NOVAKOWSKI, Frank Peter, born in Melville, Saskatchewan March 21, 1934, passed away very suddenly but peacefully on August 27, 2004, at the age of 70 years. He is predeceased by his father Albert; mother Rose; brothers, Bill and Ed and sister Josie. He is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 43 years Judy; sons, David (Roberta) and Mike (Leanne); 2 loving grandchildren, Chelsea and Joshua; sisters, Emily (Jerry), Helen (Andy), Eileen (Dave) and Teresa; brother Henry; sister-in-law Pauline and brother-in-law Bill, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Our years together as a family will always be treasured in our memories. Funeral services will be held at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660 - 72 Avenue, Surrey on Friday September 3, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. Donations in Frank's memory can be made to the B.C. Wildlife Federation, #303 - 19292 60 Avenue, Surrey B.C.

OPPENHEIMER, Mary "Pat" born in Montreal, Quebec, on January 25, 1909, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Saturday, August 28, 2004, in Richmond, B.C., with her devoted family at her side. Predeceased by her loving husband, Peter; she leaves behind daughters Frances (Steen) Ipsen and Joyce (Frank) Barac; grandchildren Tim (Cindy), Karen, Nicole, Shelley; and great-grandchildren Hunter and Chantaya. Those who knew Pat will remember her for her dedication to family, passion for gardening and sewing, keen wit and that twinkle in her eyes. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Rosewood Manor. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory may be made to the B.C. Cancer Society or the Rosewood Manor Care Foundation, Richmond, B.C.

PERAGINE, Michele Born January 10, 1922, Grumo Appula, Bari, Italy It is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather. He is survived and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 56 years, Cassandra; his children, Nicola (Lina), Raffaella Daddabbo (Giuseppe), Vincenzo (Lina), Savino (Ivana), Maria Masi (Nicola), Grace Gaita (Ron), Gina Stewart (Alan); his 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous family members in Italy. Memories of Michele's great sense of humour and laughter, the love for family and his zest for life will remain with us always. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of Burnaby General Hospital for their care and support throughout our father's illness. Prayer will be Thursday, September 2, 7:00 PM, where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, September 3, 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church, 1450 Delta, Burnaby. PHIPPS, Joseph F., born April 18, 1936, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on August 27, 2004. Joseph is survived by his dear wife of 49 years, Marge; daughters, Carol (Bill), Gayle (Roger); son Michael; grandchildren, Tamara, Derek, Dean, Maryna, Andrew, Matthew, Laura, and Brayden. Joseph also leaves behind his beloved brothers, sisters and family in England. God's blessings are also extended to the wonderful care provided by the nurses in the Palliative care unit at S.M.H. A celebration of life will be held at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Highway in Surrey. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday September 2, 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's memory may be made to The Ronald McDonald House of B.C. POWELL, Doris passed away on August 15, 2004, at a happy 96 years young. Born in London, England, she came to Canada when she was 11. During her life, she worked on farms, worked at Boeing during WWII, taught sewing, and worked in clothing and fabric stores. Her neighbours will miss her happy chatter over their morning coffee. Predeceased by her husband Allan Powell, she is survived by her two sons; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Cremation. No service by request.

SMITH, Audrey Joan, of Surrey, B.C., passed away on August 28, 2004. Survived by her loving family, husband Bill; 2 sons Jason and Jeff (Erin); 2 daughters Michelle (Brice) Gauthier and Jessica Smith; granddaughter Victoria Rose father Roy Topham; and 3 brothers David, Ray and Arthur. YAMAGUCHI, Accidentally on November 18, 2003, Fumiaki (Fumi) Yamaguchi of Squamish aged 62 years. He will be forever missed and is lovingly remembered by his wife Thelma, two sons Andrew Osamu, Christopher Kenzo, his family in Japan and England and his many dear friends. McGURRIN, John Michael McGurrin. July 3, 1930 December 10, 2003. John Michael McGurrin passed away peacefully in White Rock, B.C. on December 10, 2003 surrounded by his family after a short fight with cancer. He will be missed by his wife of 48 years, Edna, daughters Johanne (Don), Sherry (Wayne), Christine (James) and son Norman. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Donald (Huguette) and sisters Doreen, Rita (Alex) Suzanne, Mary and Joyce in Montreal, and sisters-in-law Irene (Stan) and Eve and brother-in-law Raymond (Susan) in Vancouver. From 1951 to 1990 John worked for Continental Can in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. John was passionate about life and will be remembered for his generosity, honesty and strength of character which he demonstrated to the end. The family would like to thank all the family and friends who were so supportive during Johns short illness. A private gathering will be held in White Rock and a private memorial will be held in Montreal at a later date.

