Raymond Brost

Raymond Brost passed away on December 22, 2012 in Creston, B.C. at the age of 84 years.
Ray was born to parents Elsie and Emanuel Brost on November 3, 1928 in Richmound, SK.
Ray married the love of his love, Helen Scott, in Canyon, B.C. on June 22, 1949 and they started their family together, something that he always held dear. Ray was Helen’s rock – a constant source of support throughout their marriage, an incredible and loving father and an inspiration to his grandchildren… he never ceased to amaze them. Any time spent with Ray was very precious to his family and friends alike, creating many positive memories.
Ray was very proud to have served in the Armed Forces division of the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers (R.C.E.M.E.) for ten years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 29 in Creston, B.C. Some of Ray's hobbies included spending time with his beloved family, tending to his garden – where he grew the best tomatoes in town – and spending time outside with his wife, Helen, and their precious little dog, Tia. He always had open arms to welcome a friend or family member into their home.
Ray was predeceased by his parents Elsie and Emanuel Brost and brothers Elroy, Tony, Wayne and Vernon Brost.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Helen; children Larry (Carol) Brost, Su (Lyn) Klimack, Lori (Bill) Cameron and Clayton Brost; grandchildren Anita Borkowski, Colin Brost, Danielle Cameron; great-grandchildren Mordachai, Haley and Riley; and sister Lorraine (Bob).
There will be no service by request.

Nina Louise Nesbitt (nee Phipps)
December 27, 2012
Nina Louise Nesbitt (nee Phipps), of Creston, B.C., passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the Creston Valley Hospital at the age of 81 years.
Nina was born to parents Harry and Martha Phipps in Burdett, AB. The youngest of five children, the Phipps came by horse and wagons to Creston when Nina was two years of age. Nina was a long time employee of the Creston Valley Co-op and later went to work at the Packing Shed when Co‑op closed.
Nina was predeceased by parents Harry and Martha Phipps; sister Vi Starks; and brother Ray Phipps.
She will be remembered by her three children, Barbara Bailey of Fort St. James, B.C., Bruce (Deb) Nesbitt of Stoney Plain, AB, and Mary Jane Jackman of Fruitvale, BC; two sisters Marble Gray and Lois Price of Creston, BC; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Graveside Service was held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, B.C.

PAULINE BICCUM
April 22, 1939 ~ December 16, 2012
It is with deep sadness that the family of Pauline Biccum announces her sudden passing on December 16, 2012 while on vacation in San Tan Valley, Arizona at the age of 73.
Pauline was born April 22, 1939 in Wadena, Saskatchewan to parents Alex and Polly Pereverzoff. The family moved to Erickson, B.C. in March 1943. Pauline attended elementary school in Erickson and graduated from Prince Charles High School in 1957. She married Art Biccum on January 16, 1959 in Creston.
Pauline was a skilled typist and bookkeeper and naturally went into the secretarial field. She worked part-time for a local tire shop, accountant, and lawyers office, eventually working for the Town of Creston, where she stayed for 17 years before retiring in May 1994.
Pauline was an avid gardener, and loved sharing the bounty of her fruit, vegetable and flower gardens. She was a fabulous cook and made many ethnic dishes from her Russian heritage, as well as her famous spaghetti feasts. Along with her husband Art, she enjoyed golfing, curling, dancing, travelling, camping, and socializing with friends. They spent summers with their family and friends at Kootenay Lake boating and relaxing. Pauline was very health conscious throughout her life and in recent years participated in tai chi, line dancing, swimming and walking. Pauline was very proud of her children; her family’s well-being was first and foremost in her life. She was fortunate to have many close friends and enjoyed getting together over lunch or tea. Pauline had a vibrant, positive personality and had a special way of making children to adults feel loved and cared for with her friendly, compassionate manner. Her wonderful spirit, optimism, generosity and love are the legacy she leaves with her children, and will be remembered by all who knew her.
Pauline was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Art, parents Alex and Polly Pereverzoff, brother Bill, sister Phyllis and granddaughter Jaida Kooy.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Don; daughters Laurie (Bud) Heald, Debbie (Anthony) Kooy, Carrie (Rick) Czar; grandchildren Amanda (Brad) and Riley (Rebecca) Biccum, Ashley (Rob) and Erinn (Dustin) Heald, Jacob Kooy, Reegan, Brayden and Jordin Czar; great-grandchildren Scarlett and Hunter Biccum, Emalee and Ethan Greenwood; sister Dorothy (Jim) Louie, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many close friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Creston Room of the Creston Community Complex, Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating.

Kuny, Dave
David ( Dave ) Kuny, passed away at his Creston residence with family by his side on December 26th, 2012 at the age of 72 years, after a lengthy illness. He was born to Caroline and Peter Kuny on April 15th, 1940 at Tisdale, SK, where he received his education.
Dave married Sharon Townsend in Tisdale, SK on July 28th, 1962, and had three children before moving to British Columbia. Dave worked in the plumbing and heating business in Saskatchewan and British Columbia, and was employed at Pyramid Builders for some 20 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed spending hours in his garden, fishing and hunting.
He was predeceased by his daughter Caren, parents Caroline and Peter Kuny, brothers Frank, Tony, Mike and sister Josephine.
Dave will be dearly missed by his loving wife Sharon, sons Robert ( Lori ) and Dean ( Colleen), grandchildren Taylor and Jared, brothers Adam ( May ) and sister Mary (Norman) and many nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Funeral Service is to be held on Friday January 4th, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating. Cremation took place at the Kootenay Lake Crematorium Ltd., Creston, BC

Miller, Gustav "Gus"
Gustav ( Gus ) Miller passed away suddenly at his residence on December 23rd, 2012 at the age of 82 years, following an lengthy illness. Gus was born to Augusta and Gustaf Miller on August 6th, 1930 at Mellowdale, Alberta, where he received his formal education.
Gus and Anna moved to Creston in 1966 from northern British Columbia. He worked for 45 years in the garage business, the last being the building of Rainbow Equipment, selling International farm equipment.
He enjoyed family and friends, holidaying in Arizona with family and growing a large vegetable garden.
Gus will be sadly missed by his wife Anna, son Russell ( Leeane) of Creston and daughter Laurel and granddaughters Dawn and Erin Miller.
The funeral service was held on Friday December 28th, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the New Life Christian Church with Pastor Gordon Lawrence officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, B.C.
