Irene Marvel Kerr (Farmer)
Irene Marvel Kerr passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone at the age of 83 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing sons Kelvin of Brandon, Glenn (Brenda) of Devon, Alberta; twin grandsons Ian and Colin; brothers Elmer (Hazel) of Dauphin, MB, Wesley of Gladstone, MB and Kenneth of Portage la Prairie, MB; sister Iris (Albert) Rink of Neepawa, MB and Ivy Charles of Carman. MB; sister-in-law Mary Farmer and brothers-in-law John (Florence) Kerr, Ron Kerr and Edgar Poersch.
Irene was predeceased by husband Lorne, son Ken and brothers Archie, Melvin and Murray.
A private family graveside service was held Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in the Arden Cemetery with Rev. Ian Olive officiating.

Stella Marie Mousseau
Stella was born December 27, 1952 at the Portage General Hospital. She entered into rest on August 9, 2008 at the Portage General Hospital after a short illness of lung cancer.
She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Rosine Mousseau; 2 brothers George and Wilfred; 2 sisters Mary Rose; and one unknown sister that died at birth.
She leaves to mourn 2 sons Barry (Emily) and their children Barry Jr., Serenity and Billy Joe as well as son Jonathan (Agnes). She also leaves to mourn 2 sisters Theresa (John) and Margaret (J.P.); 1 brother Joseph (aka Puluckoo); and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.
Stella Marie was born and raised in Sandy Bay First Nation. Stella’s mother passed away when Stella was five then Stella was raised by her sister Theresa and later attended Residential School here in Sandy Bay. Stella’s favourite past time was staying home, cooking, cleaning her home and taking care of her two sons Barry and Jonathan.
Wake service began Monday, August 11, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. in the Sandy Bay Community Complex.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Paul Bisson officiating. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fabian Mousseau, Clifford Mousseau, Brian Mousseau, Jason Mousseau, Terry Mousseau and Alvin Maytwayashing.

Isaac Benjamin Fehr
Entered into rest at his residence on Friday, August 8, 2008, Isaac Fehr, age 74 years of Austin, Manitoba.
Isaac was born on March 27, 1934 in Winkler, Manitoba to David and Annie Fehr. He resided at his family farm with his parents and brothers Diedrich, David, George and Gerald; and sister Mary until September 28, 1950 when he was admitted to what was then known as the Manitoba School (Manitoba Developmental Centre). On December 11, 1967, Isaac was discharged from the Manitoba School to the care of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Bueckert of Bagot, Manitoba. He later moved to Austin where he took up residence on his own at Hillview Lodge where he remained living until his passing.Isaac enjoyed camping, fishing, picking berries, country music, watching wrestling, and spending time with his friends. He worked at Sprucedale Industries where he made many friends.
Isaac was predeceased by his parents David and Anne Fehr; brother David; foster brother Leonard Bueckert. He is survived by his brother George; cousins John Letkeman & family, Neil & Agatha Neufeld and Abe & Joyce Wiebe; his foster family Abe & Bertha Bueckert and family; special friends Angel Ryland and Becky Bueckert as well as other family members and his extended family at Sprucedale.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Clarke’s Funeral Chapel, MacGregor with interment following in the MacGregor Cemetery.

Anne Friesen (nee Derksen)
Passed away on Friday, August 15, 2008 at Neepawa Hospital at the age of 78 years. Anne was born in Winnipeg on November 9, 1929 and moved to Gardenton in 1931. In 1943 the family moved to Morris where Anne spent her teenage years swimming in the river and playing ball with her friends. After high school Anne moved to Winnipeg to attend Success College and trained as a comptometer operator then was later employed at J.H. Ashdowns Hardware Co.
On June 11, 1955 Anne married Jack Friesen of St. Elizabeth. They moved to Plumas and shortly there after moved to the farm west of Plumas. On the farm Anne, the city girl learned to milk cows, bale & stack hay and grow a garden.
Jack & Anne had two children a son Eric born in 1957 and a daughter Marina born in 1961.
In 1968, Anne left her young family at home and began her nurses training. In 1969 she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Anne worked as an LPN in Gladstone Hospital and at Third Crossing Manor. She retired after 20 years of service on December 30, 1989. Anne enjoyed many pleasant hours in her flower gardens and yard.
Anne lost her husband Jack of 48 years on March 9, 2004.
She is survived by her son Eric and his wife Saskia; their daughters Katherine & Madeleine; and daughter Marina and husband Robert McLean; their son Don (friend Stephani) and daughter Lisa. Anne was predeceased by her brother John in 2007.
A Celebration of Anne’s Life was held Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas United Church with Wendy Denbow officiating. Interment took place prior to the service at the Plumas Cemetery.

