TERENCE KANE

August 18, 2004

TERENCE AKERLIND KANE It is with love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Terence Akerlind Kane at his home at Clearwater Lake, Saturday, August 14, 2004. He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife Jean, of 52 years; children: Shirley (Barry), Jim, David (Nancy), Tanice (Peter), Thomas (Bruce), Bill (Janice) and Minda (Patrick). Terry was blessed with seven grandchildren: Sharlene, Bradley, Sharon, Chloe, Graeme, Kristopher and Rowan, three great-grandchildren: Breanne, Erin, and Kaylee, and two step-grandchildren Karin and David. Terry was proud of all his family and loved them dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Stella and Samuel Kane; and sister Joan Wylie. He is survived by his brothers, Thomas of Winnipeg, and Bill (Bunny) of Saint John, NB. He is also survived by numerous relatives in Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. Born in Winnipeg Tuesday, February 3, 1931, Terry spent his childhood growing up in St. Vital. He attended Windsor School, Norberry School, and Glenlawn Collegiate. Terry enjoyed a 40-year career with C.N. Rail, starting as an operator, then a dispatcher in Winnipeg, and Chief Dispatcher in The Pas, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. During his time and travels he developed a love for the North, and when he retired from C.N. in 1989, moved to Clearwater Lake, where he built his retirement home. This was a very special place for Terry and his family. However, Terry was one not to sit still, and did consulting work for CN on the C.A.T.S. and T.I.B.S and other projects. Terry was a very accomplished man and a "jack of all trades" carpenter, electrician, pilot and computer whiz. All these were completed with perfection and pride. Terry enjoyed involvement with politics and community, and he loved nothing better than debating, with much gusto all these interests. He was the vice-president of the "Clearwater Lake Cottage Owners Association". Terry was one of the founding members of "The Coalition of Manitoba Cottagers In Provincial Parks" wherein he was instrumental in working with the government to ensure the Constitutional Rights of all Canadians to enjoy our provincial parks, now and for future generations. The family would like to thank the many caregivers, especially Dr. Pinder, Judy and Winona, for their kindness and compassion. A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, August 20, 2004, 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home in The Pas, with James Hemauer presiding. A gathering of family and friends to follow at the Clearwater Lake Social Club, The Pas Airport. If friends so desire, donations in Terry's memory made to Cancer Care Manitoba, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg. MB R3E 0V9 would be appreciated by his family. Condolences can be e-mailed to Hemauer Funeral Home at hfh1@mts.net Dad Your parting has left a void in us But we will fill it through the years With thoughts of laughter that we shared Your hopes, your dreams, your fears. We know that you are resting from the sorrow and the tears In a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days or years. You will go on living in the hearts of those you touched For nothing loved is ever lost And you were loved so very much. Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, in care of arrangements. 204-623-3261
