Marie Guyot-Yaremchuk (née Blanchard)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie, dear wife, mother, sister, and Mimi (grandma) on October 22, 2002.
Marie was born Sept. 30, 1941 in Haywood MB. Being the youngest of 5 children, she was definitely spoiled, but she had a zest for life and a great sense of humour. She had a love for playing cards, music and dancing, (especially fiddle music) and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She could cook a gourmet meal in 5 minutes or less and accommodate anyone who walked in the door. Her numerous knitted works are treasured by family and friends.
Marie spent 28 yrs married to Claude Guyot, working the kitchens in construction camps, and being a farm wife and mother in Fannystelle. She also opened her heart and home to many foster children. Marie worked for Home Care in the Fannystelle area for many years, and was favored by many of her patients as she always gave that little extra to make them feel special.
After Claude's passing in July 1988, she met Bob and they were married in 1992. Bob and Marie lived in West St Paul until her passing. Together they enjoyed travelling, fishing, and camping across Canada. Marie's devotion to her family was shown by many phone calls, baking, visits, and genuine care and concern for all of us!
Marie will be lovingly remembered by her family : Bob; Donald (Jeannine Rosset), Jérome, Eric, Stéphan, Jocelyne of Fannystelle; Lorraine (Kevin Anderson) of Calgary AB; Marcel (Marilyne Rouire), Patrick, Brigitte of Haywood; Lynne (Roger Vaillant), Myriam of Haywood. She will also be sadly missed by her sister and guardian angel, Marguerite (Camille Syrenne) of Winnipeg, who spent countless hours with Marie and was with her to the end; brother Maurice (Dolorès Carrière) Blanchard of Brandon; and sister Anna (Gerald Jobin, deceased 1990) of Winnipeg; as well as numerous nephews and nieces, extended family including step son Roy (Lucille) Erin, Kevin(Jennifer), Michael(Wanda); and many very special friends.
Marie was predecessed by her parents Nestor Blanchard (1958) and Obéline Buisson (1993); and brother Joseph (Jeanine Vallée, deceased 1970) Blanchard (1990).
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and doctors at Seven Oaks, St.Boniface MICU, and Concordia ICU for their compassion and care. Thank you to Msgr Louis McCloskey for the spiritual support.
Funeral Mass to be held at Fannystelle Sacred Heart Parish Catholic Church on Saturday, October 26 at 2 pm. Interment to follow at Fannystelle Catholic Cemetery.

Muriel Marie Côté
(née Rondeau on May 20, 1926)
On Wed. Oct. 23, 2002, at the age of 76, with her family at her side, her soul was freed from the earthly pains of cancer, to eternal peace. Muriel had overcome her initial struggle with cancer in 1990 to have many years of quality life. Even after its recurrence in 1999, she remained strong in her faith and brave in her outlook.
Muriel was born in St. Léon, MB where she also spent her childhood and school years until she became a permit teacher and taught school for a year in a one room school house in Layland, MB. In that area, she met George Côté. They married on July 5, 1944. Together for over 42 years, they shared the responsibilities of life on their farm in the Haywood area and raised their 10 children. She experienced many changes from the early days of pioneer living to today's modern conveniences, which she said now made work almost seem fun.
She had her losses, too. Her husband, George, passed away suddenly in Dec. 1986, and her daughter, Diane, succumbed to a lengthy battle with cancer in Feb. 1993.
Medical advances gave us more quality time with Muriel. Yet, there is much more research to do. So that dying is not the only way to free a soul from cancer, she requested we help continue the research by donating to the Manitoba Cancer Foundation.
To Muriel, her riches were found in her faith, in the everyday pleasures of family life, and in the ever-increasing size of her family, which currently totals 19 grandchildren, and, with the birth of Isabelle on Oct. 10, 11 great-grandchildren. Our riches are the gift of a beautiful mother with unlimited love, intriguing patience, quiet confidence, and amazing faith in God. She has inspired natural curiosity and active participation in the everyday learning process of life's lessons with a constant reminder that God is our compass. She allowed each of us to learn in our own way and become our own person, by making us aware we are responsible for our own choices, and we live with the consequence of those choices in our daily life, as well as the afterlife. But she also made us recognize that faith and prayer are not only for sad and serious moments, they are practical and essential comforts to daily life.
She has connected with our hearts in many little ways; if she has with yours, as well, please join us at St. Denis Catholic Church in Haywood on Fri., Oct. 25 at 7:00 pm for prayers and on Sat., Oct. 26 at 10:00 am for the rosary prayers with mass at 10:30, to celebrate the life she did have with us and the life she continues to have through God. If you would like to bring flowers, please bring but one rose each, because it is in our accumulated "little ways" that we can send her a message of love through her belief in St. Thérèse, who is "spending her heaven showering roses on earth", and on this day, through us, for Muriel. For more information about the Society of the Little Flower, go to www.littleflower.org.
Muriel leaves to mourn, her children Jeannette (Harold Maher), Gerard, Edith (Gilbert Demers), Rachel Maier (Ray Desmarais), Denis (Cheryl), Richard (Diane), Georgette (Alan Hjeltman), Henri (Tammy), and Claudette Côté (Grant Skene); her grandchildren Mike, Bruce, Christine, Normand, Gilles, Lorraine, Guy, Louis, Suzanne, Michelle, Aaron, Tyson, Erin, François, Phillip, Tyler, Alexis, Damon, and Maxim, and their spouses; her great-grandchildren Logan, Brandi, Samantha, James, Courtney, Brett, Brenden, Siobhan, Carli, Kayla, and Isabelle; her brothers, sister, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family wish to express their sincere thanks to friends, home care workers, and the doctors, nurses and staff at Carman Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba for their attentive care, understanding, helpfulness, and compassion.

