MORRIS PROKOPPA
July 03, 2004
MORRIS PROKOPPA OCTOBER 12, 1930 - JUNE 29, 2004 Peacefully, on June 29, Morris lost his battle with diabetes with his family by his side. Morris is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia (Palmer), his four children; Colleen (Bernie) Cheater, Russell (Elaine), Glenn (Della) and Shelley Lane (Buddy), his ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Predeceased by father Andrew, his mother Jessie and his brother Stan. Morris started as a baker at Eatons for fourteen years where he met his wife. He then became a police officer and served with the City of Winnipeg for 27 years. Along with these jobs, Morris wore many hats, he was an electrician, carpenter, house builder, security guard and all around handyman. His hobbies included playing guitar, making jewelry and fishing. Rumour has it that he actually caught husky, the Musky in Kenora. Morris spent his years working at Eatons in his favourite suit, a Santa suit and was once named the best Santa in Winnipeg. Although he portrayed a gruff exterior, those who knew him best, knew he was the biggest teddy bear in the world. The only thing bigger then his hands was his heart. Thank-you to the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital Units 5 and 7 on the third floor. Morris will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dialysis Unit of Seven Oaks Hospital. A celebration of Morris' life will be held on Tuesday, July 6 at 1:00 p.m. at St, Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave.
