JEFFS, Sr. Mary Norma, SSA - Saturday, 11 Aug 2007
Born: Eleanor May Jeffson, May 14, 1918
in Vancouver B.C., The second child and only daughter of Arthur Jeffs and Mary Ellen Conlin died August 11, 2007 at St. Ann’s Residence in Victoria, B.C.
She entered the Sisters of St. Ann in 1940 and pronounced her vows in 1942. Her ministry, in many areas throughout B.C., was dedicated to teaching, and pastoral ministry. Sr. Mary Norma had a special love for First Nations People, ministering with them in Mission, Kamloops, Kuper Island, Duncan and Nanaimo.
Predeceased by her parents, brothers Richard, James, Robert, Frank and Ronald. She is survived by brothers Ted (Ella), George (Evelyn); sisters-in-law Marjorie, Shirley; many nieces, nephews, and her own community of Sisters of St Ann.
Prayers will be held at 7:00 p. m. on August 16th at St. Ann’s Residence, 2474 Arbutus Road, Victoria, B.C.
The Mass of the Resurrection on August 17 at 9:30 a. m. at St. Ann’s Residence, interment following at Hatley Memorial Gardens.

EPP, Ben - Saturday, 11 Aug 2007
Ben passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on August 11, 2007 at the Menno Home in Abbotsford. He was born on July 4, 1928 near Swift Current, Saskatchewan as the ninth child to Henry H. Epp and Maria Banmann Epp. In 1942, at the age of 14 he moved to Abbotsford where he lived until his death. On November 5, 1983 he marri-ed Margaret Elizabeth Peters. During his lifetime he pursued several careers, including farming, truck driving and custodial work. Ben loved his Lord and particularly enjoyed daily devotions. After his retirement, he and Margaret enjoyed traveling to various parts of Canada and the U. S. A.
Ben leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Margaret, three brothers, Henry (Elsie), Frank (Ann), Jake (Olga) and four -sisters, Mary Stobbe, Elizabeth (Henry) Lepp, Ann (Al) Penner and Helen (Walter) Nickel. He was predeceased by his parents, six siblings in infancy and two brothers, Herman and Peter.
The family would like to thank the staffs at the MSA Hospital and the Menno Home for their loving and compassionate care.
A memorial service for Ben will be held on Friday, August 17 at 1:30 p. m. in Bakerview MB Church, 2285 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford, BC. If desired, friends may make donations in Ben’s memory to the charities of their choice.

SANFORD, Evelyn Viola - Friday, 10 Aug 2007
Ev passed away suddenly in Mission Memorial Hospital on August 10, 2007, surrounded by her family, at the age of 87 years. She was born on December 14, 1920 near Wembley, Alberta. Evie, as she liked to be called, lived and worked in Mission for over 26 years and made many friends and acquaintances.
Evie will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 63 years, Phil; daughter Barb; son Larry, both of Mission; brother Cameron White and family of Grande Prairie, Alberta, plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be no service by request. A family and friends gathering will be held at a later date.

PERRY, Robert (Rab) - Friday, 10 Aug 2007
Robert (Rab) died peacefully on Friday, August 10, 2007 at the MSA Hospital in his 87th year. Rab was a long time resident of Abbotsford. His passion was golfing at Ledgeview. He was a keen snooker player. During his working years he was employed at BC Sugar. He also served our country during World War II with the R. C. A. F. as a gunner. His ­theatre of service was Africa.
Rab will be remembered by his loving family, two sons Bob (Debbie) and Bill (Peggy), daughter-in-law, Sharon; grandchildren, Michael and Sarah; great granddaughter Rebecca; sister, Jean; and brother, Bill.
Special thanks goes to the ­doctors and nurses at the MSA Hospital for all their special care toward our dad.
At Rab’s request, there will be no service. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

TRETHEWEY, E. Alan - Friday, 10 Aug 2007
E. Alan Trethewey, of Abbotsford, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 10, 2007 at MSA Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Vivian; 5 sons: Brig (Nini), Bruce (Barbara), Will, Regan (Jolie) and Derek, and 12 grandchildren.
Alan enjoyed a long a full life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial celebration of his life will follow later this month.

