HAIGH - Anne Proctor (nee Sager). Born in Assam, India, December 28, 1928, died in Lions Gate Hospital, March 9, 1999. Fondly remembered by her loving family, husband Douglas (married 51 years), son Peter (Audrey), daughter Heather and grandsons Christopher, Malcolm and Julian. Member of the Sager clan in B.C., she is also remembered by her brother Henry (Nansi) in Bristol, England and many cousins. Always energetic in all her pursuits, she was a nurse, teacher, musician, businesswoman and volunteer in many capacities, in Australia, Sri Lanka and Canada. ZAGORSKY - Ruth. 1913-1999. Passed away peacefully in her sleep March 8, 1999. Ruth was born in Germany and lived in Kobe, Japan and Harbin, China, where she met her husband Michael. They emmigrated to Canada and settled in West Vancouver. Ruth was passionate about art and imparticular her unique pottery. CAMPBELL - Iain MacKenzie. Born February 17, 1925 to Donald and Margaret Campbell of Kerrisdale, B.C. passed away quietly in Peace Arch Hospital on March 10, 1999. Friends and family will remember Iain for his life as Mariner, War-Vet, Mason, Telephone Pioneer, Fisherman, Master Cabinet-Maker, and good friend. Iain's long career with B.C. TEL left him with many treasured memories of those he worked with. Iain's last years were a struggle and the family wishes to thank all those who have been supportive.
Iain was pre-deceased by his sister Chris, nephew Donald, and is survived by his sisters: Marion Woolley and Mary Abbott. Iain is also survived by his former-spouse Matilda Campbell and their children: Colin Campbell, Lorraine Turner, Don Campbell and grandchildren Phillip Campbell and Ellen Campbell. Iain will be missed also by nieces and nephews: Marion Walker, Jim Abbott, Maureen Stephenson, Doug Abbott, Rob Abbott and their families.

McGILVERY - Julia Mary. Passed away peacefully after a short illness on March 10, 1999, at the age of 88. BENTLEY - Grace Elizabeth (nee Bergin). Born September 26, 1916, Beaumont, Texas, died peacefully March 8, 1999 at Evergreen House, North Vancouver after a brief illness, with family at her side. Beloved mother of Karen Brown and Dianne Haffner (Larry), grandmother of Rob (Melisa) Brown and Lisa Brown, and Simon and Kenny Haffner, and great-grandmother of Emma Brown. Predeceased by George Ewing Bentley (1992) and son-in-law Bob Brown (1998).
Grace suffered a serious stroke in 1994 and came to live at Evergreen House from Calgary, Alberta, where her husband was transferred in 1947 by Sun Oil Company, during the height of the oil boom. The Bentleys were members of First Baptist Church, Revellers Club and the Calgary Golf and Country Club. Grace was an accomplished homemaker, hostess, and pianist and an avid gardener and golfer. Later, she worked as a secretary in the "oil patch" and retired in 1981.
Although extremely incapacitated, Grace enjoyed her 41/2 years residency at Evergreen House, where she was well cared for by the staff on 1 South. Her sense of humour and exuberant singing will be missed by all on 1 South and her family. We are especially grateful to Dr. Leon Bard for his attentive and empathetic oversight of Grace's care.

GLADWIN - Dorothy (White). Born in Bowden, Alta., September 25, 1909. Passed away February 26, 1999 in Comox. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband, Desmond, in 1969 and her granddaughter Raelene in 1998. She is survived by her son Bruce (Roberta) and daughter Lois Enns (Art). Her grandchildren Toni (Mike) Pullan, Mark (Sandra) Enns, Deidre Gladwin, 4 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. The youngest of seven children, she moved to Vancouver from MaKay, Alta. at 17, and was baptised into the saving name of Christ at age 22. She married her dear friend Desmond in 1939 and moved to North Vancouver where they raised their family. In 1992, she moved to Glacier View Lodge in Comox. We would like to extend our special thanks to the caring staff at Glacier View Lodge and particularly to the Special Care Unit staff. VOLLET - Eleanor Margaret (Brown). Bell Vollet was born June 28, 1912 in Saskatchewan. She died of a heart attack while on holiday in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico at the age of 86, on February 23, 1999. She married Edward (Ted) Bell of Saskatoon and they had two children, Sharon and Charles. Ted preceded her in death in 1949. Eleanor married Clare Vollet and the family relocated to North Vancouver in 1960. Clare passed away in 1983. Eleanor worked in retail sales at Exquisite Boutique for many years. She moved to Deep Cove in 1987. She was a gifted artist, and loved to travel. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Sharon Venneri of Portland, Oregon and her children Jon and Jay Levin; her son Charles (Ted) Vollet of Boise, Idaho and his children Nicole and Justin; and her step-son Roy Vollet of North Vancouver and his children Denice, Gary and Greg. She had a loving free spirit and will be missed dearly by family and friends. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggest remembrances be made to the Deep Cove Heritage Association.

MILLER - Robert Dean. Passed peacefully away on March 3, 1999 in Squamish General Hospital at the age of 81. Son of the late James and Lillian Miller of Montreal, he was born and raised in Lachine, Que. and from an early age was an outdoors enthusiast - canoe expeditions, including portages into Northern Quebec, and skiing in the Laurentians being among his favourite youth activities. On leave in Halifax during wartime service as a lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy - where he served on the sweeper "Nipigon" and the corvette "Napanee" - he met and married his wife Barbara in 1944 after a whirlwind courtship. Following the war they moved to Montreal, where he completed his B.Comm. degree and worked for Molson's Brewery before the couple decided to move to B.C. with their little daughter in the early 1950's. In Vancouver Bob joined the chartered accounting firm Griffiths & Griffiths and subsequently was closely associated with the Pacific Great Eastern Railway (now B.C. Rail) as well as with the Tumbler Ridge northeast coal project. A member of the West Vancouver Kiwanis Club from 1952 onward, he served as its president and treasurer, took a particularly active part in the club's senior citizens' housing projects, and was honoured in 1997 for his outstanding service to the club and the community. For four decades he was also an active and involved member of Highlands United Church in North Vancouver. Predeceased by his brother Leonard Miller (lost during World War Two) and in 1997 by his wife Barbara, Bob is survived by his daughter Carolyn Gibson Grass of Squamish, grandson James Harold Grass and step-granddaughter Roberta Noel Grass - along with whom he will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by the many friends whose lives he touched for the better.
