Adam Friesen

1982 - 2003

The family is saddened to announce that Adam passed away at home after a lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 5 at the age of 21.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents Jake and Susan, his siblings Melody (Bill), Lindsay (Ernie), and Drew; his girlfriend Kerri, her parents (Don and Beth) and brother Michael; grandparents Ernie Breen (Marie), Cornie and Tina Friesen as well as nieces, nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Adam was predeceased by his grandmother Shirley Breen.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB on Friday, November 7, 7 – 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover St., Steinbach, MB on Saturday, November 8 at 1 p.m. Interment at Grunthal Cemetery.

Daniel (Danny) Maurice Mourant

1950 - 2003

Suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the Ste. Anne Hospital, Daniel Maurice Mourant passed away at the age of 53 years.

Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his wife Liza, his mother Simone, his brother Richard (Arlene), his nephew Derek, niece Colleen, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Achille (Archie). Daniel was born September 20, 1950 in St. Boniface, MB. He lived in Dufresne, MB on the farm and attended school in Ste. Anne. Some of his hobbies included riding his bicycle, raising rabbits and drawing. He enjoyed keeping track of all his cousins’ birthdays and events within the family and always could tell you the exact date. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had many friends and touched everyone’s heart. Later in life he moved to Ste. Anne and found the love of his life and married Liza on October 26, 1996. He was a fun-loving man, who loved to dance with his wife. His faith in our Lord shone through all he did.

He worked with the Blue Sky Recycling at Dawson Trail Opportunities Unlimited Inc. of Ste. Anne, MB where he made many friends who will miss him very much.

Special thanks to Dr. Paul DeMoissac for his compassion, respect, dignity and genuine love for Danny, also to his nurses and aides Joanne S., Joane C, Linda D., Gisele, Joses, Louise and Elaine.

Prayers will be held Sunday, November 9, 2003, 7 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 10, 11 a.m. at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church with Father Rene Chartier officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.

Susie Stoesz

1931 – 2003

Susie Stoesz passed away on Thursday, November 6, 220 at her residence in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 72.

She is survived by her husband Ed, three daughters, three sons and their families; four sisters, two brothers and their families.

Viewing will be held at Morrow Gospel Church, Winnipeg, on Sunday, November 9, 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a devotional at 9:00 p.m. The memorial service for Susie will be held at Morrow Gospel Church on Monday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. at Bergfeld Mennonite Church (near Altona).

Alexander McNeill

May 19, 1908 – November 13, 2003

In loving memory of Alexander McNeill, our beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away at the age of 95 years. Alec was predeceased by his wife Annie, his sister Janet, and his brothers Duncan and Donald. Alec is also survived by his sisters Jean and Catherine, his sister-in-law Edna, children Evangeline (Lyle), Daniel (Beverly), Elaine (John), Charles, Ruth and Robert (Leslie), his grandchildren Theodore, Timothy, Terrence, Kent, Karla, Simon Alexander, Gregory, Karen , Ashley, Jessica, Sydney, his great grandchildren Ashley Lynn, Kevin, Mitchell, Kahlan, Connor, Gavin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born on May 19, 1908 at Souris, Manitoba of Scottish parents, Alec was the eldest of the six children of George and Keith McNeill. Alec met his beloved wife Annie Hiebert at Rock Lake Camp, Manitoba in the summer of 1930. They were married August 25, 1934. In 1927 Alec received his teaching certificate and began teaching at Ridgewood, Manitoba in a one-room schoolhouse with 24 pupils, grades one to eight. Alec also taught at other schools in rural Manitoba including schools at Whitemouth, Purves, Norris Lake, Grandview, Greenland, Giroux and Randolph. In 1958 Alec and his family moved to Winnipeg where he was employed by the Winnipeg School Board teaching special needs children until 1973 when he retired. After his retirement as a teacher, he worked for several years as an adjuster with the Manitoba Flood Assistance Board and Manitoba Crop Insurance.

Throughout his life, Alex was a devoted Christian and led an exemplary Christian life. He was “Ranger Mac” to the boys in Brigade #590, a counselor to the junior and senior boys at Red Rock Camp, and a Sunday School teacher for many years. Alec was a loving and devoted husband and father. Alec loved his family, and each child, grandchild and great grandchild held a special place in his heart and prayers. He was always there to listen and understand, to guide, encourage and help. He was a gentle and kind man. Alec’s love of life, strong determination, optimism and pride in his Scottish heritage had a great impact on those who knew him. He will be dearly missed and remembered with great love.

Of days when you were here.
We hold you close with our hearts,
And there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again.
We love you Dad.”

The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the staff at Bethesda and Bethania Personal Care Homes and to Dr. Wilfred Kaethler.

