friday, March 10th at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11th at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 3871 Pandora Street, Burnaby, B.C. On Monday, Fr. Claudio Holzer, c.s. will offer a private family graveside burial service. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Death Notice (03/09/2000)
GALBRAITH - Norman James (Jim) on March 8, 2000, Jim Galbraith passed away peacefully in Edmonton with his family at his side. Jim lived a full and rich life with family, friends and colleagues, sharing with one and all his unique sense of humour and zest for life. Many will recall travelling with Jim through the events of his life, sometimes on the backroads of Alberta, sometimes sharing favourite stories over an open fire - or perhaps an occasional malt whiskey. Born in New Westminster on the 25th of July, 1941, Jim was the eldest of five children. His early years were at the family home in North Burnaby where his Scottish roots were confirmed as he learned to play bagpipes and dance the highland fling - much to the delight of his beloved mother, Ellen Galbraith. Later he moved with the family to Edmonton where he completed his schooling and set down roots that endured throughout his life. First married in 1963 to Sylvia, he experienced the joy of fatherhood with the arrival of Heather a few years later. Jim worked for Woodward's in various locations for much of his career where he made many lifelong friends. It was during these years he met and shared life's experience with Stella, came together in marriage, and enlarged his family to include Andrea and David. Retiring to Vancouver, then moving to a rural home in Duncan, Jim chose to return to Edmonton for his final months - to enjoy the company of friends and familiar surroundings. The memory of Jim will be forever cherished by his soulmate, Stella; his father, Norman Galbraith; brothers, Bob (Monica), Bernie (Pat), and Glen; sister Carole; also his children, Heather (Mick), David (Marylee) and granddaughter, Sarah, Andrea (Brent) and expected grandchild Macnab; and by many dear aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. Jim's memory also lives with his wonderful friends, many of whom gave generously of their time to offer support during the past fifteen months of his life. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Howard & McBride Westlawn, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton. Reverend David Quigley officiating. Cremation has taken place. Donations in lieu of gifts may be made to the Palliative Unit of the Edmonton General Hospital, 3C60 - 11111 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton AB T5K 0L4.
