Kimberley Elaine Mellings (née Gagnon)
Passed away peacefully with her family by her side following a long battle with kidney disease. Born in Winnipeg Manitoba on November 29, 1958. Predeceased by her parents Art and Dot Gagnon as well as step mother Isabel Gagnon. Kim is lovingly remembered by her family; children; Rick (Joy) Mellings, Connie (Dave) Burton, Bob (Jeanette) Mellings, daughter in law Angela Larose grandchildren; Brenden, Tianna and Christopher; and her sister Karen (Dean) Hankins; niece Nicole and nephew Chad. The family wishes to thank Drs. Antonson and Saunders as well as the dialysis units and nurses in Cowichan District Hospital and the Royal Jubilee Hospital for all their care and compassion over the years they helped mom. An open house will be held at the home of Rick Mellings 6239 Fairview Way, Duncan BC on Sunday January 11, 2009 from 12 to 4 p.m.. Flowers gratefully declined. Alice (Char) Charlene Flett
Alice Charlene (Char) Flett of the Peguis First Nation, left peacefully to be with the Lord on September 24, 2007 at the Health Sciences Centre, after a lengthy illness at the age of 44 years.
Char leaves to mourn, her companion of 25 years, Marvin Madison; her daughters, Melanie (Melvin) and Vanessa (Clayton); her son Kyle; her grandchildren, Kaila, Shaelin, Tyrell, Shayna and Kierra; god children, Ian Flett, Chloe Cameron, Kierra Genaille and Dylan Stevenson; her mother Jean Flett; sisters, Karen (Lawrence), Rosemarie (Gilbert) and Mona (Dave); brothers, Arnold (Pam), Donald (Wilma), Bradley and William (Debbie); special friend Norman Spence of Fisher River; also friends and relatives of Peguis.
Char was predeceased by her father, Dempsey Flett and by her brother, Randy.
Char was born and raised in Peguis. She attended Residential School in Dauphin, Manitoba and then returned back to Peguis and had a family. She was a friend to everyone. Char was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. She enjoyed playing Bingo and having a few packs at the VLT’s. She also liked hanging out with her nieces, nephews and friends playing card games. Char will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Wake services will be held on Thursday, September 27th, 2007 and on Friday, September 28th, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Burnell Stevenson and Jim Anderson officiating. All services will be held at Jean Flett’s residence in Peguis, Manitoba. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Percy E. Moore Hospital, Health Sciences Centre and Ashern Dialysis Unit, Peguis Chief and Council, as well as family and friends for all your love and support.

With sorrow in our hearts, we announce the passing of Michelle “Our Everything” on September 28, 2007. By her side were her husband, Kurt, her sister Sam, and brother-in-law, Neil and her life long friend Dana.
Michelle was predeceased by her mom, Yvonne and father, Bill.
She will be sadly missed by numerous family members and friends.
Michelle made a lasting impression on everyone she knew with her beauty, style and zest to live life to the fullest.
Cremation has taken place. A service celebrating Michelle’s life will be held on Thursday, October 4th, 2007, at 1:00 p.m., at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street.
Special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors on the 7th floor and the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface General Hospital for their care and compassion.

Dennis Keith Sutton
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband and father.
Dennis was born on July 29th, 1947 to the late Frederick and Alice Sutton of Transcona. He was also predeceased by his brothers Glenn and Thomas and his brother-in-law Vernon.
Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Cindy of 23 years, his dear daughters, Jillian, Callin and Stephanie. He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Amy, Valerie, Linda (Lloyd), Janis (Marc), Nancy (Steve) Barbara (Dave) and Susan (Dave); brother, Fred; brother-in-law Ivan (Ilene) Youchezin; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Dennis was a hard worker, always up early in the morning and always busy building or fixing things. He enjoyed playing hockey with his friends and was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens. Dennis loved the outdoors; especially golfing, camping and fishing. He was on his way to go fishing with his wife and friends at his untimely passing.
Dennis worked in the printing trade for many years, first with Public Press, then Unisource Canada Inc. as Regional Merchandising Manager of Printing and Imaging.
Viewing will be held Thursday, October 4th, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 5th, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. in the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West. Reverend Jeff Cook officiating.
Cindy and the girls would like to thank friends Pat, Cindy and sister, Valerie for their care, concern and support at this trying time.

