She met the love of her life John Wydra and the two were married June 25, 1949. Their first born son Hans (John Jr.) was born while they still resided in Germany. After immigrating to Canada they had two more children, Gerald and Erica. They lived a few years in Minitonas before moving to Swan River where she spent the rest of her life. Sadly Emma lost her husband at the young age of 43. She bravely raised her children while earning an income through housekeeping at the local hospital and personal care home till she took an early retirement at age 60.
She will be remembered for her rich accent, her skill in knitting and crocheting, for her big smile, love of people, and enjoying touring around town on her scooter wearing unique hats. Some will remember her for her two different colored eyes and chuckle. She loved flowers and enjoyed the garden walk each year. She loved Jehovah’s creation, even the ravens, she fed them during the winter, watched them and knew them by look and loved the fact that they mated for life.
Emma displayed strong faith in God’s word, she looked forward to God’s promise when “death will be nor more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be any more.” (Rev 21:3, 4) and she eagerly shared with others God’s wonderful promises.
She is survived by her siblings: Paul, Annaliese and Irma. All of her children and grandchildren: Jason, Kristopher, Amanda, Rachel, Jonathan, Jeffrey and Jonathan, Terre, Kendra, Jared and Kyla. She lived long enough to enjoy her 13 great great-grandchildren. Because of distance, she did not get to see them much, but enjoyed seeing their pictures on her I-pad.
A memorial service was held at the Kingdom Hall on March 29, 2014 with Tony Hartog officiating.
Lunch was served at the Veterans Hall, provided and served by the congregation. Eulogies were given by her children and grandchildren.

Shelley was a huge advocate on Inclusion. She showed that for many years joining in protest walks for People with Disabilities. A couple of years ago she believed it was time for a change when she became a new member of Simaril Inc.
Our Parents believed that just because she was born and raised with a disability, she was no different than any one of her siblings. When Shelley reached an age when it was time to leave the nest, our parents looked long and hard for the right fit so Shelley could live independently in the community. We Thank L'Avenir Co-op and Simaril Inc. as well as all the wonderful support staff over the years for assisting Shelley to reach her independent goals in life.
Shelley, you will FOREVER and EVER be remembered for your big bright smile, that sparkle that shined in your eyes, that infectious laugh and the love you poured out for your family and friends.
