CLEVEN - Marit, age 93 years, of North Vancouver. Passed away April 3, 2000. Predeceased by her husband Fred in 1952 and daughter Adelene in 1971. Marit is survived by her loving family, daughters Lillian (George) Aldcroft of Qualicum Beach, and Marian (Bob) Nokleby of Everett, Washington; sons Tennie (Margaret) Cleven of Los Angeles, California, and Ron (Marilyn) Cleven of North Vancouver; brother Alvin Svensrud of Coquitlam, and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Marit, born in Lillehammer, Norway to Carl and Anna Svensrud, came to Canada at age two. She was raised in Lancer, Saskatchewan, married in Swift Current in 1924 and farmed near Abbey. A resident of the Vancouver area for 55 years Marit was a loving mother and will be dearly missed by family and friends. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby.

TSCHUMI - Frank. Born February 3, 1907. Passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital, March 22, 2000. Survived by his loving wife Norma and family in Switzerland and England. As a longtime Scottish country dancer Frank will be sadly missed by his fellow dancers. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000 at the Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lions Gate Hospital. PERCIVAL - Myra Doreen Phillips, at 71 years. Passed away peacefully on April 5, 2000 after a courageous fight against breast cancer. She will be forever remembered and missed by her loving husband David, sons Michael, Adrian, Robert, and daughters Fiona, Joanne. Also by in-laws Margit, Karen, Ivana, Bill, Mike, and grandchildren Jake, Becky, Sarah, Annie, Natalina, Francesca, Tatiana, Alessandra, Robert, Nicole. Private family service. GATTO - Prima Emily (nee Albizatti). Born Janury 27, 1907. Passed away peacefully April 5, 2000, surrounded by her loving family, to join her husband Ernesto Santo. She will be sadly missed by her twin sons Daniel Ernesto (Conchita), Leonard Santo (Shirley); her only daughter Gaye Marie Teresa (Bob) Creech; her grandchildren, Barry Leonard (Irene), Michael Daniel, Lori-Ann, Gina Marie (Jeff Green), Ann-Marie, Michelle Emily, and Kimberly; her great-grandchildren, Benjamin Leonard, Samantha Marie and Mitchell Francis; her brother-in-law Reno (Louise) Gatto; and her many many nieces and nephews. SMITH - Joan. Passed away from liver cancer at Lions Gate Hospital on March 31, 2000. Joan was born in London, England, April 13, 1923, then lived in Lewes, Sussex until joining the ATS in December 1941. She served as a radar operator on gun sites on London defence until discharged in March 1945. Married to husband Ron in March 1943. Their son Andy was born 1945. Memorial in Branch 60, West Vancouver Legion, Thursday, April 6, 2000, 2:00 p.m. No flowers by request, donations to Cancer Society in lieu.

COUSINEAU - Marion Laird (nee Joyce). Passed away peacefully, at the age of 66 on March 31, 2000 at Lions Gate Hospital after a brief but courageous fight with cancer. Marion, who recently lost her husband John, will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by son Bill, daughter-in-law Linda, grandchildren Jennifer and Alex; son Brian; brother Bill and sister-in-law Barbara of Markham, Ontario; sister-in-law Rita Cousineau of Kelowna; her nephews and nieces across the country; and by her many, many friends in the community. A longtime resident of North Vancouver, Marion was born and raised in Toronto before moving with "Jack" and the boys to the West Coast in 1959. In 1968, she commenced a lengthy career with Woodwards; a career spanning over twenty years including stops at Park Royal, the Downtown store, and finally the New Westminster Woodwards warehouse before retiring in 1992. Let it be said that Marion was a very special person. She not only put family and friends first, but also first, second and third. Marion's support of others was unconditional; her warmth, sincerity and kindness unmatched. We were all very privileged to have her in our lives. Marion's family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of the Lions Gate Hospital Palliative Care Ward for their understanding and compassion; also special thanks to Dr. Mayo and Dr. Lakha - your efforts meant a lot. Upon her request, there will be no formal memorial service, however an informal celebration of Marion's life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, April 9, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at 2639 Brewster Drive, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, 231 East 15th St, North Vancouver, V7L 2L7 would be greatly appreciated. LEE - Dr. Stephen Pak-Yuen, age 56 years. Passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital on March 31, 2000. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Eileen; sons Adrian and fiancee Tricia, and Byron; mother Lee Tam Suet Lui; sisters Ivy (Spencer) Ng and Diana (Francis) Ng; brothers Jason (Theresa) Lee and Francis (Helena) Lee; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. Stephen was predeceased by his father Charles Chor-Ching Lee. Special thanks to the Emergency staff at Lions Gate Hospital and Dr. Ashe and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Vancouver General Hospital. Those wishing to pay their respects to Dr. Lee and attend the service may do so at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Ave, West Vancouver on Wednesday, April 5, 2000 from 9:00 a.m. until service at 10:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. VanGogh - LaVerne J. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Passed away peacefully at her home Friday, March 24, 2000. Her memory and spirit live on in many hearts and minds.

