At this time Mom began a particularly enjoyable part of her life, working as a nurses aide at the Treherne District Hospital. Her time there was cut short by an untimely fall while enjoying her winter pastime, curling, which left her with a replacement hip which limited her mobility.
Married to a musician, Mom enjoyed country music. She showed a surprising enthusiasm for watching hockey, baseball, curling and the occasional wrestling match on TV. She enjoyed the weekly community bingo games and the musical entertainment at the Lodge.
Edith and Bill made their home in Rathwell, MB for over 50 years where they enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of the small community. In later years they spent many enjoyable winters in Mesa, Arizona where they developed many long term friendships and enjoyed many jam sessions and shuffleboard games along with the odd trip to Las Vegas.
In his taking the Lord was gracious, for, as with her late husband, Mom sat in her favorite chair in the morning and quietly passed into the eternal hereafter to join Dad.
With respect to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A celebration of her life service will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Rathwell Memorial Hall, with Reverend Jim Penhale officiating. A reception with family and friends to follow.