McLAUGHLIN, Willard James Will passed away peacefully on the morning of December 9th, 2003, with family members at his side. He is survived by his wife Rosemary, his brother Doug and sister Marjorie, his 3 children Michael (Carol), Maureen, Mary (Ken), his grandchildren Lindsay, Michael (Margery), Jeffrey, and Jessica, and great-grandsons Kieran and Cameron. Will was born in Vancouver on October 18th, 1910. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his passion for Buccaneer Bay, his love of fishing and boating, and by his kind and generous nature. The family would like to give special thanks to the management and staff at the West Vancouver Care Centre. Prayers will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15th and Funeral Services on Tuesday, December 16th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's Parish (2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver). In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation (231 15th St. E., North Vancouver).

MOIR, Squadron Leader A.W. (Bill) Bill Moir died peacefully December 1, 2003. He was born May 17, 1927 in Edmonton. He joined the RCAF in 1951 and was commissioned from the ranks in 1965. He rose to the rank of Major and retired after 28 years of service. He leaves 4 children, 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian (1994) and brother, Moe (1992). A Memorial Service was held December 4th at the Cold Lake Legion. He will be greatly missed.

MORRIS, Pat (nee Ratcliffe) passed away on December 9, 2003 in the company of her adoring husband, Hugh, and her 3 daughters Katherine, Rosalind and Susan after a valiant battle with cancer. Deeply missed by her mother, Gunda Lien; her sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Stan Owen, her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ruth Ratcliffe; sons-in-law Andy Hill and David Roppel; her grandchildren Tony, Kim, Ben and Jasmine; a great-grandson Andrez; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat was born on July 16, 1936 in Peace River, Alberta, and spent her youth in Kimberley, B.C. She married Hugh in 1956 and they lived on Vancouver Island and in California, South Africa, Ontario and Quebec before returning to Kimberley in 1966. They moved to Vancouver in 1973. Pat was a passionate lover of life. As an athletic young woman, she was a fine badminton player. Later, she enjoyed swimming and walking. Throughout her life, books were a pleasure and inspiration. Pat was equally fond of travel to distant places and the familiar warmth of home. An avid bridge player, she also loved music. She could transform any occasion into an event, thanks to the creativity, sense of fun and joy that she brought to everything. Above all else, she loved the company of family and friends. She will be greatly missed for her dazzling wit, her intelligence, her kindness and generosity, her great strength of spirit and character and especially for her laughter. Funeral Services to be held at the Benediction Lutheran Church, 5575 6th Avenue, Tsawwassen, B.C., on Monday December 15th at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at Tsawwassen Golf and Country Club, 1595 - 52nd Street. MOSIER, Clifford Joseph passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 5, 2003, after a short but heroic battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Lonnie, his daughters, Cheryle, Deborah and Corrie, and grandchildren Dillon and Devon Abs, to whom he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He is also survived by his son-in-law Brian Abs, nieces Patricia LaCroix, Mary Lynn Jacques, Jacqueline Milligan, Kelly Mullen, Shelley Connolly, Virginia Greenwood, his nephew David LaCroix; and 11 great-nieces and nephews. Cliff was born on July 19, 1923 in Mission, B.C., and resided with his family for more than 50 years in West Vancouver. He was much loved and respected, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends for his wonderful sense of humour, his love of music, and for his unwavering loyalty to all those who knew him. The family respects his wish to pass away without having a funeral or memorial service.

NAIRN, Cora J.W. (nee Watson) of Vancouver passed away suddenly and peacefully at home November 22, 2003. Predeceased by her husband Jim in May 2003 after 53 years of marriage. Born January 10, 1923 in Aberdour, Scotland, her family immigrated to Canada in 1926, settling in Milner, B.C. Cora attended elementary and high school in Langley during which she never missed a day of school. After graduating she enrolled at St. Paul's Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1945 and continued working until devoting her life to raising a family. Cora is survived by her son Craig (Pat); daughter Noreen Howard (Laird); grandchildren, Shannon, Darin, Colby and Colin; great-grandson, Myles. Cora had many long time friends, colleagues and neighbors. There will be personal memories but no formal service. Special thanks to Dr. Berman, Vanda, and the Northeast team. Donations to Saint Paul's Hospital gratefully appreciated.

PARSONS, Margaret May (Sharples) born in Winnipeg 1920, passed away suddenly and peacefully on December 10th, 2003. She will be sadly missed by her children Linda (Dan), Danna (John) and Ian (Andree), her 4 grandchildren, sister June and her dear friend Clarrie. She was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1980. May will be remembered for her kind and gentle manner, her faith and wisdom, and her quiet wit. Her presence will be missed at Pinegrove Place where she lived for the past five years.
