Stan passed away peacefully January 4th, 2008 at Nanaimo. He was born June 5th, 1921 in Pibroch Alberta
After proudly serving in WWII, he came to Coombs where he met and married Carolyn. They were married in 1946 and spent 61 years together until her passing in April 2007.
He was a logger for many years before becoming a commercial fisherman until his retirement.
Stan & Carol made many trips to Reno (after all, their name was Gamble).
He is survived by brother Phil, daughters Darlene (Neil) Nicholson and April (Doug) Banks, granddaughters Traci Nicholson, Brenda Nicholson, Terri (Josh) Roberts, Amber (Sean) Croteau, Lindsey (Jesse) Prontack. Also great grandsons, Quinn Roberts, Ben Roberts and Caden Prontack.
“Stan the Man” will be sadly missed by his family and neighbours as well as many friends at Wembley Mall.
No service by request.

(PRZYBYSLAWSKI) PRESS, Joseph passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2008 at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife, Danuta, his children George Press and wife Terry, Christyne Pitt and her husband Kerry, his grandchildren Jennifer (James), Stephanie (Jon), Kylie Ann, Morgen and Marlon, his great granddaughters Emma and Anika and many nieces and nephews in Poland.
We will remember him fondly working in the garden, playing with his grandchildren and always being there for us.
We would like to thank the dedicated nurses and care aides on the third floor at Qualicum Gardens for their wonderful care and patience with our Dad.
They are truly angels in disguise.
A funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Ascension on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 11:00 am.

Born April 15th, 1939 Kenosha, Wisconsin joined God in his kingdom on Tuesday, December 18th, 2007.
The Duncan Family wishes to thank the many friends and colleagues who have provided unceasing support, prayers and comfort to their family and their courageous matriarch, Kathleen O’Connor Duncan. Yesterday, with her family by her side, Kathi peacefully ended her inspiring battle.
Kathi leaves behind her loving husband and best friend of 43 years Bill, daughter’s Colleen & Suzanne, Granddaughter Madelene, Step children, Ifoma, Rachel (Greg) Brooks, Deborah and William Jr. Margaret (Newell) O’Connor, brothers Charles (Judy) O’Connor, James (Joan) O’Connor and Sister Eileen O’Connor. Kathi loves the holidays, but her favourite time of the year is Christmas – a time of spiritual birth, a celebration of family, a time when one of her greatest gifts, that of her selfless giving, is shared and seen in so many.
Her family knows that Kathi’s wish would be that her life and legacy are celebrated at this time. That tears shed would be shed in celebration of a woman who lived as a soldier for so many. Kathi’s family, husband William, daughters Colleen and Suzanne and granddaughter Madelčne, would like you to know that your support these past many weeks has made a tremendous difference and are coveted even more now.
Services will be held at Catholic Church of the Ascension at 11am, Friday, Dec. 28, 887 Wembley Road, Parksville, B.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dr. Paul Klimo’s Chemo Clinic at Lion’s Gate Hospital and the Oceanside Hospice Society.

BOUILLET, Raymond Henry born June 02, 1927 Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan.
Died peacefully January 01, 2008 in Nanaimo, B.C.
Ray leaves behind grieving sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins, many friends and neighbours. His infectious smile and cheerful jokes will no longer entertain us, but our hearts and memories are enriched through life with him. As well as diligently supporting his political candidates and their campaigns, he actively contributed to the island communities where he lived and worked. As a longstanding member and past president of The United Commercial Travelers (formerly ACT), Ray’s direct contributions materialized into numerous public entities, including senior’s housing projects, that continue serving his community and future generations. We are all very proud of him and grateful for his colourful touch on our lives.

ROBERTSON, John Edward (Jack) Tuesday, 25 Dec 2007

Born May 10, 1920. passed away early Christmas morning at Halliday House in Parksville.
He is predeceased by his wife, Germaine, sisters, Eileen, Mae and Susie and brother, Harley. He is survived by his children, Andree (John Laughland), Jacqueline (John Parry), Nicole (Bill Milne), Ian (Louise) and sister, Jessie Johnson. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Maureen Robertson and Jeannot Baillieul-Provo, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and relatives in Canada and France, including special family friend, Josie Henry.
John was born in North Vancouver, BC the fourth child of E.A. (Ted) and Ethel Robertson, coming to Vancouver Island in 1922. “Pop” grew up in Fanny Bay, served in World War II with The Canadian Scottish Regiment and met his future bride in France where they married on July 1, 1946.
After the war, John returned to Fanny Bay on Christmas Eve, meeting up with Germaine who had arrived six weeks previous. In 1949 they moved to Port Alberni where he found work with the Post Office before starting with MacMillan Bloedel, Alberni Pulp & Paper Division in 1951. He worked there until his retirement in 1983.
He was a proud man and a gentleman, with respect for others and a great sense of humour. His laughter, teasing and smiling blue eyes will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Sat. January 5, 2008 at Yates Funeral Service, 1000 Allsbrook, Parksville at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C., 300 – 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. V5Z 1E2 would be appreciated.

