Robert John (Bob) Hossack
September 15, 1916 -- April 9, 2001
The death of Robert John (Bob) Hossack, 84 years, husband of Mildred Lena(MacLean) Hossack of Walsh St. occurred at The Moncton Hospital on Monday April 9th 2001.
Born in Williamsburg he was the son of the late Robert Leland and Sara(Dorcas) Hossack. Mr. Hossack had retired from the CNR in 1980 as a Power Tool Maintainer at the Killam Drive Shops. He was also a member of Mountain View United Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Jacquline Ivey of Moncton and one son Irvine (Donna) also of Moncton, one sister Doreen Halett of Vancouver BC and one brother Vaughn (Elizabeth)(Beth) Hossack of Saint John. five grandchildren Felicia(Tim) Geldart, Darlene (Chris) Baldwin, Christal (Jason) Hossack-Ries, Robin (Barry Leet) Ivey and Michael Ivey, four great grandchildren Alicia, Corey, Brandan and Caitlin. As well as several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home(852-3530) 1177 Salisbury Rd Moncton with visiting hours Wednesday April 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Funeral Service will be Thursday April 12th at 2pm in Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Holly Edsall officiating.
A reception will follow in the Family Reception Room of the funeral home following the service. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. For those wishing to, donations may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, The IWK Hospital or the memorial of the donor’s choice.
Shirley Shortliffe
November 28, 1924 - April 4, 2001
Shirley Shortliffe, 74, wife of the late Alfred Shortliffe of Riverview, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Saint John, she was a homemaker. For years she worked at Fine's clothing store in Moncton, and at the Riverview Save Easy. She was a member of the Codiac Cords, and also an avid bowler. She was a Lance Corporal with the Canadian Army during the second world war, stationed in Saint John. She was a very active member of the Riverview United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters Paula Richard (Roland) of Dawson Settlement, Linda Davies (Jim) of Richmond Hill, Ontario.. Her sons, Hubert (Jackie Durette) of Riverview, Allan (Chris) of Moncton, seven grandchildren, Kris, Karen, David, Courtney, Christopher, Sarah and Carina. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her daughter Sharon.
The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, April 6th from7:00 to 9:00 PM at Fair Haven Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, April 7th at 11 AM. Rev. Johnathan Gorham officiating. A reception will follow in the family reception area of the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Moncton Hospital for their care and support and special thanks to the nurses of the Extra Mural Hospital. Greta Agnes Ring
March 1, 1911 - March 30, 2001
The death of Greta Ring, 90, wife of the late Edward Ring occurred at her residence on March 30, after a lengthy illness. Born in Cherryfield she was the daughter of the late John and Charlotte (Lair) LeFurgey. She worked for over 40 years as a cleaning lady in greater Moncton and was a avid bingo player. She was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Later Day Saints and enjoyed fellowship with her Sisters in the Relief Society organization of the Moncton Ward.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Sharon Rayworth of Riverview, Charles Carson of Hillsborough, Evelyn Rayworth of Hillsborough, Brock Carson of Hillsborough, Glenn Carson of Toronto, seven great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by two daughters, Geraldine Laird and Joyce Carson, one son Russell Laird, 5 sisters, Renna, Janet, Grace, Margaret, Charity, five brothers, Calvin, John, Soloman, Isaac, and David. Greta was the last surviving member of her family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 31, 7:00 PM to 9 PM and Sunday, April 1, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM with funeral service in Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, April 2, 2001 with Bishop Jason Jacobs presiding. Interment will take place in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.