Margaret Agnes Hockridge passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at Mission Memorial Hospital at the age of 75 years. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her husband John, daughter Pamela (Gord), son Paul (Susan), granddaughters Karen Lee (Rob), Krista (Robin), Sarah (Curtis) and Jeanine, great grandchildren Jesse, Jordan, Lindsay, Jason, Brandon, Julee and Tyson; niece Jan (George) and nephew Robin, as well as a close circle of dear friends. Margaret was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Mission – Midday. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 24th from 11:30 a. m. to 1:30 p. m. at the 14th Avenue Pub, 32516 – 14th Avenue, Mission. Drop by to help us celebrate Margaret’s life and wish her well on her next journey. Heartbroken by the recent death of his wife, Arlie, Cyril Clemo passed away, quickly and unexpected, on June 16th. Predeceased by a son, Jimmy, Cyril is survived by loving children Kate Ross, Steve Ross (Rhonda), Victoria Ross-Hallgren (Karl); grandchildren, Cale, Stephanie, Alicia (Kyle); great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Mae; sister, Winnona Harris (David), and many nieces and nephews. Joanne Patricia Bonnett passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2007 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her dad Harold, mother-in-law Winifred and her husband Steve. Joanne leaves behind her children, Kelly, Christine (Glenn), Jeff and Tracy (Dave); and her grandson Wesley “her little guy”. She also leaves her mom Marian; brother David (Laura); sister Bobbi; brother-in-law David (Lorna); father-in-law Ray; several nieces, nephew and close family friends Bill and Johanna who have always offered support to the whole family when needed. Joanne worked at Tim Hortons for eight years and loved going to work everyday that she could. As a family we would like to say thanks to Dr. De Klerk and all her nurses for going above and beyond to care for our mom. THANK YOU ALL very much. A memorial service will be held at Mission Sports Park, 8028 Oyama Street, Mission on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 3:00 p. m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christine Morrison Hospice.

Neufeld, Rudy - Saturday, 16 Jun 2007
July 28, 1933- June 16, 2007
Rudy died peacefully at his home from pancreatic cancer. He was the beloved husband of Irma, the beloved dad of Stewart, Cameron, Cynthia and Garth, and the beloved opa of Adam, and Jordan, Luke and Aaron, and Alec and Graeme. Rudy will also be painfully missed and lovingly remembered by his son-in-law Karl, and by his daughters-in-law Catherine, Marianne, and Elizabeth.
Rudy was pre-deceased by his father Peter, his mother Mary, his brothers Peter and David, and by his sister Irene. He is survived by his sister Mary and her husband Peter, and by his brother Walter and his wife Helen.
Farmer, real estate agent, and athlete, Rudy was intensely interested in regional, national and world politics and events. He understood how political and economic systems and policies affect people’s lives, and he showed compassion for those in less fortunate circumstances. Social and outgoing, he enjoyed his family and friends and loved to play jokes and laugh.
We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to our home care nurses, especially Joanne, Robyn, Trish, and Janet for their compassionate attention and care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the MCC would be appreciated.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 22, 10:30 a. m. at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, 3471 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.

ESTENSEN, Dr. Ralph Norman - Saturday, 16 Jun 2007
Dr. Ralph Norman passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007 from a sudden and invasive stroke.
Born in New Westminster, Ralph’s passion for working with animals began at an early age. As a young boy, Ralph knew that this would develop into a career in veterinary medicine. He earned his degree in agriculture from UBC in 1962, and became a veterinarian after having graduated from Guelph in 1967. Ralph truly enjoyed his profession and the friends he made along the way.
Ralph’s character was shaped by his strong and resilient spirit. He always stated, “In addition to good health, your most valuable asset is having an honest reputation. ” Ralph lived by this principle every day of his life and inspired his family to do the same.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the paramedics, doctors and the CCU nurses of Langley Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care of Ralph. In respect of his wishes, there will be no funeral. Instead, Ralph would encourage his friends and family to make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Dream Chasers Team in the 2007 Abbotsford Relay for Life (Canadian Cancer Society).

