Mr. George Albert Attwell
After a brief struggle with cancer, George passed away peacefully, on May 19, 2006, at the Health Sciences Centre.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Doris Attwell.
George will be sadly missed by his son Alan (Susan); daughter Kathrine (Sean); grandchildren Kieran, Jordan, Kayla.
He will be remembered by his sister Mavis and her children Jason, Theresa, and Raquel who reside in England.
George will also be missed by his extended family, Marie, many friends, and good friend Siana.
George was born and raised in England. He moved to Canada in 1973 with Audrey and his son Alan.
George worked for Cloverdale Paint (formerly Northern Paint) as a tinter and foreman for more than 30 years.
He enjoyed cars, traveling, outdoor activities, soccer, as well as a pint with a game of darts. George was a hardworking, sociable man who made friends easily, and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial reception will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion.
Remembrances may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 in George’s memory.
Mrs. Lucille Marie Lacroix
LUCILLE MARIE LACROIX (nee Duclos) - Peacefully in the presence of her family after a long and courageous battle, Lucille passed away with much dignity at her home in the Grace Hospice.
Lucille will be dearly missed by her children, Gene Lacroix (Janet), Marilyn Mulligan (Joe), Evelyn Peters, Marc Lacroix (Athena); daughter-in-law Marlene LaCroix; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Lucille is survived by her sister Annette Delsnyder (Peter) and sisters-in-law Marie Duclos, Dahlia Braden and Yvonne Byrka.
She was predeceased by her parents Osias and Adrienne Duclos; husband Walter Lacroix; son Lucien LaCroix; sister Germaine Monette and brothers Marcel, August, Denis and Maurice.
Mom was born in Ponteix, SK in 1922.
She spent a happy childhood on her parent’s farm near Cadillac, SK and moved with her family to a farm near Poplar Point, MB in 1937.
Mom and Dad were married in 1939 and they farmed together for forty years in the Belcourt district.
Mom worked very hard raising her family and was actively involved in all aspects of farm life.
Mom was a gracious hostess and a great cook. Her home was always open to visitors and she could whip up a great meal in no time.
In later years Mom also worked at the Lions Manor in Portage and as a home care aide.
Music played a large part in Mom's life. She chorded on piano and guitar for her husband and other fiddlers at old time fiddling contests and dances. Mom was a wonderful singer and shared this talent in her church choirs. She also volunteered her time and talents playing and entertaining at Seniors Homes.
Mom spent her retirement years living at Hamilton House in Winnipeg where she was very involved in all of the activities and had many good friends. Her last days were spent at the Grace Hospice where Mom and the family received such wonderful care from all of the nurses and staff. We are all very grateful for their kindness and compassion.
Prayers will be held on Monday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Blessed John XXIII, 3390 Portage Avenue with interment and reception to follow.
Mr. Harry Puddington Laws
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Harry P. Laws on July 17, at the age of 80 years at Riverview Health Centre
Harry is survived by his loving wife Norma, his daughter Kathy (Elliott) Scott, children; Kristina, Brendan, Jordan and his son Gary Laws, children; Brady and Shianna. Step sons, Jack (Marion) Wakeham and their 5 children; Gary (Janice) Wakeham and their 3 children. His brother Douglas and wife Ruth of Fredericton NB.
Harry was predeceased by his first wife Alberta (nee Morgan) in 1984, mother of Kathy and Gary, also by both parents and brothers, Earl, Gordon and Norman.
Harry grew up in Marysville NB. Attended the Alexander Memorial School then on to Fredericton High School. Entered the University of New Brunswick and graduated in 1952 with a B.Sc. in Forestry. Upon graduation Harry worked for the Dept. of Natural Resources, Province of Manitoba for 33 years, where he eventually became a Director of the Forestry Branch. Harry retired in 1983.
Our families would like to extend our most sincere appreciation to the Doctors and staff at Grace General Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for their care.
At Harry's request a small private service will take place at Chapel Lawn.
Ms. Violet Elizabeth Clegg
Peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2007 Violet passed away at Deer Lodge Hospital. She was predeceased by her brother Alan and her parents, Ben and Margaret Clegg.