GREEN - Lorne Arthur. Born January 6, 1950 in North Vancouver. Passed away at home, in West Vancouver, Sunday, April 2, 2000, after a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer. A loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife Jane; son Brady; daughter Laura; mother Grace; brothers Douglas (Marina), Derek (Laurie); sister Alison Munro (Bruce); father and mother-in-law, Bill and Norma Riley; sisters-in-law Margaret Cody (Neil), Barbara Riley; brother-in-law Jim Riley; nephews and nieces Bryce, Jamie, Ryan, Kyle, Ryan, Colin, Carolyn, Adam, John, Steven, Bryn and Veronica. Lorne graduated from the UBC School of Law in 1979, and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1980. He was also a member of the Ontario Bar. For most of his professional life he was a partner with Thorsteinssons where he established many cherished professional and personal relationships. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at the West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt. Our special thanks to the members of the North Shore Palliative Care Program, Lions Gate Hospital Staff, in particular the chemotherapy and radiology staff, the Centre for Integrated Healing, Hope House and the Swedish Medical Center, Seattle, for their support in the ultimate challenge of Lorne's life. She is deeply missed by her husband of 65 years Paulino; daughter Procesa (Avelino); son Mariano (Avelina); grandchildren Archie (Suzy), Leigh (Lyndon). Rachele (John), Neil (Lisa), and Glen; sister Marcela (Philip-pines); and brother Candido (Spain). ANDERSON - RobertLloyd. On April 2, 2000, "Bob" Anderson aged 74. He is lovingly remembered by Barbara; his wife and soulmate of 54 years, daughters Nanci Fulton (Bob), Squamish, B.C., Kate Brenner (Gary) Winnipeg, MB., grandchildren Taryn, Meghan and Terry, and brother Bill Anderson (Adeline). Predeceased by his parents and oldest daughter Terri Lee. Bob was born and raised in Winnipeg and moved to Vancouver's North Shore in 1968. He was a past Commodore of the Thunderbird Yacht Club, and the President of R.L. Anderson Brokerage Ltd. Early days at Lake of the Woods fostered a deep love of boating that he continued to enjoy for many years on the west coast. He was happiest on the water. GOODACRE - Olive Martha. Passed away peacefully on April 2, 2000. She was predeceased by sisters Phyllis and Josephine and is survived by her sister Ena. Olive will be greatly missed by her many friends from Evergreen House, Lions Gate Hospital and her numerous other activities. Memorial service to be held Saturday, April 8, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 13th Street and Chesterfield in North Vancouver. FIELD - Mary Gwendoline. Passed away April 3, 2000, age 77 years, at Lions Gate Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Horace and Viola (nee Holmes), and brother Sidney. Survived by her brother Alan (Margaret), sister-in-law Muriel, nephews David (daughter Shannon), Douglas (Debbie) children Spencer and Vanessa, Brent (Lynda) son Shane, Todd (Laura) children Jake and Afton, nieces Diane (Darwin), Kim (Jeff) Malmquist. Mary will be missed as a dear sister, aunt and friend. A Memorial Service wil be held on Saturday, April 8, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Highlands United Church, 3255 Edgemeont Blvd, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lions Gate Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

KISSINGER - Lloyd Denis. Born July 31, 1928 in Victoria. Died March 25, 2000 in Lions Gate Hospital. Lovingly remembered by Joan, his wife of 49 years; children, Susan Mallette, Scot (Barbara) and Alison; grandchildren Damien, Ryan, Sean, Christopher, Curtis and Claire. Also his devoted mother-in-law Dorothy Chapman. Eleventh child, seventh son of the late John and Anne Kissinger. He is also survived by sisters Lucile, Eleanor and Jeanette; brothers Bill and Ken; "Cousin" Dan; their spouses and families; and many loving friends. Retired in 1991 after 34 happy years at Finning Tractor. Our "Professional Putterer" has put his earthly tools away. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Stephen's Church, 1360 E. 24th St, North Vancouver, Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for your support of the Blood Donor Program, or the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.

