MARIA TOEWS

Maria Toews, 93 of Grunthal passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB.

She is survived by two daughter, four sons and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband Henry S. Toews, one grand-daughter, one great grandson and one son-in-law.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Monday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grunthal CMC Church with interment at the Grunthal Cemetery.

SADIE WARKENTIN

It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sadie Warkentin. She was born on June 23, 1922 and passed on to her Heavenly home on July 13, 2012 at the age of 90.

In 1925, Sadie and her parents emigrated from Russia to Canada. They eventually settled in Manitoba where she later met Art Warkentin. They were married on August 3, 1941.

Sadie was predeceased by her husband Art on June 13, 1983, granddaughter Angela on December 18, 1977, her sister Anne on September 14, 2011, two brothers-in-law (Alan Penner and Glen Murphy), her parents and 5 siblings in infancy.

She will be lovingly and forever remembered by her children Shirley (Henry), Phyllis, Margaret (John), Joan (Ike) and Mike (Pat), 13 grandchildren and their spouses and families, 14 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and her sisters Mary Penner and Laura Murphy and their families.

The funeral service was held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, July 18 at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Memorial Cemetery.

JOHN HIRSCHFIELD

Peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2012 John Hirschfield of Steinbach formerly of Sundown and Sprague passed away at the Vita Personal Care Home at the age of 86 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen (nee Chubey), son Peter (Molly), grandchild Michael and one sister-in-law Elizabeth Hirschfield.

The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing prior to the service. Interment at the Orthodox Cemetery in Sundown.

DON BARTEL

Don Bartel, 77, of Steinbach, MB passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 at the St. Boniface Hospital, in Winnipeg.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, one daughter, three sons and their families as well as by one sister and one brother. He was predeceased by two brothers.

Open House and viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Thursday, July 19 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 20 at 3:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 McKenzie Ave, Steinbach. A private burial will take place at the Clearspring Cemetery prior to the service.

NATALYA FRIESEN
October 27, 1969 - July 17, 2012

Natalya Friesen, beloved wife of Edward of Chestermere, Alberta, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the age of 42 years.

She will be forever cherished by her husband, Edward; daughters: Daryna, Jacqueline and Terra; parents, Aleftina Pashkova and Evgeny Pashkov as well as by numerous extended family and friends.

Memorial Donations in Natalya's name may be made directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Center (1331-29 Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 4N2).

MYRTLE GIESBRECHT (nee Aarhus)

On July 17, 2012, a bright sunny day, mom went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 93.

Mom was the eldest of five children born to homesteaders Kinute and Marie Aarhus near Woodridge, Manitoba.

Mom was predeceased by her husband John in 1996, son Lloyd in 1997, and brothers Alvin and Ewald. She is survived by her three children Dorothy (Dennis), Arne (Sonia), Margaret (friend Ralph), as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Viewing on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 7-8 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held Saturday July 21, 2012 at 11:00 am, also at Friends Funeral Service. Interment to follow in the Norwegian Cemetery in Menisino, Manitoba.

Myrtle Elizabeth May Ridley (nee Stacey) It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother/grandmother on July 20, 2012 at Seven Oaks Hospital at 86 years of age.

Born June 8, 1926 in Mowbra, MB. She was predeceased by, her parents Ernest and Bella Stacey, brother Allan and son-in-law Melvin Downey. She is survived by her husband Skip, son Brian (Lois), grandson Cameron, daughter Arlene Downey, granddaughter Megan.

A private interment was held July 30, 2012 at Thomson “In the Park” Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd.

DOLORES MARJIE WIEBE
November 12, 1949-July 21, 2012

It is with a mixture of sadness and happiness that the children of Dolores announce her passing. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Dolores passed away peacefully on July 21 at Bethesda Personal Care Home in Steinbach surrounded by her loved ones.

Dolores’ memory will live on in the hearts of her children Chad (Tina), Charlotte (Tony), Sean, Ian and Beth-Ann (Stefan) and her former husband and friend Ronald McKenzie. She also leaves behind her sister Diana, brothers Larry (Rita), Roy and Rocky (Kathy), plus many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She follows her parents Peter and Margaret Wiebe, her step-mother Mae and her first husband Clifford Clark.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Heritage Cemetery to follow reception. Viewing will be prior to the service.

JANICE HOLLAND

At Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, at the age of 54, Janice Holland (nee Dueck) stepped into the presence of her Lord on July 21, 2012. There to welcome her were her parents David and Katherine Dueck, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and a host of loving friends. Left behind to mourn her earthly loss are her husband Mel Holland, her children Collin and Candace (Kwame), her chosen children Ivan Stahl, Harold and Mary Miller with her chosen grandchildren, Brianna, Daryl, and Andrea. Her nine brothers and sisters with their families and many, many friends will also feel the loss.