Armand Jobin
On October 29, 2002 with his family at his side, our son, brother, uncle and friend peacefully slipped away to be with the Lord at the age of 63 years.
He leaves to mourn his beloved mother Jeanne, his brothers Arthur, Henri (Gisele), Georges (Gisele) of St Claude, Maurice (Susan), Ernest and sister Cecile Deurbrouck (Robert) of Winnipeg, sisters-in-law Lucette and Judy of Winnipeg. He was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Close to his heart are: Joanne and Darryl (Simone, Melissa, Demi, Ashley, Kelli); Rick and Jocelyn (Rene and Joelle); Dianne and Gino (Carmelo); Louanne and Mike (Evan and Nolan); Raymond and Cheryl (Eric, Christian and Vincent); Ronald, Janelle, Nicolas, Jacqueline and Suzanne. He was predeceased by his father Albert (1993), brothers Albert Jr (1996) and Lucien (2001).
He was an avid horse and nature lover and recently discovered the joy of working with wood. For 45 years, when he worked for the St Claude Creamery (later known as Beatrice, then Parmalat) he never missed a day of work until his recent illness. Armand, through patience and guidance, encouraged many friends and co-workers to follow their dreams and live to their potential. One of his favorite sayings was that "strangers were friends he had not met".
At his request, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, November 2 at 10 am at the St Claude Catholic Church. Interment at the Parish Cemetery at a late date
One of the most exciting times of the year for Armand was the annual get-together at the cabin. At his request, a celebration of his life will take place in early October, 2003. Please plan to attend.
If so desired, donations may be made to the St Claude or Portage Palliative Care, or to a charity of your choice.

Nicolas Robert Edouard Olivier De Ruyver
La joie de vivre en silence
It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Nicolas De Ruyver at St. Boniface Hospital, on November 1, 2002, at the age of 15 years.
Left to grieve his loss are his parents Lionel and Simone De Ruyver (née Gobin) and his brother David; his grandmother, Line De Ruyver (née Sabary) from France; his grandparents, Placide and Lucienne Gobin (née Deleurme) of Saint Claude; uncle, Henri De Ruyver from France; uncles, Robert Gobin (Candace), and Normand Gobin of Saint Claude; aunt, Roseline Carter (Norman) and uncle, Roger Gobin of Winnipeg; cousins, Christopher and Rachel Carter, Ryan and Sarah Gobin. Great-grandparents, Joseph and Maria Deleurme of Notre Dame de Lourdes, many great-aunts and uncles, countless second cousins in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Saint Claude, Winnipeg, Montreal and France also survive him.
He was awaited in heaven by his grandfather, Raymond De Ruyver of France, great-grandparents, Alcide and Ida Gobin (née Ducré), great-grandmother, Renée Sabary (née Durand) of France and by uncle Gérald Gobin of Saint Claude.
Nicolas was born on July 9, 1987, a gentle, second child to Simone and Lionel. Although he was to face numerous health challenges in the years to come, the quality of life Nicolas experienced in his short fifteen years is a tribute to the love and support offered him by his loving parents, Simone and Lionel and his brother, David. Nicolas enjoyed traveling with his family to South America, the Caribbean, Montreal and many times to France. Fondest memories remain for Simone, Lionel and David of their latest trip to France this past summer with Nicolas. His vulnerability and unequalled innocence touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home, Notre Dame de Lourdes on Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Saint Claude Roman Catholic Church on Friday November 8, 2002 at 2 p.m., with Father Rodrigue Bouchard officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Gobin, Normand Gobin, Norman Carter, Christopher Carter, Fransis Desbiolles and David Anderson.
The family would like to thank the staff of St Boniface Emergency, the Winnipeg Paramedic Service, the Winnipeg Police Service, and special thanks to Dr. Booth and Dr. Muruve of Health Sciences Center.