Violet will be sadly missed by her sister Margaret Smith, her niece Linda Wiklund (Bruce), her nephew Al Smith (Karen), her great nieces Alana McKague (Warren), Adriane Goyen (Steve) and Jenny Smith, her great nephews James Smith and Sean Smith, Her great great nephews Justin McKague, Cody McKague, Van Goyen, Hudson Goyen, Ben Goyen and great great niece Margaret Goyen and her life long friend Donald Bower.
Violet was born in Oak Point, Manitoba on April 3, 1915. She devoted her life to school teaching in Winnipeg and later retired at Sandy Hook.
Special thanks to the nursing staff at both Grace Hospital and Deer Lodge Hospital for their kindness and care.
In accordance with Violet’s wishes a private family gathering will be held.

Mr. Wayne McIsaac
WAYNE McISAAC (the "Rocket") passed away on Saturday July 14th, 2007 at the age of 65 at the St. Boniface hospital. He leaves to mourn his wife of 45 years Dolores "Doll" McIsaac, daughter Kerri Read (nee: McIsaac), son Jay McIsaac, son in law David Read and daughter in law Sylvia Schroeder McIsaac. Also his grandson and "Little buddy" Avery Read. Wayne is also survived by his sister Beverley Matthewman (nee: McIsaac), brother Glen McIsaac and their families. He is pre-deceased by his father Richard McIsaac and his mother Dorothy "Dora" McIsaac (nee: Reynolds)
Wayne was employed as a salesman for Blackwoods Beverages for 11 years prior to becoming a proud member of the Winnipeg Fire Department. Wayne served 31 years and retired in the rank of Captain in January of 2003. He developed many friendships in his years as a firefighter and held these friendships dear to his heart making sure to attend every event and coffee gathering even after his retirement.
Wayne was proud of his children's accomplishments. One of which was when he welcomed Jay into the Fire Department family as a fellow member. He enjoyed working on the same shift as Jay and at times at the same station.
Wayne was very involved with the Heritage Victoria Community Club as a coach and a Community Club executive member when his children were playing hockey, ringette and baseball. More recently, he enjoyed attending his grandson's soccer and hockey games. Wayne also enjoyed attending Bomber practices with his wife, taking his grandson to the Bomber games with a trip to A&W prior to each game. We know that Avery will always have his own special angel Papa watching over him.
Wayne wore his heart on his sleeve and was always one to put others needs and desires before his own. We will miss his kind heart and welcoming smile. Sleep well Dad - we will miss you.
The family would like to thank the Family Medicine staff at the St. Boniface hospital, the staff at Health Sciences Centre Cancer Care, as well as at Oakview Place.
Funeral services will take place at Calvary Temple, 440 Hargrave at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007, with a reception to follow.

Mr. George MacDonald
Peacefully on July 3, George MacDonald passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital with his family at his bed side.
George is survived by his loving wife, Catherine (Tillie), and his loving son, Donald, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. George was predeceased by his parents, Angus and Jessie MacDonald, sister Catherine Walker, brothers Isaac and Donald (who was killed in action in WWII).
George was born in Winnipeg and graduated from Gordon Bell High School. He was a Piper with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada and served overseas for five years, returning home to Winnipeg on his 24th birthday. Upon his return he joined the Winnipeg Fire Department and served for eleven and a half years. George and Tillie moved to the U.S. in 1957 and remained there for 10 years, returning to Winnipeg in 1967. He worked with Canada Post for 16 years and then retired.
George had a lifelong love of sports, especially baseball, hockey and golf. He was a goaltender on the Cameron Highlander Hockey Team that won the Canadian Army Hockey Championship twice while overseas. George was a long time proud member of Rossmere Country Club and enjoyed many games of golf with his son and many friends. George was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Rouge and Imperial Veteran's Branch.
George dealt with his chronic lung disease with courage and was on home oxygen for 17 and one half years without ever complaining. He fought the good fight with a smile on his face.
Thank you to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the Seven Oaks General Hospital and all the health care providers who helped George through his illness, especially Dr. Earl Hershfield. Thank you to family and friends for their love and support throughout this time. Special thank you to George's niece Joanne and Ron Gillan and to Sandra and Bill Badger for their friendship and caring over the years.
Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
A celebration of George's life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with Reverend Donald Wilson officiating. A reception to follow.
We will love you and remember you forever.