Memorial Service in Port Kells Congregational Church, 19131 88th Ave., Surrey, Fri. Apr. 13 at 11 am. Conducted by the Rev. Tom Mercer and The Rev. Dr. Stanford Lucyk. Committal of ashes in Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto.

PRATT, Phyllis Doreen of Langley B.C. passed away peacefully in Langley Memorial Hospital on April 6, 2007 at the ate of 83 years. She is predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 1999, and brother Gary. Phyllis is survived by and will be sadly missed by her three daughters; Dianne (Ed) Butler, Valerie (Glen) Pipe, Shelley Davis and guardian angel Phil Davis. Sister Elenor Middleton, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. The Interment of cremated remains will take place on Thursday April 12, 2007, at 12:00 pm, at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14660 72 Avenue, Surrey, B.C. followed by a celebration of Phyllis' life at 2:00 pm at Parkway Two, 5363 206 Street, Langley, B.C. Donations in Phyllis' memory can be made to the Heart and Lung Association or the Children's Hospital of B.C.

JOWSEY, Marion Annie (nee MacDonald) passed away peacefully April 5, 2007 at the Langley Memorial Hospital. Marion was born November 25, 1914 in the Tupper District of Saskatchewan where she married Andrew Jowsey in 1935 and where they farmed until moving to Langley in 1971. Marion and Andy enjoyed many happy years of family involvement. Their children include Jean (Roy) Harris, Winnipeg MB, Eleanor Maley, Black Diamond AB, Linda (Don) Sharpe, Calgary AB, Ellis (Debra) Jowsey, 100 Mile House, BC and Blair Jowsey, Edmonton AB. Numerous Grandchildren (15), Great Grand Children (23) and Great Great Grand Children (2) provided for many hours of enjoyment over the years.
Marion was one to get involved, both during her years on the farm and during her retirement years in Langley. She was an avid sports fan who excelled in lawn bowling, representing the local Lawn Bowling Club at the Senior Games in Victoria, and having been an active curler, seldom missed viewing and critiquing major televised curling events, including the recent "Worlds" held in Edmonton. Marion formed many lasting relationships through her numerous activities, including Bingo, Art Work, Knitting, Cards and regular participation at the Rainbow Lodge Socials. Marion formed many lasting friendships at the Senior's Resource Centre, Rainbow Lodge and Brookswood Senior Centre through her numerous activities, such as bingo, art work, knitting and cards.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care, or a charity of your choice.

Predeceased by his Dad, Alex, Mom, Ruth and brother Terry. Celebration of his life will be held at 1 pm Wednesday April 4 at Sharon United Church at 21562 Old Yale Rd., Langley. HANLON, Rosemary (nee Smith), Combermere, ON, peacefully at home, with family by her side, 78 years old. Beloved mother of Dan (Paulette) Surrey, BC; Catherine Harling, N. Vancouver, BC; Chris (Madonna House Apostolate) Combermere, ON; Mary Lee, Langley, BC; Barbara (Jim Rennie), N. Vancouver, BC; and James (Karen), Combermere, ON; 14 grandchildren: Matt, Erin, Damien, Christa, Bryan, Beth, Sean, Brandon, Katie, Jamie, Jimmy, John, Isobel, Joseph; great-grandchild Tristan. Brother Bill Smith (Marlene), sisters Beverley (Gerry Freamo), Carmel (late Douglas Bigelow), Ann (Jim Sullivan), Dolly (Grant Moyse); sisters-in-law Theresa McMillan, Theresa Small; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Peter in 1993, mother Verlie, father Dan, and brother Lee. Most important in Rosemary's was her faith in God, which gave her happiness and hope in life despite suffering from cancer in the past year. She drew particular strength from being a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. Rosemary was born in Buckingham, PQ, and moved to BC in 1950, where she married Peter and raised six children. In 1998 she returned to the east with James and Karen to live in Combermere, ON. Rosemary was active in various organizations, including the Catholic Women's League, Legion of Mary, Canadian Food for Children and Hospice care, and she supported numerous charities. She was a courageous defender of the right to life of unborn children and promoted care for women experiencing problem pregnancies. Mom loved the water: the Lievre River where she grew up, the Pacific Ocean, and living beside the Madawaska River in Combermere. She loved scenery and nature, reading, walking and her family. We will miss our dear Mother so much. In lieu of flowers, at Rosemary's request please consider donating to a Pro Life organization. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Parish, Langley, BC, on Thursday March 22, 7:30 pm; reception following.