Wesley Johnston Turner
1944 - 2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather Wes on August 16, 2008, at the Portage & District General Hospital, with his family at his side.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Karen, sons Darren, Scott (Stacy), Ryan (Stacie), and daughter Chelsey, as well as grandsons Nicholas, Josh, Clarke and Hudson. Wes is also survived by siblings Florence Turner, Eileen Jones, Everett (Diane), Jean Shelvey, Margaret (Russell) Ferris, Dorothy (Richard) Demkey, Kathleen MacMillan, Bev (Glen) Young, Gordon (Val), Ed, Donna (Laurie) Harp, Pat (Bill) Enns, Trevor (Diane), Bert and sister-in-law Helen Turner, as well as Karen's sisters Barb (Brian) Kitching, Val (Gordon) Turner and Chris McKee, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ormey and Alice Turner, brother Robert, brother-in-laws Orval Jones, Bill MacMillan, Mike McKee and Karen's parents Jack and Jean Bowman.
Wes was born at MacGregor May 1, 1944. In December 1968, he married Karen Bowman.
Wes enjoyed a number of employment opportunities, which allowed him to travel northern and western Canada, even as far as Alert. Trans Canada Pipeline was a long time employer. The last few years, Wes enjoyed his work and made many friends at Agassiz Youth Centre, until he had to take medical leave in 2006 due to his illness. In the community, Wes was an avid supporter of sports, especially Minor Hockey that led to many hours watching hockey at the local arena and socializing with everyone. He was also a member of the MacGregor Lion's Club.
Since his illness, he and Karen were able to enjoy some travel, and he was always anxious to share his experiences, the highlight being a family trip to Disney World. His strength during his illness was admired by many. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family, particularly his grandchildren, with whom he spent many happy hours.
Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the MacGregor United Church, MacGregor, MB. Interment followed in the MacGregor Cemetery.

Jacob Wiebe
Our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jacob Wiebe, passed away early in the morning on August 17, 2008 at the MacGregor Personal Care Home.
He was born on June 22, 1925 to parents Henry and Sarah Wiebe at Neu-hoffnung, Manitoba. Here dad received his education. He worked on the family farm until the age of 20. At this stage in his life, he went by train to Sudbury, Ontario and worked in a mine. After this he was employed at various farms until 1955 when he decided to go to work at Main Centre Saskatchewan. Here he met Susie Penner (nee Knelsen).
Jacob was baptized on the confession of his faith in the spring of 1955. Jacob and Susie were married on July 10, 1955. For the first four years of their married life they farmed at Neuhoffnung. In 1959, they moved to MacGregor where they operated a grain and dairy farm.
Dad served as a songleader in our church for approximately 40 years as well as serving in many other church related positions. In 1979, they moved to the town of MacGregor. Here dad worked as a carpenter for a year, and then went on to work as the custodian at the MacGregor Elementary School for seven years. In his retirement years, he spent much energy into a large variety of carpentry projects. Jacob built bowls, hopechests, swings, gliders, deacon benches, various toys and many other items. He took much pride in what he did and loved sharing them with his family. During their retirement years Jacob and Susie enjoyed a bus tour to the east coast as well as a trip to Niagara falls with their friends, Ed and Helen Penner. Over the years his health deteriorated and he spent the last 15 months of his life in the MacGregor Personal Care Home.
Jacob is predeceased by his parents and one sister Sarah.
He is survived by his wife, Susie, six children, Nellie (John) Reimer of MacGregor, Ed (Joyce) Wiebe of MacGregor, Arnold (Anne) Wiebe of MacGregor, Jane (Henry) Dyck of Edrans, Della (George) Wieler of Schanzenfeld, Flora (Ben) Peters of MacGregor, twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Henry, John, Peter, Cornie and Abe as well as one sister Annie.
We would like to thank all the staff at the MacGregor Personal Care Home for their excellent care of Jacob in his final days.
Funeral service was held Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacGregor Sommerfeld Church with Rev. John Unrau officiating and Dorothy Unrau presiding at the piano. Pallbearers were Bruce Reimer, Andrew Wiebe, Byron Wiebe, Darrell Dyck, Shawn Wieler and Travis Peters. Ushers were Andy Knelsen, Brad Wiebe, Bill Reimer and Marv Giesbrecht.

Marshall Russell Roulette “Massy”
Mikkum – Minash – Ice Bird
Massy was born on September 8, 1983 in Gladstone, Manitoba. Massy passed away in Brandon Hospital on Sunday, August 16, 2008 at the age of 24 years.
Massy was into the healing journey and he always encouraged everyone to smudge and follow their traditional ways. He was also the lead singer in a pow-wow group called Sweet Grass Ojibway. Massy’s friends will miss him and carry on with all the songs that they had shared. Massy's godparents Stanley Hobson & Loretta Roulette and their daughter Doris Roulette will also miss him.
He was predeceased by his father Kenneth Clements Roulette; his auntie Loretta; uncles Freddie and Robert; as well as two cousins Sherman Richard and Keith Roulette (Dipper).
He leaves to mourn his passing, his mother Elsie Linda Anne Roulette; four brothers and three sisters Kenneth Roulette Jr. (“Sam”), Beverley Roulette (Johnny) their three kids Frederick, Gregory, and Coltin; William, Patrick and his two kids Kyla and Christina; Peter (Missy), Mona (Harvey) and their baby Haylee, Edna and her two kids Billy and Junior.
Massy will be sadly missed by his whole family.
Wake service began at the Roulette residence in Sandy Bay.
Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nation on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie Desjarlais (tuk-tuk), Ronald Desjarlais, Norbert Richard, Devon Abigosis, Joseph Houle, and Jonathan Mousseau. All friends and family are considered honourary pallbearers.
