YOUNGS - Emma Frances "Effie" (nee Wenmoth). Born September 4, 1900, London, England. Passed away April 23, 1999 in Vancouver, B.C. Effie was a pioneer resident of West Vancouver. During her life time she taught in coastal communities and spent many years in Prince Rupert before returning to West Vancouver after the death of her husband T. Norton Youngs in 1964. She resided in the Broadway Pentecostal Lodge in Vancouver during her last few years. She leaves her son Norton W. Youngs (Louise) and granddaughter Noreen Angus, grandson Brent Youngs; great-grandchildren Ryan and Natalie Angus. There was no service by request. Private interment in Capilano View Cemetery, West Vancouver.
DONALD - Claude Lyon. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, December 10, 1906. Died on May 9, 1999 in North Vancouver. Survived by Margaret his wife of 56 years, daughter Anne Whitefoot (Kerry) and granddaughter Kimberly. Claude will be deeply missed by his family and friends. MARENGO - Leslie Romauld. Passed away peacefully in his home on May 6, 1999. He was born on February 1, 1908 in Quebec, and achieved his engineering degree from the University of Manitoba. He married his lifetime companion in 1937, and moved to his home here on Ridgewood Drive in 1961. Coming from a family of ten, he had no children of his own, and is survived only by his dear wife, Gladys, and many nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration to his life at his home: 1123 Ridgewood Drive on Sunday, May 16 at 4:00 pm.
ARNFINSON - Dora. Passed away at home, in the presence of her family, in North Vancouver on May 10, 1999 at 76 years of age. Dora will be sadly missed by her three children, Marie Alexander Clements, Patricia Salanski and Bertram Arnfinson, her grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, her numerous nieces and nephews, companion John Rauter and her many friends who knew and loved her. DE SANCTIS - Vincenzo. Born in Goriano Sicoli, Italy on December 5, 1926. He passed away peacefully on May 12, 1999 at the age of 72. Predeceased by his son-in-law Joe Pezzente. His loving wife of 45 years, Rosa; daughters Antonina (Rosario), Maria, Carla (Alfonso), and Teresa (Fernando) will miss Vincenzo. Vincenzo was a loving Nonno to Paul, Eric, Andrea, Jonathan, Mario, Sofia, Giulia, Olivia and Matteo. June was an avid golfer, bridge player and lawn bowler having once been a team member in the Canadian Championships. BURTON - Kathleen Rose (Kay). Born July 29, 1903, passed away May 1, 1999. Predeceased by her husband Jack, and her brother Reg. Kay is survived by her loving daughter Barbara Burton, her nephew Harold Prenter, and niece Joan Prenter, her great-nephews Craig and Mark Prenter. Kay was christened at Christ Church Cathedral, spent her early years in the West End, and then moved to the west side. She went to Crofton House for all her schooling and afterwards spent many years as a member of the Board of Governors of the school. Kay and Jack married in 1933 and had a long and happy marriage. Kay worked for the Red Cross during the war. Her life long love of flowers led to her becoming a member of a garden club for many years. Kay was an avid sports' fan. In her youth she was captain of the school basketball team and was at one time cox for the Vancouver Rowing Club. She also played ice hockey for the Amazons. Kay will be fondly remembered for her warm and lively personality, her beautiful smile, and her delightful sense of humour. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 1999 at Mt. Seymour United Church, 1200 Parkgate Ave, North Vancouver. DODD - Hilda (Auntie Nin). Age 85, born Cheshire, England, passed away May 1, 1999 in Lions Gate Hospital. Now to be reunited with her loving husband Jack after 28 years. FORSTER - Charles Kivas Burton (Burt), aged 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 1999 at Lions Gate Hospital after a lengthy struggle following a stroke. Born and raised in West Vancouver, he and his wife Claire raised their two sons, Brad and Jamie and he went on to become a partner in the Chartered Accountant firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell (now KPMG). After a long and rewarding career, he retired and concentrated on helping out friends and family with his accounting skills, travelling the world, and enjoying his grandchildren, Caitlin and Chloe. He will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched. There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 7, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 885-22nd Street, West Vancouver. BOLEN - (Joe) Joseph N. Born in Regina, Sask. Passed away at V.G.H. on May 3, 1999. Survived by his loving wife Dolores (Del); three sons Garry (Eleanor), Ross (Jaspal) and Dale (Andrea); nine grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Craig, Kristi, Kelly, Nicole, Ryan, Serena and Ashley; sister Mary of Regina, Sask. Joe served in the Canadian Armed Services as Lieutenant/Corporal during the 2nd World War where after his discharge he returned home to Saskatchewan and started his first store. Later moving to B.C. where he owned and managed men's clothing stores, Father & Son Apparel, in North and West Vancouver. For many years he lived on the North/West Shore, later moving to Brunswick Beach until 1997 when he then moved to Langley. At Joe's request there will be no memorial service. TURNBULL - (Tierney) Mary Elizabeth. This 58 year resident of West Vancouver was born on November 20, 1901 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on April 28, 1999. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Clifford in June, 1941 in Winnipeg, her younger son Michael in June, 1967 and be her two sisters Florence and Gladys. She is survived by her loving son Alan of St, Albert, Alberta, two grandchildren, Tracy and Stuart of Edmonton, Alberta, two nieces in the United States and one cousin of Jersey, Channel Islands.
