Mrs. Cora Hazel Wiebe
May 6, 1936 - July 31, 2007
Hazel passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 31, 2007.
Hazel was born in Herbert, Sask. on May 6, 1936.
Now to be reunited with her husband Art at Hatley Memorial Gardens.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Sherri, Cindy (Jim) and Randy and her six adoring grandchildren, Randi-Lee, Brenden, Ryan, Tyler, Nathan and Helena.
She was the youngest in a family of ten children: Al, Art, Nick, Abe, Jake, Ben, Tillie, Ern, Gladys and mom Lena.
After moving from Medicine Hat, Alta with her family in 1967 to Victoria, B.C., she made Bray Avenue her home for the next 40 years.
No one worked harder than she did, dedicating her life to taking care of others, from being a Health Care Worker at the Aberdeen Hospital, to enjoying her retirement years.
She still gave her heart by donating her time and energy to sewing for "Blankets and Bears", and making cookies, canned fruit and homemade jam for the grandchildren.
She loved to go for walks with friends or spend time with her little buddy Zoey or work in her yard.
She was a proud and active member of Gordon United Church and will be missed by her church family as well.
Nothing made her happier than donating her time doing whatever needed to be done.
She was a amazing, loving woman to all who knew her and there will never be another "Bramma" like her.
A celebration of Hazel's life will be Friday, August 10, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Gordon United Church, 935 Goldstream Avenue.
There will be a viewing at Sands Funeral Chapel, 317 Goldstream Avenue, Thursday, August 9, 2007 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
In memory of Hazel the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to "Blankets and Bears" at Juan de Fuca Senior Citizens Centre, Colwood, B.C.

Dear Dad: Thank you for all you have done for us.
As a child growing up in Nanaimo you developed a lifelong passion for sailing.
You gave us the knowledge and an appreciation for the sport.
We have found over the years that sailing has provided us with a refuge from the challenges of every day life.
Your 46 years of success in the automobile and real estate business in the Cowichan Valley gave you the perspective with which to teach us the life skills necessary to ensure our success in our chosen interests.
Your hard work and perseverance not only set a great example but also gave us opportunities while growing up that were not available to most kids at the time.
Your executive level involvement with the Green Mountain Ski Resort and the Maple Bay Yacht Club, over the many years, impressed upon us that there is more to life than just work and play.
Volunteering and getting involved without regard to financial reward is essential to healthy balance in life.
You kept us busy camping, snow skiing and sailing.
You felt that having these interests would keep us out of trouble in our teen years.
You were right again.
What you also accomplished was ensuring our healthy lifestyles.
Your incredible positive attitude and enthusiasm taught us that life should be lived to the fullest.
That challenges should be met head on.
Solutions to problems would show themselves when a positive attitude and hard work are applied.
We loved to be around you, you made family gatherings fun and interesting.
We learned to focus on your many strengths and ignore your few weaknesses, another life lesson.
So dad it is unfortunate that we did not have the chance to pass these thoughts on to you before it was too late for you to understand.
Hopefully you still get the paper.
We will miss you, we love you, good bye.