A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Temple (Buntaine Chapel), Winnipeg on Monday, November 17, 2003 at 7 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Tuesday, November 18 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Logan officiating. Interment will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery.

JOHN M. FRIESEN

John M. Friesen of Grunthal, Manitoba passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta on November 17, 2003 at the age 69 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Eva, two sons, two daughters and their families.

Viewing will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 21, from 7- 8: p.m. with a devotional at 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with interment in Grunthal Cemetery.

Anne-Marie Parent (Née Rougeau)

November 27, 1940 – November 15, 2003

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandma, Mémère, Nana and Aunt on Saturday, November 15th, 2003, at the age of 62.

She will always be remembered by daughters: Freda (Alexandre), Colette, Linda (Brad) and Monique (Greg) and her sons: Norman (Wynona), Gilbert, Robert and Rheal (Wanda); 18 grandchildren, one great grandchild, many nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, one grandchild, her two brothers and one sister-in-law.

A special thanks to Dr. C. Krahn and the nursing staff at the Bethesda Hospital as well as her nurse and home care workers for the care they provided to her during her illness. We would also like to send a special thanks to her watchful angels at the Chalet in La Broquerie.

In accordance with mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The service will be held at St. Joachim Catholic Church, La Broquerie, MB on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. Ash interment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association; 629 McDermot Avenue; Wpg., MB R3A 1P6

Harry Rudy

January 8, 1921 - November 20, 2003

Suddenly at his daughter’s home in Winnipeg, on Thursday, November 20, 2003, our beloved father and Gigi passed away at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his wife Nellie on April 28, 2003.

Dad was born in Vita, MB. He married Nellie Serman October 22, 1944 and together they raised their three children on their farm in Zhoda. Dad loved planting and growing things and reaping their rewards. He could often be found in his workshop working on one of his many projects.

In recent years Dad and Mom moved to Steinbach to spend their senior years.

Dad will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by daughter Patricia Serman of Winnipeg, two sons Russell (Dorothy) of Steinbach and Larry (Pam) of Marchand; his grandchildren Jackie, Candace, Dana, Kris, Jamin and Jordan; step grandchildren Bradley and Eric, one step great grandson Zachery, one brother Tony Rudy of Winnipeg, many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB on Monday, November 24, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

Johan (John) Ginter

Aug. 13, 1928 - Nov. 28, 2003

Suddenly at Bethesda hospital in Steinbach on Friday, November 28, 2003 Johan Ginter passed away. He was born in the Rosengard area to Deidrich & Marie (Siemens) Ginter.

Johan leaves to mourn his passing his wife Rosa (Penner) of forty-four years, four daughters and three sons; Sharon & David Doerksen, Gerald Ginter, Sheila & Bryan Jelfs, Norman & Liana Ginter, Gladwin & Starla Ginter, Bernice Ginter & Juliana Thiessen (friend Ken Hope); sixteen grand children and two great grand children. He is survived by five brothers and three sisters.

Johan enjoyed making wood toys, truck driving and being a scrap dealer for twenty-eight years. He was employed at Penner’s Transfer for 10 years.

Johan was predeceased by his parents, a sister, two brothers, a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB. Interment took place at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church Cemetery.

Andrew P. Plett

1927 – 2003

Friday, November 28, 2003 at Bethesda Hospital, Andrew P. Plett of Blumenort passed away to be with his Lord at the age of 76 years.

Andrew is survived by Minna, his loving wife of 55 years less two weeks, sons Allan (Susie), Vernon (Thelma), Dennis (Rose), daughters Elsie (Peter) Enns, Florence (Earl) Penner, Doris (Wilbert) Petkau, Marlene Petkau, Kathy (Ed) Kornelsen and one son-in-law Harold Wolfe; 27 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four brothers, seven sisters, five brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law and their families.

Andrew was predeceased by his parents Henry and Elizabeth Plett, sisters Naomi, Ruth and Mary, brothers Willy and Levi, daughter Naomi, and great-grandson Malachi.

Andrew was born January 28, 1927 in the R.M. of Hanover. In 1959 Andrew was ordained as a minister and has served the Lord faithfully in different ministries, pastoring churches in Mexico and Texas. His work in Mexico also included part time mission work, serving as treasurer for EMC Missions, and preparing weekly radio broadcasts. While in Seminole Texas, Andrew worked among the Low-German speaking immigrants and started a church that continues to be a light in the community. This lasted for 15 years, until he and his wife moved back to Steinbach to retire from vocational ministry.

The funeral service for Andrew P. Plett was held Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at the Blumenort EMC with Pastor Barry Plett officiating. Interment followed at the Blumenort Cemetery. Viewing was held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 2.
