O'NEILL - Peacefully on December 1, 2000, Thomas O'Neill of Squamish, aged 79 years. Predeceased by his wife Annas in 1996. He is lovingly remembered by his family, son Michael (Leslie) O'Neill; daughter Maureen (Dale) Steinkoph; granddaughters Jennifer, Sarah, and Maegan; grandson Jason, and his many dear friends. LEESON - Muriel Ellen (nee Goode), aged 87. Passed away December 8, 2000. She will be greatly missed by her son Rob; daughters, Clare McKenzie and Heather Farrell; grandchildren Lesley and Ross McKenzie, and their father Doug; brother Norman Goode; and many more family members. Muriel graduated from UBC, and later married Robert B. who predeceased her in 1996. She spent many happy years with her family, volunteering, boating and travelling. She was a very caring person and was much admired by a wide circle of friends. FITZ-GERALD - Reginald Leonidas. Passed away December 9, 2000 at Lions gate Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on August 13, 1913 in Edmonton, Alberta, the eldest of three sons born to Reginald and Daisy Fitz-Gerald. He was raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and with his wife, Irene, operated his own trucking business prior to enlisting in 1940. He served in the military from 1940 until 1963, serving in several theatres during his career with the Engineers. He was an avid woodworker and sports fisherman and an active Legion member for many years. Following retirement from the military, he worked for the Municipality of Chilliwhack in maintenance and building inspection. Through his interest in boating and fishing he also developed a longstanding connection with Sunset Marina in West Vancouver and had worked full-time there for the past several years. Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at Henderson's Funeral Home Chapel, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack. Major John Moore officiating. Cremation will precede the service at Valley Crematorium. NIXON - Sybil Nancy. Born in South Africa on July 7, 1911. Answered God's call on December 10, 2000 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sybil is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Ted and their legacy -- four children - Jenifer (Derek) Purchase, Graham (Moira), Alan (Cathy) and Gillian (Alex) Bird -- ten grandchildren Jim, Kim (Susan), Sheelagh (Sean), Andrew, Lesley, Wendy, Angela, Kirby, Michael and Meredith and four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Drew, Megan and Matthew. She is also survived by her brother Sedley, sister-in-law Joan and several nieces and nephews in Canada, South Africa and U.S.A. Sybil spent the last six months in her home, surrounded by her family and friends and, for all, she set an inspiring example of strength, dignity, peace and faith! Her days at home were eased by the help from the Community Health Service. During the last week, in the Palliative Care Ward at Lions Gate Hospital, an incredible group of health professionals and volunteers eased her final journey. In appreciation of these special care-givers, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Pallliative Care Ward, c/o Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. McINTYRE - Albert Bruce. C.P.G.A., C.R.M. on December 2, 2000, at M.S.A. Hospital, in his 63rd year. He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Ann; mother Norma McIntyre; sister Mollie Cooper; sons Paul (Angela), Ross (Brandi), Jay (Karen) and stepsons Mark (Kathleen) and Jason Falconer; grandchildren Brodie and Emma Rose and Maisie Jane; nieces Donna, Dianne, Janet, Sue; and nephew Murray; and the Krueger in-laws Erna, Lorraine and Gary (Margie). Predeceased by his father Charles McIntyre and his brother-in-law Charles Derek Cooper. Bruce was the Treasurer of the District of Matsqui and then the City of Abbotsford for 27 years. Upon his retirement from the City of Abbotsford in 1995, Bruce assumed ownership of Excel Strata Management Inc. He was the Property Manager for many apartment and townhouse complexes in Abbotsford and Langley for the past four years until he became ill. He was past president of the American Saddlebred Horse Association of B.C.; past president of the Government Finance Officers' Association of B.C., and a former Director of Ledgeview Golf &Country Club Society. His wide variety of interests included American Saddle-bred Show Horses, sailing, diving, travelling, the Mariners and his pooch Pepper. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers. Funeral services were held in Abbots-ford, Tuesday December 5, 2000. GARDINER - Marlene (Hanson) left us unexpectedly on Sunday, June 3, 2001. Marlene's loving spirit will be remembered and honored by her family and the many friends she cherished.
