Leslie Forzley
On Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Leslie Forzley, a long time resident of Rossendale district passed away at the age of 87 years.
Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 1:30 P.M.
Interment will follow the luncheon in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery.
Leslie was born on March 18, 1918 at Rossendale, MB, son of Simon and Bessie Forzley where he was raised and received his education.
He then continued to reside on the family farm where he assisted with the farming operation.
After his parents passed away he and his brothers, Charlie and Phillip took over the farm.
He farmed until his retirement and continued to help out on the farm until ill health forced him to become a resident of the Lions Prairie Manor where he resided for the past two years.
In Leslie’s earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He also was an avid baseball player and was well known for his pitching skills.
His main interests centered agriculture and the family farm.
Predeceased by his parents, four brothers; Charlie in 1973, Joseph in 1983, Abraham in1985, Phillip in 1995, one sister; Betty Forzley in 1993 and two nephew; Richard in 1979 and Derrick in 1994.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters-in-law; Marjorie of Winnipeg, Jackie of Portage la Prairie, two nieces; Sharleen and Joeanne, one nephew; Roger.
He will also be sadly missed by several great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Sunday evening, March 19 form 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Evelyn Martha Ferguson
Peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Portage District General Hospital, Evelyn Martha Ferguson, widow of the late John Ferguson, of Portage la Prairie passed away at the age of 75 years.
Graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 11:00 A.M.
If attending, please meet at the Omega Funeral Home at 10:45 A.M. to proceed to the cemetery.
Evelyn was born on July 25, 1930, daughter of Charles and Lily Carson at Portage la Prairie.
She was raised and received her education in the Allandale district.
In 1948 she married Jack Ferguson and they lived at Edwin where her husband was employed as a carpenter.
They resided there until 1997 when they moved to make their home in Portage la Prairie.
Evelyn was an adherent of the United Church of Canada and attended the services held at Allandale School.
In her earlier years she enjoyed curling at the Edwin Curling Club.
For a past time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and needlework.
She also enjoyed growing a small garden and baking.
Evelyn loved to play cards.
Some of her best times were spent with her friends and neighbors in Edwin.
Evelyn took in several foster children, many whom were sick, and made a good home for them until they were placed in permanent homes.
In her later years, Evelyn enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Predeceased by her husband Jack in 1998, she leaves to mourn her passing her son Richard (Audrey) and their sons Garret and Lane, all of Portage la Prairie; and one sister Audrey Burrows of Winnipeg; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Frank Edinger
On Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the Portage District General Hospital, Frank Edinger of Portage la Prairie, beloved husband of Kay passed away at the age of 76 years.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
Frank was born on October 21, 1929 in Dominion City, MB. to William and Marie Edinger.
He married Kay Radford of MacGregor and together they farmed in the MacGregor and Rossendale areas.
In 1975 they moved to Portage. Frank worked at various jobs, painting, security, etc.
He was a regular at the Portage Co-op for coffee and breakfast along with his good friend Dave Neufeld.
Frank’s family and his grandchildren were the most important part of his life.
He was very well known for his quick wit and good humor, teasing his daughters-in law and his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, one infant daughter; Wanita and all his brothers and sisters.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; Kay, three sons; Larry (Wendy) and their children; Meagan and Justin, son; Tom and his son T.J., son; Greg and his daughter Jasmine, his faithful pet and companion; Angie and several nieces and nephews.

William A. Beam
On Monday, February 27, 2006 at the Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, William A. Beam of Portage la Prairie, formerly of Oakville, MB. widow of the late Eva Beam passed away at the age of 81 years.
Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. with the Reverend Fraser Hunter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oakville Cemetery at a later date.
William was born on October 12, 1924 son of William and Alice Beam at Oakville, MB. where he was raised and lived his entire life except the past couple years.
In 1950 he married Eva Maude Denbeigh and together they operated the farm near Oakville.
William was a member of the Oakville Anglican Church. He was active in the 4-H Club for many years.
He loved animals in general especially his horses, cattle and pet dog.
His special times were spent with his grandchildren and family.
Predeceased by his parents, his wife; Eva in 1997 and grandson; Troy in 1993.
He leaves to mourn his passing his four sons; William (Elaine) of Brandon, Wilfred (Brenda), Don (Linda), Doug (Donnaleen) all of Portage, one daughter; Shelly Beam and good friend Daryl of Portage, fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers; Tom (Fran) Beam of Brandon, Ron (Joan) Beam of Sidney, one sister; Elsie Priemski of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation prior to the service.

