Austin Goggin
1927-2009
Austin Goggin, 81, Sussex Corner, and formerly of Elgin, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 4, 2009.
Born in Petitcodiac, he was a son of the late T. Coy and Rena (Smith) Goggin.
Austin is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Bannister); his son, Fred (Bernadette), and her children, Natalie and Jason.
Besides his parents, Austin was predeceased by his brother Arthur Goggin and his sister Alda Setchell.
There will be no visitation by request.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 pm with Rev. James Hammond presiding in the Elgin Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the Old Elgin Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Petitcodiac.
The family wish to extend a special thank-you to the Sussex Extra-Mural nurses for going above and beyond; to special neighbours, Wayne and Emma Brown; and to all the family and friends who visited Austin in the hospital that helped make his day a little brighter.
'Mort' Hubert Ora Smith
'Mort' Hubert Ora Smith of Hillgrove, age 78, passed away, Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born July 29, 1926 in Penobsquis, he was the son of the late Willard and Maude (Wilkins) Smith.
He was a member and deacon of Hillgrove Baptist Church, a former member of the board at ABU, he worked with Transport for Christ and was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the Royal Canadian Engineers.
He retired in 1976 from the Canadian Forces.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys (Davis); daughters, Carolyn Wynes (Reg) of Hillgrove, Jacqueline Wagner (Wayne) of Salisbury; sons, Terry (Heather) of Petitcodiac, Roger (Sharlene) of Buckley Settlement; sisters, Viola Clements of Owen Sound, ON, Zelma Murley (Gary) of Windsor, NS; sisters-in-law, Mildred Mullins, Vera Dempsey, Elsie Tower, Phyllis Smith, Helen Jones (Ron); 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Irvine, Harris; grandchild, Elizabeth
Resting at Hillgrove Baptist Church., with visiting hours on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
The funeral will be held from the Hillgrove Baptist Church on Friday, December 24, 2004 at 11:00 am, Rev. J. French officiating.
Burial will be held in the Hillgrove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac.
For those who desire, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
Robert "Bob" Dale Patterson
1949-2009
Robert “Bob” Dale Patterson, 60, of Petitcodiac, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on August 4, 2009.
Born in Petitcodiac, he was a son of the late Roy and Irene (Thorne) Patterson.
Bob loved the outdoors: four-wheelering, hunting, etc… He enjoyed playing cards, and he had a passion for older cars.
Bob is survived by his wife and best friend of 27 years, Dianne Patterson (nee Keith); his sons, Derek and Julian, both at home; his brother, Raymond Patterson (Ann) of Intervale; his sisters: Linda Marshall of Kitchener, ON, Lois Patterson of Oakville, ON.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister, Betty Rhyno.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in Armstrong’s Funeral Home; a funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 pm in the Petitcodiac Baptist Church with Rev. Gordon Cook presiding.
Interment will be held in Maplewood Cemetery.
Donations to the Petitcodiac Baptist Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
Russell Middleton
1960-2011
Middleton, Russell, 50, of Petitcodiac, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, January 12, 2011.
Russell was a son of Vera Middleton (nee Ayles) of Salisbury and the late Vernon Middleton.
Besides his mother, Russell is survived by his sons: Ryan and Travis; his sisters: Fay, Norma, Elaine, and Diane; his brothers: Leigh, Leslie, Reid, and Darcy.
Russell was predeceased by his father, and by his sister, Marilyn.
There will be no visitation or funeral service as per Russell’s request.
A graveside committal service will be held in the Anagance Cemetery at a later date.

Kenneth M. Carr
1945-2010
Kenneth Carr of Petitcodiac passed away at the Moncton Hospital on February 16, 2010.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac.
As per Kenny's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
Donations to the Petitcodiac Boy's & Girl's Club would be appreciated by the family.
Ethel Eva Killam
1937-2010
Killam, Ethel Eva, 72, of Second North River, passed away at her home on March 24, 2010.
Born in Lorne, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Evangeline (Lavigne) Carrier.
Ethel was a nun for seventeen years and was a member of Saint Judes Roman Catholic Church in Salisbury.
Everett and she were foster parents for 15 years.
Ethel is survived by her husband Everett; her daughters: Wanda (Kenny) of Moncton and Eileen of Second North River; her sons: David (Donna) of Pembroke, ON, Lee (Regina) of Notre Dame, and Ronnie (Tammy) of Fredericton; her sisters: Shirley Roy (Maurice) of Darlington, Alvina Paradi (Levi) of Dalhousie, Monica Furlotte of Lorne, Ghisleine LeBlanc (Malcolm) of Atholville, Youland Furlotte and Solange Hickey (Roland), all of Lorne; brothers: Holten (Laurine) of Montreal, Lindsay (Dianne) of Black Point, Fernand of Lorne and Blair of Fredericton; as well as by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her son, Stanley; her daughter, Alice; and her brothers: Jean Guy, Armand, and Godfrey.
Visitation will be held Friday March 26, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Saturday March 27, 2010 at 10:00 am with Father Phil Mulligan presiding, all in Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Petitcodiac.
Interment will be held in the Monteagle Cemetery at a later date.
Donations to the SPCA or the Monteagle Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
Gerald Willard Steeves
1924-2010
Steeves, Gerald Willard, 85, passed away at the Jordan Lifecare Centre on March 25, 2010.
Formerly of Salisbury, Gerald was born in Intervale; he was a son of the late Cheston “Chet” and Birdie (Wheaton) Steeves.
Gerald is survived by his sister Hazel Cochrane; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his sisters, Alma (Phil) Herrington of Toronto, ON, and Florence (Malcolm) Rosborough of Rexdale, ON; and his brother, Clinton (Marion) Steeves of Hopewell Cape, NB.
Gerald worked at CNR from 1957 until he retired after 31 years of service in 1988.
Gerald was known for his inspiring of softball games and for his love of hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors.
Lastly, Gerald will be fondly remembered for his avid love of bluegrass music and jamborees.
He was a kind and loving uncle and friend.
He had a large number of nieces and nephews that adored him; he will be greatly missed by them.
Having never been married, Gerald had a large extended family that he was very fond of.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 30th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 31st at 11:00 am with Pastor Lloyd O’Blenis presiding, all in Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Petitcodiac.
Interment will be held in the First North River Cemetery.
Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
