Doug Findlay
December 13, 2001
DOUG FINDLAY September 18, 1913 - December 12, 2001 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Doug Findlay, predeceased by his wife Mac in 1987. Left to remember him are his daughter Gail (Arne) Doucette and his son David (Pat) Findlay, as well as numerous grand-children, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Dad spent his working years in Winnipeg, later enjoying his retirement years at the lake (Kenora) and winters in Florida. He could often been seen quietly reading a book or working on some project at the lake. He took pride in his carpentry skills and the work he did. Dad was also a loyal and active member of the Elks Lodge in Kenora for a number of years, and served as Master of the Masonic Dormer Lodge. Dad's sense of humour grew as the years passed as he enjoyed gatherings with his family. Dad's unassuming strength provided us with support in our endeavours. He will be sadly missed. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Concordia Place for their kindness and excellent care. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Friends may call to pay their respects Thursday evening (tonight) between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. Funeral service to follow on Friday, December 14 at 4:00 p.m. at the Concordia Place, 1000 Molson Street. Pastor John Friesen officiating. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.

He will be remembered for his compassion, integrity, and his love of his faith. His life was filled with music, through numerous church choirs and the Bison Men's Chorus. He was an avid curler with the Chaplain's Curling League, and especially enjoyed summers at the cottage at West Hawk Lake, planning and building. Isabel Duncan
December 13, 2001
ISABEL DUNCAN With great sadness we announce the passing of Isabel Duncan on Tuesday, December 11. She lived a full and joyful life and we will miss her dearly. Her husband Ken, her son Don and her sister Vera Littlejohn predeceased her. She leaves her daughter Judy Holden and son-in-law Dave; her sister Myrtle Clemence (Charles); grandchildren, Scott (Melanie), and Paul (Karen); the west coast clan of Jeff, Christine (Mark), Andrea (Darren) and Kim and daughter-in-law Chris. She cherished her three great-grandchildren, Emma, Ashley and Cameron. She was a larger than life role model for all of us. Her zest for life was contagious and she was always game for any family times. She especially loved her summers at the cottage in Sandy Hook and had a claim on "her" bedroom. Gran's sense of humour, style and independence made her so much younger than her 87 years. There is an empty space in our hearts right now but fond memories will soon replace that. A celebration of Isabel's wonderful life will be held at Regents Park United Church, 613 St. Mary's Rd. on Saturday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Paul Campbell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS Society, 2109 Portage Ave. Isabel would like to know that her support of this charity, as a result of Ken's death, carries on through others.
Donald Ellis
December 13, 2001
DONALD SCOTT ELLIS It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Donald Scott Ellis on Monday, December 10, 2001. Besides his beloved wife of 44 years, Orvie, he leaves to mourn his daughter Liz (Barry); granddaughters, Justine and Jenessa; sister Glenis (Milt) Bard; brothers, Bill (Gwen), Burt (Lorraine); sister-in-law Alice Ellis; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Scotty and Mae Ellis; brother Melvin; and stepmother Eleanor Ellis. Don was born in Foxwarren, MB on December 10, 1929. He attended Foxwarren School, Norwood Collegiate, and graduated as a chartered accountant from the University of Manitoba. Shortly after, he joined Ladco Co. Ltd. and enjoyed the challenge of land development where he was instrumental in developing the first lake subdivision in Winnipeg. He was a key player in the Canadian Mint's location in Winnipeg. He went into business on his own after his days at Ladco and was highly respected by all his colleagues. Don was very passionate about his work right until just before his death. Don's other passion was his two grand-daughters. He would be "counting the sleeps" along with them until the next time they could see each other, either in Calgary for Christmas or at the cottage in Ontario where he was the greatest innovator when it came to repairing equipment. He will be remembered for his interest in classical music, especially brass and encouraged anyone who visited the house to have a try on the trumpet, cornet or euphonium. Don was a very generous man and was always there for family and friends in their time of need. Don was an active member at St. Andrew's Anglican Church and spent many years as treasurer and occasionally, advisor. "Papa" will be greatly missed but we know a part of you will always be with us and we will never forget the twinkle in your eye. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8, Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6, or St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0R1. It broke our heart to lose you, But you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. We will never lose the memory Of the one we love so much. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
