Age 71 years of Murillo Ontario passed peacefully at Langley Lodge, on Friday June 25, 2004. Born September 18, 1932. She will be missed as a loving and caring Mother and Grandmother. In her last year, Rheta made her home at the Langley Lodge, where she befriended all the nurses, care aides, housekeeping, kitchen staff, the chef, and with a compassionate social worker that we as family could talk to in times of need who were equally loved in return. Rheta is survived by her two daughters; Susan and Shirley, as well as four sons; Brian, Randy, Danny and David with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. CARTER - Alvilda (Velda)
Ruth Velda Carter passed away peacefully on August 4, 2004 in her 78th year surrounded by her loving family and following a courageous battle with cancer. Velda was born on May 17, 1926 in Moncton, New Brunswick, the daughter of Allie and Flossie Collier, where she spent her youth with her seven brothers and one sister. Married to Richard (Dick) Carter when he returned from service in the 2nd World War, Velda's time as a military wife spanned 24 years. With Dick, Son Gary and daughter Sandra, she created homes in Chilliwack, Kingston, Whitehorse, Winnipeg and finally put down roots in Chilliwack for the past 30 years. Velda is survived by her son, Gary Carter of Chilliwack and her daughter, Sandra Burnett (Keith) of Chilliwack three grandsons, Richard Carter (Kerri) of Abbotsford, Brad Carter of Chilliwack and Rob Burnett of Chilliwack; four great grandchildren, Sydnie, Carly, Brette and Brooke; one brother, Hollis Collier of Moncton and one sister, Carmen Woortman of Moncton and her dear friend Richard Bradford of Chilliwack. Velda was pre-deceased by her husband Dick, in 1993, and six brothers, Earl, Jack, Ray, Brock, Winslow and Aldean Collier. A celebration of Velda's life with family and friends will be held at Minter Gardens at a date to be determined.

Passed into the presence of her Lord peacefully on Monday evening, August 2, 2004 at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, BC in her 85th year. Anne lived in Abbotsford since 1982 and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Anne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to care for her family with her baking and keeping the families freezers full. Mom crocheted and sewed many items for her family. Anne was predeceased by her husband Oscar in 1998, father Albert Stachowzki, mother Adellegunde (nee Pegusch), brothers Reinhold, Wilhelm, Henry, Arnold, Edward, Herb and Ernest and sisters Elsie and Alma. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her 2 daughters: Marge of Kirkland, WA and Verna (Bryan) of Langley; 6 grandchildren : Sheri, Stacey (Micah), Tom (Heather), Melissa (Kelly), Pamela (Darren) and Jason (Priscilla); 6 great grandchildren: Jesse, Ashley, Amber, Amanda, Savanna and Davin as well as brother Adolf (Dorothy) and 3 sisters Harriet, Erna (Herb) and Lillian and sisters-in-law Mary, Ruth, Edna and Lydia. Sheila, a long-time Dundarave Beachie, passed away peacefully at Evergreen House in North Vancouver on Friday, August 6 2004. She will be missed by her children Robert (Annika), Elizabeth (Dan), Alice (Randy), Miriam (Said) and Jennifer (Ken), her grandchildren Todd, Jason, Brook, Gates, Charles, Sean, David, Paul, Lise, Farah, Nadia, Wil and Molly, her great grandchildren, Sofia, Marcus, Christopher and John, sister-in-law Carman, outlaw Tim, and her partners in crime Gerry, Donna and Jane. Before settling in West Vancouver, Sheila and her husband Les were the backbone of many mining towns in BC and Ontario. Wherever they resided, Sheila and Les left their mark on the community with their generosity of spirit, great parties, and wicked backhands! After Leslie's death, Sheila insisted on living independently and even at the age of 83she Did it Her Way . She had a passion for Vera's hamburgers, Dundarave beach, and a good song to dance to. She loved her sunny afternoons with a sip of rum and coke watching the cruise ships go by. We are going to miss that smile, that wit, and that tenacity. She was a spit-fire and a beauty. This past year she was tenderly taken care of by the staff at Evergreen House, where she won their hearts with her beautiful smile! Words cannot express how much we appreciate the love, support, and care given by the crew of Evergreen One South. Service will be held at 2:00, Friday, August 13th at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. MOONEY - Helene Barbara
Born August 28, 1920 at Hazel Hill, N.S., died peacefully on the morning of Saturday, July 31, 2004 in the Palliative Care Unit at Vancouver Hospital after a long and brave struggle with lymphoma. Predeceased by her husband Wilfrid Thomas Mooney and her brother Eric Stephenson, she leaves behind her partner of 14 years, Ronald Rose; four children, Kevin, Katherine, Maggie and Christopher; and five grandchildren, David Katz, Caitlin Mooney-Fu, Tybalt, Zola and Segovia Mooney. Helene will be remembered lovingly by her family and a host of loyal friends for her quick wit, generosity of spirit, boundless curiosity and great passion for fun and friendship. At her request there will be no service, but on August 28th, Helene's 84th birthday, a memorial tea will be held from 3 to 5:30 at Shaughnessy Restaurant at Van Dusen Gardens, 5251 Oak Street, Vancouver. TORGERSEN - Susanne (Epp)
October 9, 1914 - August 3, 2004.
Susanne passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 3 as the first drops of a summer rain began to fall. Leaving behind to remember her with love are her daughter Arlene (Mike) McInnis of North Vancouver, her son Angus Torgersen of Calgary, her sister Sarah (Sally) Siebert of Hermiston, Oregon, her brother Jacob (Jake) Epp of Stettler, Alberta and her extended family Phyllis, Murray, Pauline, Gordon and Diane McInnis. She was predeceased by sisters Martha and Helene and brothers Abraham (Abe) and William. Susanne was born on a farm in Langham, Saskatchewan where she lived with her six siblings through the Depression. She left the farm to become a nurse and graduated from the Saskatoon City Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. before leaving the profession in her early 50's to become a secretary. After receiving top honours at secretarial school, Susanne worked for the R.C.M.P. in Red Deer, Alberta and Canada Manpower in Calgary before retiring to Vancouver. Susanne's last years were spent at Cedarview Lodge and the Kiwanis Care Centre in North Vancouver. She made many friends among the residents and staff at both facilities. Her family extends their sincere thanks to the caring staff at Cedarview Lodge and the Kiwanis Care Centre. Susanne loved the attention and appreciated the assistance and care she received from the devoted staff. Also thank you to the "Cedarview Ladies" of KCC whose friendship, concern and prayers meant a lot to Susanne. No service by request. Susanne will be honoured at the Kiwanis Care Centre's Celebration of Life service later in August. The tide recedes, But leaves behind Bright seashells in the sand. Born April 23, 1929 passed away at Peace Arch Hospital on August 4, 2004. He is survived by his loving family, many dear friends and his "Girls" Brooke and Drew.
