STANNUS - Conrad Joseph. Died at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York on Wednesday, April 12, 2000, aged 44 years, after a lengthy illness. SCHELL - Grace Isabella. Much loved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2000 at the age of ninety-six. She is survived by her three children, Margaret van der Linden and husband Jerry of Calgary, Alberta, Jane Cameron and husband Patrick Brabazon of Lund, B.C. and Peter Schell and wife Linda of North Vancouver. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four nieces. Grace was very active into her 90's in community and church service in West Vancouver. WILLIS - Heather (nee Angell). It is with great sadness that the Angell family announce the passing of Heather Willis, age 59 years, on April 4, 2000 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, while on a visit to her sister Valerie and Guru Swami Shankarananda in Mount Eliza, Australia at the Peninsula Meditation Centre (Ashram). Heather reluctantly succumbed to the illness which she had valiantly fought for 11 years. Heather was a longtime member of the Vancouver Real Estate Board where she enjoyed a successful career as a realtor with Henley &Associates Realty Ltd on the North Shore. She encouraged and helped many first time home buyers, who remained her friends and supporters. In recent years Heather had become devoted to meditation and yoga, which transformed her understanding of life and helped her come to peace with herself. Surrounded by friends and family she maintained humour and compassion to the end. Predeceased by her father Arthur in February 1989, she will be sadly missed by mother Billie; daughter Laura; grandsons Dean and Dustin Kroeker; sister Perry MacGregor and partner Ian Dungate; sister Valerie; brothers Duncan, Douglas, Norman and partner Heather; many nieces and nephews. Heather also leaves behind many friends who she loved dearly. A warm loving thank you to Dr. Remick for his many years of support. CARRIE - Ernest John (Ernie). Passed away peacefully at the Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver on April 24, 2000. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 17, 1920 he is predeceased by his parents Mary and Tom; and brother Thomas. Ernie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved family: son Russell (Mary); and his devoted grandchildren, Robert, Jordan and Lindsay of Victoria; as well as his son Roger; and daughters Roslyn, Shirley and Leslie (Gerry) French. Ernie served his country overseas with the RCAF where he forged many lifelong friends and memories, especially his time spent in Aliford Bay and Pat Bay prior to going overseas. After the war Ernie had a long and distinguished career in the wholesale drapery industry and was one of the founding members of the Window Coverings Association. Ernie was active throughout his life in many service clubs, minor sports and charities. Each of us has our own special memories of Ernie that we will cherish and that will bring smiles to our hearts. BIRTHISTLE - Dorothy. Passed away on Easter Sunday in her 85th year, at home where she loved to be with her daughters Dorcas and Anne. Also deeply missed by her son John (Dawn) and family, her sister Kitty (Ron) in England, and her dear friends Lorna, Mike and famiy. BURGESS - Jean. Born in Sheffield, England on December 12, 1935. Passed away Easter Saturday, April 22, 2000. SPRATT - Bill (Capt. William Nicolson, Retired). Beloved father, grandfather and friend died suddenly at home at the age of 83 years. He was born on June 15, 1916 in Castor, Alberta. Predeceased by his loving wife LeMoyne (Landvik). Bill is survived by his daughters Linda, Laurel (David) and cherished grandchildren Graeme (Rachel), Andrew, Kelsey and Jesse. As a youth in Castor, his lifelong passion for flying was ignited when a touring barnstorm flyer buzzed the local high school. Dad's career as a pilot began with the RCAF in World War II and continued for 33 years with Air Canada. After retirement Dad focused his talents, energy and commitment to being a volunteer. He was a founding member of and diligent contributor to his co-op apartment complex, a Kiwanian, a devoted member of his United Church congregation and an active participant in a variety of aviation associations. His other favorite pastime was walking on the West Van sea wall. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and a wide circle of colleagues. A memorial service in celebration of our father's life is to be held at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Ave, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2000. Flowers gratefully declined.
