ANDREWS - Laura Ann, age 39 years, of Surrey, B.C. passed away May 7, 2000 after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her brother Brad (1987). Survived by her loving family: husband Jim Burns and his children Paula, Janice, Noel and Jason; parents Wally and Lois; mother-in-law Olive Burns; sister Wendy; 2 brothers Darren and Dale (Cheryl); grandmother W. Corscadden; 2 nephews Graham and Curtis; niece Jackie; special friend Lorie Unger; godson Steven, as well as many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey on Thursday, May 11 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. BUCKSHAW - John passed away suddenly May 8th, 2000 in Vancouver, B.C. Predeceased by his special friend Sandra Williams, sisters Elizabeth and Mary. Survived by loving sons, Christopher and Jordan, their mother Lynn, sisters Agnes, Margaret, Julie, Lillian and brother Julius, and many nieces, nephews and very close friends. John was a 39 year employee of Dueck on Marine. He was a loving dad, and a caring and giving person who never asked for anything in return. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 12th, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Delta Funeral Home, 5329 Ladner Trunk Rd., Delta, B.C. Reception to follow. CYR - Mary "Eleanor" (nee White), passed away peacefully on May 4, 2000 at the age of 70. Born and raised in Cloverdale, she spent many happy years raising her young family in Mission and Northern Vancouver Island until settling in Squamish in 1970. She devoted her life to her husband Cliff, children Bob, Bill (Diane) and Donna-Marie, granddaughters Melanie, Stephanie, Ashleigh, Jennifer, Danielle and Kaitlin. Eleanor was the matriarch of her loving extended family including Bert & Sheila, Sid & Colleen, Shirley (pre-deceased) & Jim, Gene & Darlene. She enjoyed bridge with her friends and Rv'ing. Eleanor will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Funeral Service will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Squamish, Thursday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of B.C. Squamish Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.

DOWNS - Nicholas Ian, just 16 years old, died suddenly in a car accident on the Upper Levels Highway in the early hours of Sunday, May 7th, 2000. Nick is survived by his parents, Ian and Debbie; little sister Lauren; grandparents Jean Downs, Noreen Butt and Stan Nicholson; uncles, aunts and cousins. He was truly a lovely young man, our Nick. He weathered more than a few storms in his short life with grace, dignity and tremendous sensitivity. We are all going to miss him. Nick's family would like to express how touched they are at the overwhelming outpouring of love and support Nick's friends and our community have shown. Thank you. A memorial service will be held for Nick at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 12th, at West Vancouver United Church, 21st Street and Esquimalt, West Vancouver. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. If you'd like to do something in Nick's name, donations may be made to the North Shore Search and Rescue Society. Sleep now, sweet boy.

Predeceased by her husband Tom, in 1971, she is survived by her children, Gail Barry and Bob (Lynne) Fletcher; grandchildren Tod, Jacalyn, Anthony, Jason and Andrew; and great-grandson Matthew. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m., in Evangel Tabernacle, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Silver Harbour in North Vancouver would be appreciated.

HARVYL - Evelyn Amelia passed away on May 7th, 2000 at the age of 83. Predeceased by her loving husband John and sister Leona. Survived by her sons, Richard (Carrol), Tom (Vivian); daughter Joanne; cherished grandchildren Lindsay and Jessica; brother Don; and sisters Jean and Helen. Passed from the loving hands of her children and the "Special Angels" at St. Vincent's Langara, Birch 2 to be with her creator. "Mom" was humble in life. She lived totally from her heart teaching those who were fortunate to know her, how to laugh and to love unconditionally. "You will remain special in the hearts of your family and friends forever". No formal service by request. The family will arrange a get together to be announced at a later date.

KENDALL - It is with deep sadness and regret that the family of Richard B. (Dick) Kendall announce his sudden passing on April 28, 2000, in his 76th year, while vacationing in England. Dick has been a resident of Maple Ridge for 34 years. Lovingly remembered by Velma, his wife of 46 years; his adored children, Anne Kendall (Paul Zimmerman) of Elmira, Ontario, Ric (Cheryl Nagle) of Vancouver, B.C. and Jennifer Smith (Murray) of Prince George, B.C. and by the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Samantha and Shannon Zimmerman, Katelyn, Paige and Ben Kendall, and Kendyl and Jared Smith. Also remembered with love by his sister, Elaine Kendall; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cresswell and brother-in-law, Jack Cresswell and family. Dick served with RCAF 432 Squadron and was a retiree of Canada Post. A celebration of Dick's life will be held on Friday, May 12, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church, 22165 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge, Rev. Dal McCrindle officiating. Cremation took place in Harrogate, England. Flowers gratefully declined.
