DOUGLAS W. RUSSELL
AUG 3, 1940 - DEC 9, 1999
Dear Doug, Eight weeks has passed since you were so tragically taken from us. The memory of the day you were found will remain in my life forever. Your children were a large part of your life, Brad, (Ellen) Jai-Lynn (John), Melissa (Ab), feel a great loss to a person they so lovingly called Dad, they admired your accomplishments in business, your loyalty to the people that you worked with, but most of all, the love you so fondly gave and showed them. To your four cherished grandchildren Emma, Spencer, Blake, Cohen, to them you were their Papa, they now know Papa is an angel in heaven. I know they will always be protected by you and your hugs and kisses will be with them forever. Your sister Maralyn (Dave), your brother Bruce and sister-in-law Joan lost a good friend as well as a brother. Three years ago you had a heart attack, God willed you more time, which we were truly blessed and grateful for. Your working companion Truman misses you so much, he still waits everyday for your whistle. Doug you touched everyone's life that you came in contact with, you brought the positive energy and imagination out in everyone. Your smile and twinkle in your eye will remain with all of us, your belief that you will return in someway, will be with us until we meet again. Your life's dream will continue and with your guidance will be achieved. In every person's life there needs to be a counselor, or a caring, nurturing, encouraging friend. They give people guidance. They give people hope. They help them accept themselves for who they are. They help them set goals. They help them find their purpose. It is truly the work of an angel, that's my dad. Doug you have left us all with a wonderful legacy, you were my gift from God, the memories and love we shared will remain in my heart forever. Love from your wife and companion for 35 years, Jane-Ellen A tribute to Doug's life was held December 16, 1999 at St. David's Church in West Vancouver.