The viewing will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with funeral services Friday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Kleefeld Evangelical Mennonite Church in Kleefeld. Interment to follow at the church cemetery with a light lunch to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations of offset the funeral expenses.

LÉO FRÉCHETTE
June 5, 1942 – July 21, 2012

Peacefully, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer, at the age of 70, Léo Fréchette passed away on July 21, 2012 at Ste. Anne hospital surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Jeannette (Kirouac), son Richard (Nicole), Albert (Pam), Lilliane (Michael Buxton-Carr), foster son Brian and five grandchildren Julie, Gilbert, Sébastien, Stefan and Gabrielle. He also leaves to mourn his siblings: Evelyne, Jeanne (Reg Sproule), Jeannettte (Noël Delaurier), Thérèse (Kurt Schroeder), David (Carole), Ernest (Lynne) and his wife’s family Lucille (Émile Dupuis), Lorraine, Louise (Richard Maynard), Roland (Angèle), Marcel (Marie-Jeanne), Gilbert (Lisa), Guy (Sherrie-Lee) and many nieces and nephews and numerous friends .

Private viewing for immediate and extended family ONLY will be held at the St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church in La Broquerie, on Thursday, July 26 at 7:30 pm and the mass of resurrection will be held at the St. Joachim Roman Catholic church in La Broquerie at 10:30 am on Friday, July 27. The mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Albert LeGatt with internment to follow in the St. Joachim Cemetery. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Ste. Anne Hospital and Sr. Irène Rioux for their care, and compassion in the last six months.

MARK RUSSELL HAWRYLUIK
December 10, 1923
Caliento, Manitoba

Mark Hawryluik passed away, July 21, 2012 at Trilogy Long Term Care, Scarborough ON, where he received most compassionate care during a lengthy illness.

Predeceased by brother Mike and sisters Maggie, Anne, Jennie and Mary. Remembered fondly as "Uncle Mark" by many nieces and nephews.

As per his arrangements, a private graveside blessing was held at Elgin Mills Cemetery in Richmond Hill on July 25, 2012. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Christian Children's Fund of Canada, 1200 Denison St. Markham, ON L3R 8G6 or a charity of choice.

Remembered, but not forgotten.

JEAN KEHLER

Peacefully after many years of illnesses Jean Kehler passed away at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach on July 22, 2012 with her family at her bedside at the age of 84.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Erdmund Kehler in 2003, her infant son Martin shortly after birth, her parents John and Ann Wiens and her youngest sister Margarita Laurel Violet.

Jean is survived by her brother Cecil Wiebe (Rose) from Burnaby, BC, daughter Angelinda Ens, son Albert Kehler (Elfreide), grandchildren Michael Dueck (Laura), Corey Dueck (Candice) and Holly Reimer, great grandchildren Michelle, Amy, Kaylee, Coltin, Brittney, Isabella, Alexandra, Chloe, Noah and Dusten.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell CMC. Burial to follow at the church cemetery followed by a light lunch at the church.

Peacefully on July 22, 2012 Mary Friesen (nee Janzen) passed away at Rest Haven Home in Steinbach with members of her family at her side.

She is survived by four sons and five daughters; Norman (Martha), Ruth (Bob), Ernie (Vi), Irene (Bernie), Ron (Dolores), Linda (George), Harv (Tracy), Irma (Jim), and Shirley; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Martin in 2001, daughter Erna in 1947, son Richard Allen in 1967, as well as two sons-in-law, two grandsons, and one great-grandson.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 25 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with interment at Heritage Cemetery.

PATRICIA ANN PERSOWICH
(March 12, 1948 - July 22, 2012)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia on July 22, 2012, at the Grace Hospice with her children and family by her side. Patricia will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her three sons: Mark (Robin) Shmigelsky and grandsons Ryder and Kyler of Invermere, B.C.; Matthew Shmigelsky of Salisbury, England; Michealo Shmigelsky of Phuket, Thailand; and granddaughter Meisha Pearson of Big Lake, MN. She also leaves her siblings, Christina (Alex) Anonychuk, Judy Johnston, John (Joyce) Persowich; Jacqueline (Bob) Lewandiwsky; Gary (Bonnie) Persowich; Irene (Jan) Collins; Edward Persowich and foster brother Stanley (Billie) Dorie and the many nieces and nephews who have been supportive over the years to their Aunt Patricia. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, John and Marion Persowich; brother-in-law James Johnston and sister-in-law Wendy Persowich.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 28th, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB.
