Dobos, Rose
Rose Dobos passed away on October 24, 2011 in Creston, B.C. at the age of 77 years.
Rose was born on March 27, 1934 in Jelka, Czechsolvakia.
Rose arrived in Quebec, Canada in 1957with her sister Agnes and brother-in-law Frank. Rose commenced working in the hotel industry. Opportunities were opening up in the west so she braved moving alone to Calgary, Alberta. She worked in the Holy Cross and General Hospital in Calgary. Rose met Steve, the love of her life, partner and friend and was married October 18, 1958. They had one daughter, Suzanne. In 1964 the family moved to the Columbia Valley, Windermere, B.C. where they owned and operated the White House Hotel. Rose worked in the bar for years and was respected by returning patrons and friends.
Rose and Steve were entrepreneurs, they built the bowling alley and gas station on the Windermere highway, which are still quite active today. Rose, Steve and Suzanne had a short time at the coast where they owned and operated the Westview Hotel in Powell River. However, they loved the kootenay’s and returned home.
Retirement in 1997 gave Rose and Steve some well deserved time together.
Rose will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband Steve; daughter Suzanne; grandchildren Natalya, Lorena, Jordan; great-granddaughter Peyton; sister Agnes (Frank); nephew Frank; niece Susan (Regan); brother Karoy (Magdi) and numerous nieces and nephews in Hungary and Europe.
The Funeral Mass was held November 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Gabriel celebrant. Interment followed at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, B.C.
Gilmar, Lewis
Lewis Gilmar was born to parents Bertha & James Gilmar on February 7, 1928 and passed away peacefully on October 31, 2011 at the age of 83 years.
Lewis’ fondest times were with family, camping and fishing.
Lewis and Gilda moved to Creston, B.C. in 2002.
Lewis will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Gilda; his daughters Cathy (Bill), Donna (Wayne) and Karen (Laury); son Bruce (Rosa); nine grandchildren Todd, Jerad, Lee, Greg, Brandi, Tammy, Megan, Sarah and Jenni; six great-grandchildren Justin, Kaden, Brooklyn, Ryley, Alex and Kady and brothers Bob and Roy.
Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

McDonald, James ( Jim )
James Hugh ( Jim ) McDonald, a resident of Wynndel, B.C. passed unexpectedly in the Cranbrook Hospital on November 9th, 2011 at the age of 67 years.
Jim was born to Oline and Bill McDonald on September 20th, 1944 in Creston, where Jim received his formal education. He continued his education at trades schools in Kelowna and Vancouver gaining his papers as a journeyman carpenter. Jim married Vicki Johnson in Reno, Nevada on October 10th, 1971 and the couple made Wynndel their home, where they celebrated their 40th anniversary. Jim changed his skills as a carpenter to truck driving, first owning a logging truck until buying a local lowbed trucking business, which he operated from 1976 until his retirement in September 2009.
Jim was an active member of Creston Paws. He enjoyed rebuilding cars, attending car shows, boating and water skiing, snowmobiling and atv riding. Jim loved the valley and especially Kootenay Lake and the surrounding mountains.
He was predeceased by this parents Oline ( Uri ) and Bill McDonald. Jim will be dearly missed by his loving wife Vicki, daughter Robbi McDonald ( Scott Langevin) and son Jamie McDonald, sisters Crystal of Penticton, Ronelle of Penticton and Norma of Nuevo, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Private Family Memorial Service to be held in the spring. Cremation has taken place.

Darychuk, Bella
Bella Darychuck (nee Stinka) passed away on November 12, 2011 in Creston, B.C. at the age of 81 years. Bella was born on June 21, 1930 on the family farm in Saskatchewan to parents Helen and Harry Stinka.
Bella married Nick Darychuk in Canora, SK on the 15th of October, 1950. Shortly after, in 1952 they moved to Canex in Salmo, B.C. with their daughter Elaine. They lived in the Canex Mine Townsite until the spring of 1964 then they moved to the town of Salmo where they had a 4 acre hobby farm until 1990. They then moved to Creston for a few years before returning back to Yorkton, SK in 1998. After this, they moved to Cranbrook where Nick passed away in 2001 and ever since then Bella had been a resident of Creston, living in the lovely Birch Meadows.
Bella worked with the Ladies Auxiliary in Salmo, B.C. for many years. Recently she was a part of the Creston United Church where she helped out with many functions. She was also a part of TAPS in Creston and enjoyed the regular outings and making many new friends.
Bella was predeceased by her husband Nick on July 14th, 2001; her daughter Elaine on February 22, 1972; sisters Doris (in infantry) and Cathy and brothers Nick, Mike and Billie.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Myles (Cheryl) Darychuk, Delores, Donna (Steve) Magaw, Sherry Jane (Ben) Chretien; grandchildren Nicole, Stephanie, Marissa, Matthew, Tyler and Boden; sisters Iris and Virginnia and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral services was held Thursday November 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the G. F. Oliver Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Wood officiating.
Interment followed at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, B.C.

Windels, Charles
CHARLES JOHN WINDELS was born December 16th, 1932 in Canwood, S.K. and passed away November 4th, 2011 in Creston, B.C.
Charles is survived by his wife, Katrina (nee Elias), sons Ronald (Lillian), Jerry (Jeannie) and Joseph; brothers Clarence (Emma); Clifford (May); sisters Janet and Lisa; eight grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Charles was predeceased by his parents Herman and Anna Windels.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the Creston Seventh-day Adventist Church in Creston, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ADRA Canada, 713 Cavell Street, Creston, B.C. VOB 1 G4