Rose Marie Asselin
On Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Manitoba Developmental Centre, Rose Marie Asselin, resident of the M.D.C. passed away at the age of 72 years.
Funeral service will be held in the Aspen Centre of the Manitoba Developmental Centre, Portage la Prairie, MB, on Monday, January 30, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. with Chaplain Ron Siemens officiating.
Interment will take place in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg, MB. on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. with the Reverend Father Fred Olds officiating.
Rosie was born on May 2, 1933 in St. Jean Baptiste, MB.
Her parents; Mary and Alfred Asselin predeceased her, along with four brothers; David, George, Euclid and Pete Asselin.
She is survived by a sister; Agatha Kruger and many nieces and nephews.
Rosie was admitted to the Manitoba Developmental Centre on June 27, 1976.
She spent most of her years living on Westview.
Rosie could speak and understand both English and French.
She was delighted whenever a staff member would speak with her in French.
Rosie loved flowers and was happy to receive a bouquet that was delivered to her monthly.
In the summer she would pick wild flowers from the out doors.
Another favorite pastime was coloring and doing puzzles.
She colored pictures daily and presented them to the staff.
Rosie was noted for her singing. She loved to sing hymns and oldies at any special events at the centre.
Rosie endeared herself to all staff with her constant smile and friendly voice.
She will be missed by all, and especially by her favorite nurse; Terry Skinner.
Gladys Marjorie Adair (nee Huggart)
Gladys Marjorie Adair (nee Huggart) passed away July 5, 2002, at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 68 years, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband Len, their son Clifford, her parents William and Hazel Huggart, her brother Tom Huggart, and brother and sister-in-law Allan and Irene Adair.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Lynn and husband Bob Wood, Brian and wife Doris Adair, Scott and wife Sherry Adair and Allison and husband Neil Thiessen; her grandchildren Kevin, Marcy, Sharisse, Carl, Devon, Jaydon, Nickolas and Mackenzie; one brother Bill and wife Gladys Huggart; one sister Sadie and husband Shorty Wilson; sisters in law Pat Huggart and Violet and husband Sandy Fraser; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Gladys was born in Rathwell and lived in the community her entire life. She was actively involved in community activities and a member of Calvin United Church. She enjoyed curling, camping, playing cards, bingo and time spent with her family and friends.
The family would like to express their thanks to all the care givers who helped Gladys during her illness. Special thanks to the Health Science Centre and St. Boniface General Hospital Oncology Departments and the staff on A5 at St. Boniface who cared for Mom in her last week.
Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, July 9th in the Rathwell Memorial Community Centre with Rev. Jim Penhale officiating.

George Luke Payment
On Wednesday June 26, 2002, George Payment suddenly passed away at the Grace Hospital.
George was born in Elie, MB on June 19, 1932 and resided there until his passing.
He leaves to mourn his two sisters, Adeline Quinn and Helen Ammeter (Alvin "Shorty"); his brothers, Leon, Roger (Valerie) and Arthur; sister-in-law Olivia Payment of Montreal; brother-in-law Alfred Ammeter; and many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Marie Payment; his sister Anita Ammeter; his brothers, Alfred and Fernand; 1 sister-in-law Helene Payment; and brother-in-law Paul Quinn.
Prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday July 2 in the Blessed Sacrament Church; Elie; MB, followed by a Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. The family wishes to thank Sherry and Gilles Legault for all they have done for George, It was greatly appreciated.

Peacefully with her family present on Wednesday June 19, 2002 at the Lorne Memorial Hospital, Mrs. Louise Marginet of Bruxelles, Manitoba passed away at the age of 98 years, 9months and 17days.

Louise was predeceased by her husband Alberic (1982), sons Roland (1999) and infant Raymond (1930), infant daughter Angeline(1935), son-in-law Clement Adam (1984), parents Gustave and Marie (Poncelet) Hutlet, and by 4 brothers, 8 sisters, 4 Marginet brothers-in-law and all the spouses.
Grandma Marginet was a mother, homemaker, and avid gardener, known to can 1000 quarts of fruits and vegetables in a season. She was a lover of photography who left us a treasure of photos of each of us and the family activities. She loved family gatherings and was known to count out her own children and remark if any one was missing! She enjoyed playing cards and taught us that winning was not the most important thing. She enjoyed Belgian Bolling and won her first trophy at the tender age of 83. She had her stint as a member of the local CWL. She was quiet in her faith and devotion. She loved music and her daughters remember dancing with her at her 98th birthday party.
Prayers will be held in the Bruxelles Roman Catholic Church on Monday June 24, at 8 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday June 25 at 2 p.m. with Father Gerry Sembrano officiating. Interment to follow in the Bruxelles Parish Cemetery.