It is with our deep sorrow and great sense of loss that we announce the passing of our loving mother Mary Okemow at 3:05 a.m. on October 4, 2007 at the Health Science Centre with her family and friends at her side whom she so dearly loved.
She will be fondly cherished and remembered by her children, Elizabeth, Luba (Peter), Ellis (Alice), Eileen, Buddy Suzie (Joe Guy), Jack and Robert (Tracy); sisters, Doris (Louis); Rita, Amy, Victoria (Harold), Flora; Brothers, Leo, William, Mark (Abbie), grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all the friends she made at 415 River avenue, Boarding Home, where she made her home for the past three years.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Andrew Okemow; son Mathias; daughter Josie, Mom Irene Harper, Edward Osborne; brothers Robert Osborne, James Osborne,; sister Viola Osborne; grandson Henry Okemow and Buddy Okemow Jr. Special thanks to the staff at Health Science Centre DR, MICU, H4, H6 and Aboriginal Health Services who gave Mom the care and comfort she needed.

Jamie Danielle Pruden
Tragically on October 6, 2007 on the Little Saskatchewan First Nation, our daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and beloved friend, Jamie Danielle Pruden passed away at the age of 13 years.
Jamie will be deeply missed by her dad Richard (Angie); mom Valerie; brothers, Anthony and Braxton; sisters, Courtney, Brianna and Havanna; grandparents, Robert and Marie McKay and Marshall and Barbara Woodhouse; aunts, Deedra (Henry), Janine (Clint), Mary Rose (Sorrell), Angela (Gary) and Salena (Darren); uncles, Kevin (Crystal), Darren (Paulette), Lester (Colleen), Mickey and Justin (Bertha); as well as numerous cousins and friends.
Jamie was predeceased by her great-great-grandparents, Phillip and Christina Pruden; great-grandmother Eva Pruden; great-great-grandfather John James Sinclair; great-grandparents Martha and William McKay; cousin Timothy Pruden.
Jamie enjoyed pulling pranks and making people laugh, she was a practical joker who always had a smile to brighten your day. She was helpful and hardworking and liked to take care of her little sisters. Jamie’s dream and ambition was to be a police officer one day. She had many friends and made friends easily. There was never a dull moment, whenever she was around.
Wake services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2007 and on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. each evening. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. All services will be held at the Little Saskatchewan Pentecostal Church, with Pastor Gerald Anderson and Jim Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Little Saskatchewan Cemetery.
Thank you to all those who dropped off meals and came by to support the family. Special thanks to sister Deedra, Isaac Sinclair and Constable Kelly for their efforts to help Jamie. As well to those who were at the scene of the accident and brought blankets to keep her warm. Gypsumville Ambulance, Doctors and nurses of the Lakeshore General Hospital, Rose Shorting and Chief & Council of Little Saskatchewan First Nation for all their support, as well as all those who will be making meals during the services.

Jessie Traverse
With family, friends, beloved sister Clara, her nieces Doreen, Terri, Ruby, Colleen, Beatrice and her husband Edgar by her side, Jessie Traverse (nee Woodhouse) of Lake St. Martin, Manitoba, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 5, 2007. Jessie passed away at the age of 83 years old.
A wake service was held on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 7:00. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 1:00. Both services will be held at the Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, Manitoba, with Pastor Wilfred Bruce and Jim Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at St. Helen’s Anglican Cemetery. Luncheon after the service will be held at the church hall in Fairford.
Special thanks to Dr. Pillay and the nurses at Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon, who took wonderful care of our mother. A big thank you to Unice, Fern and Bernice for the flowers that were made.

Sadly we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, step-father and grandfather on October 8th 2007, at the age of 59. He is survived by his loving wife Elaine; daughters Christy (Robert), and Heather; brother Robert (Cecile), and sisters Joan (Lou), and Shirley (Barry); step-daughters Deborah (Ken), Marlene, and Patti (Brent); grandchildren Kara, Sarah, and Joshua; and all his nieces and nephews.
Don enjoyed woodworking, camping, canoeing and kayaking. He loved spending time outdoors and taking photographs of his favourite nature scenes. He also enjoyed taking his motorcycle for a long ride on a summer evening. Don was well known for his good ‘bad’ jokes and his unique sense of humour.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their loving care of Don during his brief illness, and their compassion for the family.
The funeral service will be held Thursday October 18th at 2:00 pm, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 445 Lagimodiere Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba.
