HUNT, Claude Robert - Monday, 08 May 2006
Claude Robert Hunt, born in Miami, Manitoba Jan. 6, 1935 died peacefully following a heart attack May 8, 2006. He was surrounded by his wife, children, stepchildren and close friends at the MSA Intensive Care Unit.
Claude joined the Navy “to see the world”. In 1955 after basic training, he was stationed in Victoria, B.C. Then later transferred to the Aldergrove Armed Forces Base. Upon leaving the Armed Forces he worked for his brother at “Hobby Electronics” repairing appliances. This work was just right for him as he enjoyed meeting many people in the community. He retired in 2001 and enjoyed his many hobbies, his family and his faith.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Caroline, his own children: Brian, Garry, Joni, and David and by his stepchildren: Caroline, Maureen, Dwayne, and Brad and his 18 grandchildren. He will also be missed by his brother Al Hunt and his children, Janice & Greg and by many friends.
A Memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 31165 Gardner Ave. Abbotsford, B.C. Saturday afternoon May 13, 2006 at 2:00 pm
MAYER, Joseph “Joe” - Thursday, 04 May 2006
Joseph “Joe” Mayer passed away on May 4 at the age of 101 years in Mission Memorial Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Milka “Milly” in 1997. Joe is survived by his son Milan “Mike” of Mission; daughter Mary of Vancouver; sister-in-law Mary of Courtenay; nephew Bob (Mary) of Nanoose Bay; niece Darlene (Rick) of Tofino; also other nephews and nieces.
Prayers will be offered on Friday the May 12, 2006 at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Parish Church, 32550 7th Avenue, Mission, BC. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Parish Church. Interment to follow at Hatzic Cemetery then a reception/lunch at St. Joseph’s Parish Church. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made in Joe’s memory to a charity of your choice.
ADRIAN, Esther - Sunday, 07 May 2006
Esther, born January 15, 1915, peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 7, 2006.
Esther was predeceased by her first husband Jacob Adrian and her second husband Isaac Redekop.
She will be remembered with love and sadly missed by her surviving 4 daughters, Elaine (Ernie) Standbridge, Joyce Tataryn, Deanna (Richard) Thiessen, Ruby (Jim) Marsh and her son Henry Adrian, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; 3 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Wm. Herb (Tina) Friesen, Abbotsford, BC, and one sister Evangeline Urquhart in St. Catherines, Ontario, one sister-in-law Margaret Friesen, Abbotsford as well as many nieces and nephews.
Esther worked for Woodward's in both New Westminster and Vancouver until their closure and moved to Abbotsford in 1974 where she worked as a care aid at the Menno Home until retiring at age 69.
A special thank you from the family to all the staff at MSA Manor in Abbotsford for the TLC and comfort they provided Mom.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Central Heights Church, 1161 McCallum Rd., Abbotsfod, BC. Cremation to follow.

In memory of Agnes Kathleen Fast (Janzen)
Born Dec. 4, 1924, passed into the presence of the Lord, peacefully in her home, on Thursday May 4, 2006 at age 81.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband Daniel, son-in-law Jerry Neufeld, sister Margaret, brothers Aaron, Henry, Peter, and Bernard.
She is survived by sisters Helene Franz, Anne (and John) Friesen, her brother Jake (and Kit) Janzen. She will also be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her four daughters Melinda Neufeld, Judy (and Ken) Harder, Sheryl (and Ron) Clarke, Debbie (and Ron) Bartsch; and her ten grandchildren Mike and Natasha, Chris (and Sarah) and Catherine, Katelyn and Daniel, and Jeanette, Andrea, Amy, and Jodi.
A special thank you to all the people from The Fir Villa and her community, who were a great support to her.

KOOP, Peter - Sunday, 07 May 2006
Peter, late of Abbotsford, BC, went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2006 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his loving family: daughter Anita (Art) Isaak; grandchildren Connie (Steve) Dyck, Randy (Tia) Isaak, Amanda Koop, and Selena Koop; and 5 great grandchildren. He was sadly predeceased by his wife Anna, and sons Heinz and John.
Peter had a great sense of humour, liked playing pool, travelling, and good food. He especially enjoyed summer visits to the Okanagan for cherries and apricots, and more recently, daily visits with his granddaughter Connie.
A Funeral Service for the late Peter Koop will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2006 from Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford, BC. Burial will follow at Maclure Road Cemetery. Memorial tributes in Peter's name may be made to MCC, PO Box 2038, Abbotsford, BC V2T 3T8.

Herbert Steele, born in Vancouver BC April 13, 1932, passed away peacefully at MSA Hospital, Abbotsford, BC on May 6, 2006. Left to miss him sadly are his wife Marg Webb; his daughters Rochelle Steele of Kamloops, BC, Karen (Vic) Daku of Abbotsford, BC; son Kevin (Heather) Steele of Langley, BC and his stepchildren Paul (Diana) Webb of Sundre, AB, Dan (Brenda) Webb of Chilliwack, BC, and Laura (Bob) Edgar of Chetwynd, BC. There are also 21 grandchildren who will be missing grandpa, along with 2 sisters Elsie (Bill) Hull of Boundary Bay, BC, Linda (Louie) Laslo of Mission, BC and 2 brothers Dave Steele of Abbotsford, BC and Alex (Marlene) Steele of Mission, BC.