GRAHAM - Thomas Steven McLean. Born June 4, 1933 in Deal, Kent, England. Died March 28, 2000 in Palliative Care, Lions Gate Hospital. Survived by his best friend and loving wife of 45 years, Helen; daughter Patricia and son-in-law Ken Mehan; sisters Susan McCubbin and Isabel Graham, Glasgow, Scotland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ina and Stan Pallett, Toronto; sisters-in-law Margaret French, Scotland and Anne Lindsay, Toronto; nieces and nephews in Greater Vancouver, Pauline and Les Mushens, Rhona and Tam McFeeters, Ross and Rae Pallett, Ian and Susan Pallett; close family friend Barbara Templeton; and many nephews and nieces in Toronto, Ontario, and Galsgow, Scotland; as well as grandnephews and nieces. Tom's work life was in General Insurance but his passion was golf and was a member of the Vancouver Golf Club since 1973. No funeral service by request. In commemoration of Tom's life, donations to the Palliative Care Unit, Lions Gate Hospital or to Cancer Research will be appreciated. SMART - Roy of North Vancouver, B.C. Born August 20, 1918 in Leicester, England. Passed away peacefully on March 28, 2000 at Lions Gate Hospital. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Margaret, sons Raymond (Solange) and William, grandchildren Jamey and Kim. Private service at First Memorial. Donations may be made to Cancer or Heart Research in lieu of flowers.

STEWART - Sara B. (Ciss) nee Pringle. March 31, 1900-April 9, 2000. Predeceased by her husband J.R. (Jack Stewart) in April 1984; grandson Brent Stewart in November 1991. Survived and lovingly remembered by her children: son Glen (Audrey), daughter Dorothy Burtwell; grandchildren Brian (Freda), Jeff and Marty Burtwell, Ron (Darlene), Todd (Georgia) Stewart; great-grandchildren Sara and Kyle Burtwell and Trevor, Monique, Tristan and Natasha Stewart.She has gone home to be with the Lord. Special thanks to the staff on 3rd floor extended care at Capilano Care Centre for their loving care and support. Family gathering later.

BLOOM, John (Jack) Palmer. Born October 13, 1928 in Bracken, Saskatchewan. Passed away peacefully on April 7, 2000 after losing his battle with cancer. Jack is survived by his loving wife Helen, his three children Doug (Wendy), Gord (Kari) and Shirl (Ian) and his two sisters Pat and Marilyn (Gary). "Grandpa" will be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren Jason, Derek, Colin, Craig, Ryan, Kristen, Carlee and Christian. Jack had many close friends through his work, his long association with sports and most recently with his family of friends at Lions Gate Studios. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2000 at 2:30 p.m. Lynn Valley United Church, 3201 Mountain Hwy, North Vancouver. Those who wish may send donations in Jack's memory to Lions Gate Palliative Care, 231 East 15th St. North Van, V7L 2L7 or to Canuck Place, 1690 Matthews, Vancouver, V6J 2T2. A special thank you to the nursing staff of 7 west and Dr. M. Bruchet.

McLEAN - Wilbur Harold. Born in Vancouver, October 7, 1917. Passed away peacefully March 25, 2000 at Lions gate Hospital with Maude, his wife of 46 years, by his bedside. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his sister Doreen Alexander and husband Garfield; niece Gail Snelling and husband Cliff and their family; also sister-in-law Gladys Lowry and family. During the war Harold was in the Merchant Navy, and retired from the Vancouver Fire Dept in 1979 after thirty years of service. A private memorial service will be held. Flowers gratefully declined. STASESON - Marie Ruth (nee Sopkow). Passed away peacefully April 11, 2000 at Inglewood Lodge in West Vancouver, B.C. Marie was born January 24, 1909 in Mikado, Saskatchewan to Rudolph and Todosia (Fedorchuk) Sopkow. Marie was predeceased by her first husband Steve Stefan (from an accident), brothers John, Joe and Ernest, sister Ann (in infancy). She is survived by her sister Anne Stefan; brother Alex (Min) Sopkow; daughter Patricia (Roy) Smith; son Jack (Mary Lou) Staseson; son Harvey (Sharon) Staseson; ex-husband John Staseson, grandchildren Scott (Carol) Smith, Lynelle (Paul) Arsenault, Jon, Heidi, Ali and Tori Staseson; three great-grandchildren Sarah and Emily Arsenault and Marshal Smith. Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2000 at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church, 599 Keith Road, West Vancouver, B.C.
