CLARK ALOIS EDWARD PLEXMAN 1940 - 2004 Peacefully and quietly at a young age of 63 years, Clark Plexman passed away in his sleep, at home with his loving wife, Judith, at his side. He leaves to mourn his children, Troy, Shannon, Tara, Chantel and many wonderful grandchildren, McKenzie, TJ, Tyler, Seanna and newly born, Brett Allan Clark Plexman. Clark worked for many years driving truck for Winnipeg Supply and Marion Trucking. He will be sadly missed. He started his life December 8, 1940, in Winnipeg, son of Mary and Edward Plexman. Clark was an avid Second World War historian, followed most sporting events, loved boxing and was a huge Elvis Presley fan. It is with sadness and great love that he will be missed very much by all his family, friends and loved ones. Prayers will be held on Friday, June 11, 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 12, 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. MARGUERITE PIERSON POIRIER (nee TOUPIN) On November 23, 2002, Marguerite Pierson passed away at the age of 84 years at the Tache Centre in St. Boniface. She leaves to mourn her son Raymond Poirier (Leslye) and daughter Denise Poirier (Gerald Dufault), sisters, Marie (Donat) Bilodeau, Marcelle (Leo-Paul) Savaria, Yvette (Terence) McGuirk, Simone (Raymond) Smith, Lucille (William) Pelland, Rita (Aime) Dupas, Therese (Paul) Betournay, et Henriette (Rheal) Jubinville; one brother Georges (Lucille) Toupin; brothers-in-law, Jean (Flora) Poirier and Michel Poirier; sisters-in-law, Therese (Archie) Voyer and Angeline Mager; as well as many nieces, nephews and their respective families. Marguerite was born on October 14, 1918 in Gravelbourg, SK but lived all her life in St. Boniface. She attended school at l'Academie St. Joseph and stayed home to help out with the large Toupin family. She was known for her homestyle cooking, especially her delicious desserts and for her keen sense of humour. In 1945, Marguerite married Leo Poirier and together they raised two children, Raymond and Denise. When Leo became ill, Marguerite started working at Eaton's where she thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people. Leo passed away in 1974. Several years later, Marguerite married Marcellin Pierson who passed away within a year of their marriage. Marguerite was predeceased by her parents, Ephrem and Antoinette (nee Joyal) Toupin; her sister Cecile Lockwood; and brother Joseph in infancy. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 26 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Boniface Cathedral. A gathering of family and friends will take place immediately following the service. The family wish to thank Drs. Erhard and Lertzman for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation, Room D1003 - 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. MELVIN CHARLES SHELBY 1910 - 2004 Melvin (Mike) passed away at Tuxedo Villa in Winnipeg on June 7. He was born in Arnaud MB, March 31, 1910. Left to mourn his passing are his sons, Robert (Eileen), Ronald (Bonnie); and daughter Myrna (Lance) Vanbeselaere; son-in-law George Regier (Sarah); brother Floyd (Dorothy); and brothers-in-law, Bill Hopkins, Theodore Strange and Dave Hodgson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cindy (Bruce), Kevin, George, Sherri, Riva, Shawn (Kendra), Daniel (Debbie), and Angie (Richard); by his great-grandchildren, Danielle, Adam, Shelby, and Alex. He was predeceased by his wife Violet in 1974; and a daughter Frances in 1999; his brothers, Dave, Bob, Roy; and sisters, Agnes and Isla. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2:00 p.m. at the Dominion City United Church in Dominion City. Ash interment will take place at the Dominion City Cemetery. PHYLLIS ALICE SHERB - On Friday, June 4, 2004, Phyllis Sherb of Dugald, MB, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Phyllis will be lovingly missed by her husband John and surviving family, who would like to thank the hospital staff for their kind and compassionate care. As per her request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place at Transcona Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis' name to the Salvation Army.

LIL SIMKIN - Lil Simkin passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2004 at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 86 with her family by her side. Born on May 17, 1918 in Calgary, AB. She and her husband Jim raised their family in Winnipeg before moving to Palm Springs, CA. They lived there for 28 years while spending their summers in Winnipeg and Falcon Lake. Lil had a large extended family and numerous friends, many of whom she often kept in touch with by telephone. Lil was active with the Peretz School and Talmud Torah while her children attended both schools and was a member of National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah Wizo. Following the death of her husband, Lil moved back to Winnipeg in 2001 so that she could be close to her daughter Sharron Dudeck (Joel), her son Simon Simkin (Cynthia Hiebert-Simkin) and her grandchildren, Francie and Lauren Dudeck and Sharla, Sarey, Nathan and Jenna Simkin. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She moved to The Waverley where she made many new friends who greatly enriched her final years and with whom she enjoyed meals, visits and bridge games. She continued to keep in contact with her extended family and friends, near and far. The family would like to thank her physicians, Dr. Robyn Olson, Dr. Karen Boyd and Dr. Ruth Simkin, and all the staff on 5-North at the Victoria General Hospital for their kindness and consideration during her stay. She appreciated all of the visits, calls and letters from her family and friends. She is survived by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her sisters, Pearl Kass (Miami, FL) and Sara Donin, her in-laws, Jen Cohen, Abe and Fan Simkin, Myna Simkin (Palm Springs, CA), Rosetta Isenstein (Calgary, AB), numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service, held on Tuesday, June 8 at Congregation Etz Chayim with interment at Rosh Pina Memorial Park, was officiated by Rabbi Henry Balser and Tracy Kasner-Greaves. Pallbearers were Ruthy Gale, Jack Simkin, Sam Simkin, Francie Dudeck, Lauren Dudeck and Nathan Simkin. Honorary pallbearers were Abe Simkin, Martin Ehrlichman, Hartley Gale and Jacqueline Simkin. Shiva is being observed at 840 Oak St. Minyan is at 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning. Donations in her memory may be made to The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.
