HELEN LOUISE SHAPANSKY Peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2004 at the Portage General Hospital, Helen Shapansky, beloved mother of Sandra, Maxine, Heather, Janice and Hugh, passed away at the age of 70 years. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Crescent Heights Chapel, 1745 Sask. Ave. West, Portage la Prairie on Wednesday, July 14. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Highway Tabernacle, 1680 Sask. Ave. West with reception to follow. DAVID EDWARD (TED) SHORES May 27, 1911 - July 12, 2004 Following a short stay in the Victoria Hospital, David passed away at the age of 93 years. David was predeceased by his parents, David and Jessie Shores; his sister Kathleen (Kay); and a cousin in England. He spent his life in Winnipeg and was employed by Eaton's as a sign painter for 50 years, until his retirement in 1976. During his time with Eaton's, he spent six months of each year working on the Eaton's Santa Claus Parade. He was a lifelong member of the Vintage Locomotive Society (Prairie Dog Central) and was the illustrator and photographer for their newsletter. He was also a member of the Red River Valley Live Steam Association for many years. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 16 at St. John's Cathedral, 135 Anderson Ave. Interment at St. John's Cathedral Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Newsome, Bryan Harmer, Bob Harris, Jack Sine, Gordon Pilcher and Ralph Grant. Special thanks to the 5th floor nursing staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care of David. DOUGLAS JOHN SKYHAR 1969 - 2004 It is with sadness that the Skyhar family announces the sudden passing on July 8, 2004 of Douglas John Skyhar. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his mother Florence; brother Ed (Jacqueline), children, Daryn and Laura; and brother Fred (Pamela). Doug was predeceased by his father William. Doug was a loyal employee with the City of Winnipeg's Park and Recreation for his adult life. Doug was always willing to help anyone in need, family, friends and coworkers. Doug was a private man, yet willing to help anyone anyway he could. His passing will be felt by everyone he knew, especially his mother to whom he was devoted. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held. As Doug especially enjoyed his time with children, through family or work, donations in Doug's memory can be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, Lower Level, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. DOREEN TOUGAS On Monday, July 12, 2004, Doreen Tougas passed away at the Ste. Anne Hospital in Ste. Anne, MB at the age of 71 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Robert Tougas; daughters, Lorraine (Gerald) Desautels and Eliane (Gary) Broda, and her son Paul (Paulette) Tougas; sister Mimi (Gilbert) Pattyn; brothers, George Levesque, Dollard (Yvonne) Levesque, Ghislain Levesque and Guy (Ida) Levesque; grandchildren, Jason and Shawn Desautels, Michelle, Kyle and Renee Broda and Julian Tougas; her in-laws, Joannie Levesque, Jeannine Carriere, Ubald and Barbara Tougas, Laurie and Iris Tougas and Denise Tougas. She will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, her AlAnon friends and the residents at Villa Youville. Doreen was predeceased by her son Marc in 1980 and by two brothers, Gilles and Aurel Levesque. Doreen was born in Monmartre, SK on July 22, 1932. Her true passion was her family, gardening, nature walks, curling and volunteer work. She was renowned for her great cinnamon buns. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. de Moissac and the compassionate staff at the Ste. Anne Hospital. Memorial mass will be celebrated by Fr. Rene E. Chartier at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Ste. Anne, MB on Thursday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m. Interment of Doreen's cremated remains will take place in the Ste. Anne Parish Cemetery following the mass. EARLE NELSON WANAMAKER On Sunday, July 11, 2004, Rev. Earle Wanamaker, beloved Pastor of churches in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, passed away at the age of 79 years. He is survived by his five children, Eric (Barb), Ivan (April), Jo-Anne (Paul), Janis (Bob) and Lynn (Cheryl); eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Wannamaker, Louise (Clifford Wannamaker, deceased) and Jo (Eric Beard, deceased). Earle was predeceased by his loving wife, Florence Martha Wanamaker (nee Woods); brother Howard; infant son David Neal Howard; grandson Andrew Wanamaker; and sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Lloyd Irvine. Dad, the seeds you have planted in your many churches will continue to grow and flourish. We know that the Lord has found you faithful. A celebration of Earle's life will be held on Friday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. in Lockport Community Church (Presbyterian), 6989 Henderson Hwy. Lockport, MB. Interment will follow in McKenzie Presbyterian Church Cemetery. GEORGE WARNOCK Peacefully on Monday, July 12, 2004 George passed away at Pembina Place Personal Care Home. He is survived by loving wife Betty; sons, Bruce and Peter; daughter Brenda Ness, son-in-law Chris and granddaughters, Jennifer (Aaron) and Lynn; sisters, Margaret Mack, Viola Weil (John); and brother Gordon. George was born July 1, 1924 in Wiarton, ON, son of Harvey and Mary Warnock. George worked in the aviation industry all his life and retired from Canadian Airlines in 1984. He was a life member of the Winnipeg Philatelic Society and the Royal Canadian Legion. A private family memorial is planned. Special thanks to the very caring staff at Pembina Place and Victoria Hospital. It was comforting to know he was in such good hands. GEORGE CHARLES WAUTIER On July 8, 2004, George Charles Wautier lost his battle with cancer and heart disease, at the age of 76 years. George was born on a farm near Esterhazy, SK. It was here that his hard working ethics began. George served 25 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an avionics technician. A large part of his career was spent overseas. George also worked 25 years as a project coordinator for the Winnipeg Home Improvement Projects. His parents, Andrew and Theresa, and brother Andrew predeceased him. He is survived by wife Frances Grace Godwin; two sons, Lee Douglas Wautier, his wife Janice and children, Veronica and Andrew; Kerry George Wautier, his wife Lynn and children, Alyssa and Emma. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in Carnouste, SK.
