Guy Durand
Peacefully, after a long illness, Guy Durand passed away at the Notre Dame Foyer on October 18, 2007 at the age of 80.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 48 years, Thérèse (née Davy), three daughters, Lynne (Bob), Christiane (Brian), Jocelyne (Doug) and one son Réal. Also missing him are his grandchildren Bobbie (Jamie), Bradley, Jennifer, Amanda, Michelle, Joshua, Chase, Stephan, Kaitlyn, Marci, Candace and Justin. He also leaves to mourn three brothers, Denis (Diane), Henry (Angeline), André (Jeannette), three sisters, Marie-Joseph (Denis), Rolande (Abe) Wiebe and Ange-Aimée (Gerry), and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by one special sister France Durand at the age of 12 years.
“Papa” as he was so affectionately known to his family, was born in Notre Dame and was raised in the Treherne area until he moved back to Notre Dame to work for J.B. Deroche. He then purchased Notre Dame Transfer which he worked at from 1955 to 1968. In 1968 he sold the transfer and bought his farm and stayed there until his retirement in 1986 when he moved back to Notre Dame.
His love for his wife and family was second to none. He always wanted people around. He enjoyed his work, his friends, hunting, his New Years Day visits, and playing cards “oh yes” playing cards, 500, La Dame de Pique.
We miss his April Fools jokes, his visits, his sense of humor, his love of life and family.
Dad, we will miss you but we will not miss the look of pain in your face. It’s all over now. “Grand-maman du ciel” is now looking after you, have a glass of wine with Pépère and don’t worry about us. We will be just fine and we will look after Mama.
With respect for his wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. with Father Léon Mubikayi and Deacon Luc Girouard officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Notre Dame Health Foundation or to a charity of choice.

Léa Bosc (nee Vandel)
Peacefully at the Notre Dame Hospital on Thursday, October 18, 2007, Mrs. Léa Bosc of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba passed away at the age of 100 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing four sons: Norbert (Marie) of Notre Dame, Armand (Annette) of Notre Dame, Laurent (Georgette) of Rathwell and Léo (Corrine) of Edmonton; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister-in-law Marcelle Moniot and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1978; one son François in 1933; her mother Joséphine Bégou in 1982 and father Félix Vandel in 1917; one granddaughter Josée in 1980; and by three brothers and three sisters.
Prayers will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Léon Mubikayi officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Notre Dame Health Foundation, Notre Dame Palliative Care or to a charity of choice.

Cecilia Carter (nee Chartrand)
Peacefully at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Monday, October 15, 2007, Mrs. Cecilia Carter of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away at the age of 83 years.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 58 years, Robert Carter and six children: Brian (Ingrid) of Yellowknife, Marlene (Larry), Norman (Roseline), Donna (Bruce) all of Winnipeg, Jo-Ann (Claude) of St. Albert, Alta and Terry (Desmond) of Winnipeg; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Rose Chartrand and by nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc Street in Winnipeg, on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Roy officiating. Cremation to follow.

Madeleine Burley (nee Capon)
Peacefully at the Grace General Hospital on Sunday, October 14, 2007, Mrs. Madeleine Burley of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away at the age of 94 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing two children: Ray Burley of Winnipeg and Rosalie (Wilbert) Sumner of Thompson; six grandchildren: Tara (Daryl), Michael (Lisa), Shaen (Karen), Kelley, Shannon (Scott) and Pat; five great-grandchildren: Bradley, Casie, Steven, Christopher and Lotey. She also leaves to mourn one sister Lorraine Major; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Dosithé Burley in 1978 and by 10 brothers and sisters.
With respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Church in Elie, Manitoba on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Father Mike Nwosu officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Yolande Rheault (nee Dupuis)
With great sadness we announce the passing of Yolande Rheault on October 4, 2007 at the St. Boniface Hospital.
After a long courageous battle with cancer, she leaves behind her husband Germain of 39 years; two daughters: Joelle Rheault-Baron (Steve) and Jacinte Lambert (Gerald); four grandchildren: Brandyn, Daniel, Gabrielle and Isabelle. She will also be sadly missed by all family and friends.
Yolande’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Boniface Cathedral on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the Somerset Parish Cemetery.

Thomas Benny
Peacefully and surrounded by family, at the Purdy Pavilion, UBC, on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at age 85.
Tom was predeceased by his father, Harry; his mother, Mary; and by his brother Edward. He will be lovingly remembered by his family from Manitoba, by his many friends, and especially Joan, who was always there for him. Tom had a wide array of interests and always enjoyed helping others.
Special thanks to his companion, Denis and the staff at Purdy Pavilion for their kind and compassionate care, especially during his last week.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel in Purdy Pavilion, at UBC, 2211 Wesbrook Mall.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Ronald Joseph Nestor Pantel
Peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, Mr. Ronald Pantel of St. Boniface, Manitoba passed away at the age of 43 years.
He leaves to mourn his parents Donald Pantel and Shirley (nee Lombaert) of Morden; one sister Sheila of Winnipeg and her children: Amy (Clayton) Wood, Darren Fifi and Kendra Fifi; one brother-in-law Ray Fifi; a special friend Therese Fillion; and numerous uncles and aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Father Isaie Blanchette officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Joan M. Ashton (nee Hills)
Peacefully at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Friday, September 21, 2007, Mrs. Joan Ashton formerly of Treherne, Manitoba passed away at the age of 82 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing four children: Gordon B. (Karen) Jones, Grace Lamothe, Peter (Karin) Jones, Maggie White; nine grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends from England and Canada. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Linda Lee, her husband Gordon E. Jones and by her second husband Neil Ashton.
Cremation has taken place according to Joan’s wish. Funeral Services will be held at the Deer Lodge Worship Centre on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at 7 p.m. at the Bethel Cemetery in Treherne, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
