KATHLEEN McLENNAN

December 10, 2004

KATHLEEN MAY McLENNAN With wonderful memories and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Kathleen McLennan on December 6, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital. Kathleen and her twin sister, Winnifred, were born May 10, 1909 in Russell, MB. They were the eighth and ninth of 10 children born to Thomas and Edith Simms. Kay married Norman McLennan and for many years they farmed and raised race horses on the McLennan family farm in the Russell district. They had one beloved child, a son, Murray, who tragically was killed in an industrial accident at the age of 21 in 1969. Kay was predeceased by her husband in 1984. She always maintained a great affection for Russell. For the last few years Kay has made her home at Catherine Place in Winnipeg, where she enjoyed the friendship of the residents and staff. Kay loved people. Her great joy in life was her large extended family. Kay was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son, her three brothers, Arthur Simms, Matthew Simms and Wilfred Simms and her four sisters, Hilda Pagan, Anne Skelding, Margaret Pagan and Milly Frisken. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sisters, Jessie Leech of Winnipeg and her twin sister Winnie Kieper of Calgary, and a sister-in-law Kay Simms of Manitou, as well as her many nieces and nephews. With respect to Kay's wishes, cremation has taken place. A grave-side service will be held at a later date in Russell, where her ashes will be interred beside her husband and son. Together again. The family wishes to express thanks to Catherine Place, Kay's health care workers, her family doctor Dr. E. Sochocka, and St. Boniface hospital for their kindness. "You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can remember her and only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on."