Mr. Robert Cecil Cruickshanks, late of Mission, BC peacefully passed away on May 2, 2006 at the age of 71 after a three year battle with lung cancer. He was born on June 7, 1934 in Beckenham, England. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Sylvia, of 52 years, children Teresa (Bob) de Wit, Tony (Mary-Ann), Pauline (Cliff) Brandy, and Keith (Rita), 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and (one on the way). He will also be missed by his brothers George, James, Richard, and Phillip in Canada, and William, Eric, and Alan, and sisters Ivy, Margaret, and Janet and their families in England and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Edith.
Robert moved his young family in 1973 and made Canada his new home. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family was most precious to him and he enjoyed his role as head of the family. He will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford.

DOERKSEN, Jerry David - Sunday, 15 Oct 2006
Jerry David passed away suddenly on October 15 in Osoyoos. He is survived by his wife Dolores, of Osoyoos; his first wife Linda, of Surrey; and his sons Warren (Jeanette) of Langley, Derek (Leslie) of Coquitlam, and Christopher (Kyla) of Langley; and 5 grandchildren: Melissa, Jenna, Joshua, Chloe, and Cameron. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Bob and Walter. He is also survived by his sister Vi (Ron Newberry) of Abbotsford.
A celebration of his life will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2597 Bourquin Cres. Abbotsford on Tuesday, October 24 at 11:00 a. m. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
GOSSELIN, Mr. Laurent (Larry) - Tuesday, 17 Oct 2006
Mr. Laurent (Larry) Gosselin, late of Abbotsford, passed away on October 17, 2006 at the age of 83 at the MSA Hospital. He is survived by his son Serge (Pirkko), brother Pierre of Montreal, his former wife Ethel of Lethbridge, grandchildren Dora Gosselin and her daughters Shinae and Denae Gorsalitz, Luc (Stephanie)
Gosselin and their children Madelyn, Caleb, Zack and Isabelle, and Dawn (Matt) Thiessen.
Larry was predeceased by his first wife Freda, his daughter Louise and her husband Real.
Larry worked for many years in Montreal as a draftsman/designer for Air Canada until 1973 when he switched gears and moved to Headwaters Ranch in Northern BC. After a couple of years on the ranch, he began working for Westcoast Energy as a technician and foreman. From there he retired to enjoy his passion for building, designing, gardening, and books.
We remember the ‘old man’ as a brilliant one, loving the challenge of a brain teaser, reveling in a game of chess.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 23, at 1:00 p. m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to MCC.

HANNAH, Mark - Wednesday, 18 Oct 2006
Mark, born in Ruthida, Sask. on July 4, 1918, passed away in Abbotsford, BC on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006. Mark grew up in Brookmere and worked for the Kettle Valley Railroad. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1940 and landed in Normandy on D-Day. Mark married Thelma Donaldson in 1946 and moved to Trail, where he worked for Cominco for 27 years. An avid gardener all his life, Mark retired to Abbotsford in 1976 and he and Thelma enjoyed many wonderful trips. Mark is survived by Thelma, his loving wife of 60 years, his daughter Diane Dunnet (Gordon) and his two grandsons, Allan and Ross.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ray Heinemann on October 12, 2006. Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Eileen, son Dale (Terri), daughters Cheryl (Brien) and Barbara (Daryl), grandchildren Michelle, Matthew, Samuel, Liam, Adelai and Ethan, his mother Mathilda, brothers, sister, extended family and friends. Ray's favourite pastime was spending time at his beloved Shuswap with his family, watching the lake that was "just like glass". He was a kind, caring, compassionate and funny man who deeply touched all who knew him. There will forever be a void in our lives caused by Ray's passing; we will always remember him with love through our many memories.

Alex, 101 years young, passed away at Menno Hospital, Abbotsford, on October 18, 2006, after a long and fulfilling life. Alex, a wonderful family man, will be sadly missed by his loving family, wife Mary of 63 years, his sons Ron (Verna), Lyle (Mary) Williams and grandchildren Blair, Bonny (Rich) Barbara, Tammy (Todd) and Les (Tanya) and his extended family.

Rudy Plenert passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2006 after a short illness. He was born Sept. 7, 1928 in Rabbit Lake, Sask. Rudy was predeceased by parents Jacob and Cornelia Plenert, first wife Kathy (Sawatzky), brothers Ed, Henry, Neil and sister Helen and second wife Grace (Neufeld).
Rudy will be missed by brothers George (Tina) and Art (Dorothy) and children Wayne (Delores), Larry (Sheryl), Karin (Gary Schroeder), and Steve (Janet), 10 granddaughters, one grandson, three great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Rudy was a baker in Vancouver and then became a well established real estate agent in Abbotsford. He was an avid golfer, with a daily tee time at Ledgeview. on retirement he enjoyed volunteering with MCC in Pennsylvania at the Haggai Institute in Hawaii and in Abbotsford with MCC.
A viewing will be held Monday, October 23, 2006 from 7-9 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford, BC.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 11:00 am from Emmanuel Mennonite Church, 3471 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford, BC.
