DONNA ROMANYE HUDSON
With great courage and dignity, Donna Romanye Hudson (Dalrymple) passed away on April 12, 1998 at the Riverview Health Care Centre.
Donna was born on August 19, 1942 at Deloraine, MB. She was the second eldest daughter of James and Margaret Dalrymple. She attended school at Horton and Boissevain. On October 27, 1962 she married Donald Hudson. Together they had three children, Kathy, Kim and Kurtis. Donna worked as a waitress in Boissevain and Pierson. In 1982 she started working at the Edward Co-op where she continued to work until the time of her illness. She was a dedicated and respected store manager for several years.
Donna will be remembered as a very special person. She was a wonderful wife, mom, mother-in-law and relative. She had a generous personality, always willing to do anything for anyone. She had a way of touching every person she came into contact with.
The family so wanted her to be there to share their future but, when it was clear that this was not to be, they were grateful to have time to thank her for all the things she had done for them and to tell her how much she meant to them. Donna devoted her strong character and determination throughout her entire life. The family is saddened that the grandchildren will not have the pleasure and privilege of continuing to have Grandma in their life. This role that Donna loved so much was cut too short.
Left to cherish Donna's memory are her loving husband and best friend for 35 wonderful years Don; daughters Kathy (Maurice) Mangin, Kim Hudson-Witzke and Scott Witzke and son Kurtis Hudson; sisters and brothers and in-laws Louise Hardcastle, Shirley (Bob) Gardner, Dorothy Coupland, Howard (Donna) Dalrymple, Miles (Carole) Dalrymple, Murray Glen (Myrtle) Dalrymple, Rob (Andy) Dalrymple and chosen sister and brother-in-law Dori and Bill Rankin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lorainne and Bernie Boisjoli, Shirley and Larry Cinq-Mars; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Donna was predeceased by her parents James and Margaret Dalrymple, brother Lloyd Dalrymple, brothers-in-law Mervin Coupland, Art Hardcastle and nephew Darren McKee.
A celebration of life took place on Thursday, April 16, 1998 at St. Paul's United Church, Boissevain, MB at 2:00 p.m. with interment in the Boissevain Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Coupland, Douglas Coupland, Michael Dalrymple, Darcy Groves, Eddie Ludgate and Wesley McKee.
Flowers were gratefully declined. As a family we were fortunate to have our wish come true. A family trip with Mom in which we all went to Disney World for a week. It was her desire that other families can have their wish come true also. Donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada - Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. R2C 3J2.

SYLVIA SPROTT
Sylvia Sprott passed away peacefully at Central Park Lodge on January 18, 1999 at the age of 77 years.
Sylvia Kathleen Camp was born in Deloraine on December 9, 1921, the youngest of five born to Margaret and Philip Camp. As her father was a railroad man, the Camps moved frequently and Sylvia attended many schools. She graduated from Grade XII at Boissevain and was then employed by the local dentist and at MTS.
In 1943 Sylvia met the man who was to become her life, Alfred Sprott. Mom and Dad had a whirlwind romance - 6 weeks she would often tell us. Their chance meeting on a train led to a very solid marriage. They lived in St. Thomas during the war years and, after Alfred's discharge, lived on the farm at Croll. In 1951 they moved to their new home on NE 11-5-20. It was here their 4 children were raised. Mom and Dad farmed there until Dad's death in 1977. During this time she sat on several committees and boards, the most rewarding for her being the rink committee and school board. In 1983 she moved to Boissevain and for several years was employed by MTS.
Mom loved to sew and knit and was always doing things for her family "just because". Her family was everything to her. As the family expanded to include sons and daughter-in-law, and ultimately 13 grandchildren, each was welcomed unconditionally and with love. It was often noted in her journal after a family gathering "this was a good day."
In 1991, Mom retired from the MTS and was looking forward to devoting more time to researching the family tree. Unfortunately this was not to be as in 1994 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Routine tasks that were once so easy became so difficult. She moved to Westview Lodge in 1994 and Central Park Lodge in 1998.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Alfred, their son Owen, brothers Leonard and Phil and sisters Grace and Marj. She is survived by daughters Margaret (Brian) Hammond and Mary (Ronald) Kalberg, son Tom (Janice) and daughter-in-law Norma. She will be missed by her 13 grandchildren: Lori, Cathy and Susan Sprott, Brad, Bob and Andy Hammond, Kathleen, Sharon and Elaine Kalberg and Lee, Sean, Ian and Kerri Sprott, and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom had a special place in her heart.
A service celebrating her life was held on January 22, 1999 in the Minto United Church, Interment was in Minto Cemetery.
Should friends so desire, donations may be made to Central Park Lodge or a charity of their choice.
