SAMUEL PAUL DUECK

He was delivered into this world so precious and perfect at 11:42 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008. Without a breath he left his mark on all who anticipated his arrival.

Mourning the loss of Samuel are his parents Paul and Connie, his sisters Isabel and Katherine, grandparents Dave and Agnes Dueck and Gerald and Marilyn Campbell. Also mourning are his aunts and uncles; Bruce and Melissa Dueck, Mark and Laurel Dueck, Travis and Carla Prette, Daryl and Charlotte Toews and his two cousins; Aurielle Dueck and Brooklyn Toews.

Samuel is being cuddled in heaven by his Grandma Beverly Campbell.

This is a time a parent never wants to face. We've realized how precious the gift of life is. It is not to be taken for granted or wasted. Each breath we take is planned out in heaven before we take the next. We are all called to do the work of the Father who sent us. Do not let Samuel's death be wasted, but let it remind us to move forward with grace and peace for the rest of our lives.

"The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." Job 1:21.

We would like to thank the staff at the Bethesda and St Boniface Hospitals for their diligent and compassionate care in this difficult time. We also want to thank all the people who have lifted us up in prayer.

The funeral service is to be held at the Grunthal Abundant Life Fellowship on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at the Grunthal Cemetery. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

JOHN VERESTIUK

John Verestiuk passed away peacefully at Bethesda Place, Steinbach, at age 92 with his wife Anne by his side on Saturday, April 12, 2008.

John was born Aug. 2, 1915 in Fort William, ON and moved to Sarto, MB at a very young age. His father died when he was a teenager so John worked the family farm. He married his sweetheart, Anne Osadchuk on Nov. 24, 1945. They worked together on the family farm. He also supplemented their income by working on the pipeline and for many years at C.T. Loewen's.

He will always be remembered for his hospitality, friendliness, hard work and honesty. When he retired at age 65 he had opportunity to spend more time with his family, cutting wood, gardening and helping his son with the cattle. He loved his grandchildren dearly. Every Father's Day we would be out in front of the barn playing baseball. He gave the grandchildren tractor trailer rides around the section and helped them build tepees.

In January 2005 when it became difficult on the farm, John and Anne moved to Steinbach. On Sept. 29, 2006 he moved to St Adolphe Nursing Home where he received excellent care. They enjoyed him and his sense of humour very much. He moved to Bethesda Place in Steinbach on Nov. 23, 2007. We as family are very thankful for the excellent care and compassion he received. When he felt anxious he would find immediate peace when someone would pray for him or sing Jesus loves Me to him.

John was predeceased by his parents Nastia and Harry Verestiuk, two brothers Peter (Ann) and brother Steve.

He is survived by his wife Anne, one daughter Jeanette (Steve) Ruta of Cooks Creek, two sons, Allan (Lori) of Fort McCloud, AB and son Randy (Valerie) of Mitchell; seven grandchildren Natasha, Twighla, Kimberly, Jason, Kevin, Tammy, Jennifer and families; four great grandchildren and two more on the way. He is also survived by sister-in-law Olga in Ontario, nieces and nephews.

"Sweetheart, Dad, Gido, we will miss you so much."
