Manfred Kemper
March 7, 1946 – June 16, 2013
Manfred, a resident of Creston, B.C., formerly of Calgary, AB, passed away suddenly Sunday June 16th, 2013 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, Cranbrook, B.C. at the age of 67 years. Manfred will be sadly missed by his wife Helga, children, grandchildren and step - children.
Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Hoover, Douglas Hudson
Douglas Hudson Hoover, passed away at the Swan Valley Lodge on June 17th, 2013 at the age of 87 years, after a lengthy illness. Doug was born March 26, 1926 to Florence and Hudson Hoover at Calgary, Alberta and received his education at Crossfield, AB. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
He was predeceased by his parents Florence and Hudson Hoover. Doug will be dearly missed by his brother Roy ( Jean ) Hoover, nephew Gordon ( Janet ) Hoover, nieces Shelley Hoover, Melody ( Brad ) McClain, Monica ( Ian ) Waldie and great nieces and nephews Jocelyn and Ashley Hoover, Sydney and Evan McClain and Finan Hoover-Waldie.
Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial funeral service is to be held in Calgary.
CYR, Maureen Antoinette (nee Frie)
February 24, 1942, Trail, B.C. – June 8, 2013, Creston, BC
Maureen passed away Saturday June 8 with her devoted and loving husband of 50 years, Jerry, by her side.
Their daughters Nanette (Jeff), Jennifer and Andrea; sister Eileen (Leo) and best friends Cecile (Tommy) and Elva, miss her already.
A Memorial Funeral Service was held in Creston on June 14. Interment in Rossland, with her parents, Tony & Mary Frie and brother Pat, will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to P.A.W.S., the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society or to the charity of your choice, is appreciated.

Dean Wong
October 20, 1944 - June 1, 2013
Dean Wong passed away on June 1, 2013 in the Creston Valley at the age of 68 years.
Dean was born to parents Yu Yee and Tom on October 20, 1944 in Toyson, China. In 1959, Dean arrived in Erickson, with his mother Yu Yee, where they joined his grandparents, Sun Kee (Mah You Hong) and his wife, Lee You Kee. After high school, Dean studied in Kelowna to be an electrician. He worked for May Day Electric before taking full time work on the family farm (orchard).
Dean was known by all for his easy smile and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Dean was predeceased by his parents.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cindy; daughter Melaine; son Hanley and brother Altin (Faye).
A Funeral Service was held on June 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at G. F. Oliver Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tom Greentree officiating.

Hendren, Stanley 'Stan' George
Stanley George Hendren passed away suddenly at his home in Wynndel, B.C. on October 30, 2013 at the age of 92 years.
Stanley was born in Vancouver, B.C. on February 7th, 1921 to a Creston pioneer family. He lived the majority of his life in the Creston Valley. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII, and at the war’s end worked decommissioning navy vessels in Esquimalt. It was here that he met and married Lorraine Turner. He brought her back to Creston to begin raising a family and start a 33 year career with Canada Customs. After 25 years of marriage, sadly Lorraine passed away. Later he was blessed to find love again, marrying Zora Webber, and helping to raise her two children during their 29 year union. Many grandchildren followed providing much joy in his life.
Stan was a keen observer of nature, a successful hunter and keen fly fisherman. He loved sharing these skills with his families.
He served as Secretary-Treasurer of the local Legion, and actively served with the Shriners.
Stan was predeceased by his parents, Lillian and George; his wives, Lorraine and Zora; and all his younger siblings, Ethel, Sis, Theo and Alvin.
He is survived by his children Murray (Margaret) of Vancouver and Gary (Connie) of Victoria, Allana (Wayne) Annett of Cranbrook and Wade Webber (Michele) of Wynndel, as well as 8 grandchildren (Paul & Elizabeth, Ryan & Mark, Jody & Rowdy, Rayna & Reece) and 7 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, November 8th, 2013 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Doug Stapleton Officiating.

Meers, Joseph (Joe) Theodore
Theodore Joseph Meers of Canyon-Lister passed away on October 31st, 2013, at the age of 92 years.
Joe was born on May 24th 1921 in St. Truiden – Belgium. Joe was educated at The University of Liege, Belgium.
Joe was in the English Army and he was called to Burma in WWII. He was very active with the resistance in Belgium.
It was in Belgium, in 1946 that he started Judo. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1966, and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he worked with Manitoba Hydro.
Joe founded the Kettle Rapid Judo Club, in Gilam, MB, which had over 100 members. Joe was also a member of the Hirois Judo Club in Calgary, Alberta.
In 1978 he married Lika Skarzynska and they resided in Calgary, Alberta. In 1987 they moved to Creston, B.C. In 1988 Joe took over the Judo Club in the Creston Fire Hall and continued until 2006.
Joe enjoyed being close to nature where he could enjoy life to its fullest. His many interests include hiking, skiing, bicycling, horse riding, rappelling, exploring the back country, gold panning, and cutting trails for ATVing. He was also an avid reader.
Joe lived a full life to the end.
Joe was predeceased by his mother Marie Therese and father Joseph Meers and sisters Andree, Dora and Nana.
He is survived by his loving wife Lika Meers – Skarzynska, daughter, Dora O’Brien (Fred),son Leo Meers and Lika’s son Paul Ruminski (Louise), eight grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at the Holy Cross Church on November 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Tom Kakkaniyil Officiating.

Clinton (Clint) Clifford Boe
1957 – 2013
It was with sadness that we announce the passing of Clinton on October 29, 2013, at his home in Lister, B.C. at the age of 56 years.
Clint was born in Olds, Alberta on February 1957 to parents Nancy and Lawrence Boe. At four months old they moved to the Yukon. He attended school in Destruction Bay, Yukon until grade six. Growing up there he enjoyed hunting on a pack train with his dad and played broomball in the winter.
In April 1969 the family moved to Creston, B.C. where Clint attended A.R.E.S. Elementary then P.C.S.S. The family had ponies and Clint was very active in gymkhana and started driving pony chariots and chuck wagons very young, he became a skilled teamster. He loved his horses, hunting and fishing.
After graduation he served his apprenticeship as an auto body technician and was a perfectionist.
His hobbies included building up their acreage and restoring an antique automobile. He was a member of the Back Country Horsemen, Creston Valley Horse Club and the Gear Heads.
Clint married the love of his life Mona Bryans on August 31, 1985 in Creston, B.C.
He lived life to the fullest and will be missed by family and friends.
Clint was predeceased by Grand parents Cliff and Nettie Boe and Ken and Violet Hand of Alberta; father in law Cliff Bryans of Creston, B.C. brother in law Dick Bryans of Creston, B.C. and uncle Melford Boe of Parksville, B.C.
Clint is survived by his loving wife Mona of Lister, B.C. mother Nancy Boe of Cranbrook, B.C. father Lawrence (Lynne) Boe of Creston, B.C. sister Katie (Ken) Kriz of Lethbridge, Alberta, brother Sheldon (Tammy) Boe of Cranbrook, B.C. and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Celebration Of Life Gathering was held on November 9th 2013 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at 1581 Huscroft Rd. Lister, B.C.
