June 21, 2004
RANDY CHARLES ENGSTROM Peacefully and with great courage and dignity on Friday, June 18, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. as the school bell rang Randy lost his most courageous battle at his home. Gently eased from this world to a better place holding hands with those he loved the most to be greeted by his predeceased grandparents, Engstrom and Lindgren. Left in this world to miss Randy will be the "love of his life" Susan; his children, Michael, Megan; and stepsons, Jesse and Tyler of Winnipeg; as well Randy's parents, Webb and Laura; brother David (Carole), nephews, Mark and Jeff all of Kenora; many wonderful uncles and aunts and cousins of Minneapolis, Calgary, Kenora and Winnipeg. Randy was a devoted school teacher at St. John's High School, where he spent many years as Department Head of the Industrial Arts program and most recently teaching in Special Education. At the time of his diagnoses he was working toward his Post Baccalaureate at the University of Manitoba. Randy loved to learn as much as he loved to teach. Randy was an avid golfer and a member for many years at St. Boniface Golf Club. He had a beautiful swing and was known as "ERNIE ELS of St. B". Randy was a passionate and gifted woodworker. His "sunshine" on cloudy days was his "Girlfriend" mother-in-law Jackie Harrison. We would like to thank Dr. Janice Mulder, Orit Weber, Myrna Brownlee, Caroline Hannah, as well as Kim, Tanis and our other HCAs and all our friends at St. John's High School, and our dear friends that continue their support through this journey.