LEITCH (nee: Esslemont), Colin D. - Friday, 15 Jun 2007
Feb. 25, 1935 - June 15, 2007
My husband, our Dad, our Grandpa passed away peacefully in Hope, B.C. at the age of 72 with his family by his side.
Colin is survived by his wife Jane, of 48 years years; son Brian Leitch (Carol); grandchildren Steven and Amanda of Renton, Washington; daughters Valerie Thiessen (Art) or Abbotsford, B.C. and Tracey Leitch of Victoria, B.C. ; sisters Dorothy Derksen (Bill) and Betty Ciebien.
Colin was born in Weirdale, Saskatchewan. He was a master carpenter and could turn a plain piece of wood into something beautiful. He loved nature, camping, biking and watching old western movies.
We will miss him more than words can.
No funeral by request.

SHEPHERD, Alex - Friday, 15 Jun 2007
On June 15, 2007, Alex passed peacefully into Jesus’ arms with the sound of bagpipes playing at his daughter’s home in Ferndale, Washington. He had just turned 90 years old. Daddy was born June 3, 1917, to Thomas and Robina (McPhail) Shepherd in Forres, Scotland. Alex was the eldest of 8 children. His family immigrated to Canada in June 1926, with Alex turning 9 on the trip over the Atlantic. He grew up on the family farm in Madden, Alberta. In 1939, when he was 21, he joined the Canadian Army and served in World War Two. During those 6 years he served in England, Scotland, France, Africa, Sicily, Italy, Belgium, and Holland. Upon his return to Canada in 1945, he married Lucille Davies and had two daughters, Lucille and Denise. He was a member of the cement masons union for over 30 years and served on the board of directors. His wife, Lucille, died in 1964, and Alex married Dorothea Ziewicki in 1965. Together they ran the Capitol Hill Rest Home until their retirement in 1980. They moved to Abbotsford where Dorothea passed away in 2000. Alex will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved to feed the birds, grow roses, and build rock walls, many of which still stand today.
Alex is survived by his brothers, John (Jean) Shepherd, Ken (Marge) Shepherd, and Stan Shepherd; sisters, Mary (Colin) Arton and Jean (Irv) Rubin; daughters, Lucille (Robert) Shaw and Denise (Everett) Robinson; grandchildren, Lawton (Tanya) Shaw, Pamela (Ron) Pistell, Dorinda (Ashley) Smith, Jeramy (Pamela) Robinson, and Melinda (Duane) Richardson; great grandchildren, Aspen Pistell, Calvin, Nathan, and Alexis Shaw, and Isaiah Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held in August in Carstairs, Alberta. Arrangements are by Moles Family Funeral Homes & Crematory – Ferndale.

LETANG, Sally Ann - Friday, 15 Jun 2007
January 30, 1954 - June 15, 2007
After a courageous struggle with MS Sally passed away on June 15th at the age of 53 with her mother and son at her side. She leaves our world to be with her father, Martin in heaven. Sally was born in New Westminster, BC and has resided in Mission/Deroche for the past 25 years. She will be sadly missed by her mother Ellen; daughter Arlene (Rick); sons Richard and Thomas; foster daughter Mandy; sisters Iris (Dan), Myrl (Tim), Kathie (Alvin) and Alice as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Sally touched many lives, she was involved with the Foster Parent Plan, Air Cadets, the church and Legion. She made many friends along the way and will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank all the people at the Grand Street Lodge for all the love and support they have given Sally. A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home (7386 Horne Street, Mission) on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 11:00 a. m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society.