Hedley M. Spencer
September 7, 1916 - March 28, 2001
The death of Hedley M. Spencer 84, husband of Joan (Hammond) Spencer occurred Wednesday March 28th at the Moncton Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Acadiavill he was the son of the late Odbur and Agnes (Perry) Spencer. A mechanic, he retired from Dryden Motors in 1980 after 34 years of service.
He was a charter member of Mount Royal United Church and choir.
In addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by his daughter Nancy (Francis) Stack of Bathurst, a step daughter Cheryl (Aubrey) Webb of Charlottetown, PEi, Laurie (Brian) MacNaughton of Lower Coverdale, 5 grand children Patrick, Angela, Carolyn, Sean, and Peter, 5 great grandchildren adn several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Doris, one sister Mayme Germaine, a half brother George Perry. By request there will not be any visiting hours. A memorial service will be held from Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 31 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Ron Maund officiating. Interment will take place in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Following the service the family invite you to join them for a time of fellowship and refreshments in the family reception center of the funeral home. Esson Ryder
November 20, 1939 - March 24, 2001
The death of Esson Ryder, 61, husband of Darlene (Lewis) Ryder of Main St. Havelock occurred Saturday March 24th at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Salem, Havelock, he was the son of the late Elmer and Phyllis (Verrill) Ryder.
He was employed as a meat cutter at Hub Meat Packers Moncton. He was very active in the community as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #86, Lions Club, Orange Lodge, Havelock Volunteer Fire Department and The St. John Ambulance.
In addition to his wife Darlene he is survived by his sons Brad (Heather) of Havelock, Stephen (Karen) of Salisbury, Robbie of Havelock, Jamie (Darla) of Salisbury, one daughter Lori (Stephen) Bourque of Petticodiac, his sisters, Helen (Walt) Irwin of Chelmsford Mass., Patsy (Lyle) Hicks of Havelock, one brother Charles (Margaret) Ryder of Havelock. 5 Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

Samuel S. Setchell
1911 -- 2001
Samuel S. Setchell, husband of Alda(Goggin) Setchell of Riverview, passed away on Tuesday March 20th 2001 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Sydney, NS May 31, 1911.
He was the son of the late Frank and Annie Setchell.
He was instrumental in forming the first optical dispensing company in Moncton, and he was the manager of Moncton Optical for a number of years until his retirement. He was very intrigued with nature and wild life, enjoyed bowling, a long time member of the Moncton Golf Club and an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife Alda(Goggin) daughter Patricia Wilson(Merle) Moncton, sons Frank(Diane) of Rothesay and Michael of Grand Bay Four grandchildren Richard and David Wilson, Shawn Setchell and Rebecca MacKay, eight great grandchildren. In keeping with Sam's wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service.
Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton.

Jeffrey Arthur Barnes
Born in Moncton, March 25, 1965, youngest son of James and Kathryn (Ogilvie) Barnes. Jeff passed away at Moncton Hospital on Saturday March 17 after a courageous battle with cancer. He conquered a rare T-cell Lymphoma in 1996 but again fell ill to cancer early this year. Jeff was a computer student of EGA. He wil be remembered for his athletic ability and his indomitable spirit.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Mrs. Lorna Barnes, Spencer Memorial Home; three sisters and one brother: Robyn (Seth) Greene, Riverview; Jim Barnes; Lisa (Steve) Whiteley, CFB Cold Lake, AB; and Lori Barnes; eight nieces and nephews: Alanna, Alicia and Samantha Greene; Kailee Busse; Sam, Lewis and Sofie Whiteley; and Madison Barnes-Boileau; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Also special friends: Lise Frigault, Claire Lanteigne, Kevin and Krista Bowser, and "MAX".
Visitation at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road on Monday, March 19, 2001, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at First United Baptist Church, Queen Street, Moncton on Tuesday, March 20 at 11 am.
The family has requested that memorial remembrances be directed towards a special fund for an HTHS bursary for athletic ability to be established in Jeff's name-or to a memorial of your choice. Cards available through the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
A Celebration of Jeff's life will be held for all friends at Dooly's, Main Street, Moncton, on Monday at 9 p.m.
Marion J. Dickie
1914 -- 2001
Mrs. Marion Dickie, wife of Ronald, formerly of Kendra St., Moncton and more recently of Royal Court, Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on March 17th 2001.
Born in Salem, Albert Co. she was the daughter of the late Howe and Ethel (Foster) Steeves.
Mrs. Dickie was a member of St. John's United Church and had been a member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club. During her life, Marion, was an active member of the community.
In addition to her husband Ronald, she is survived by one sister Dot Livingston of Dennis, Mass as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister Hilda Johnston, two brothers Lee and Donald Steeves.
By request there will not be any visiting hours prior to a Memorial Service which will be held on Tuesday at 2pm in Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ross Wiseman officiating. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshment in the Funeral Home Reception Room following the service. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
