George Edgar Cobb
The death of George Edgar Cobb, age 90, of Brookview Crescent, Saint John, husband of Ruby (Learning) Cobb, occurred on Monday, November 11, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Barr’d Island NF he was the son of the late Joseph and Julia (Downer) Cobb. George was employed with the Dept. of National Revenue in Public Service for over 40 years. He was a member of the St. George’s Masonic Lodge, St. John’s NF.
Besides his wife he is survived by four sons George of Moncton, William (Ellie) of Langley, BC, Wallace of St. John’s, NF, Lewis of Fredericton, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he is predeceased by one daughter Margaret, several brothers and sisters.
By request there will be no visiting. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2002 from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) at 2:00 PM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
John J. (Jack) Connell
It is with deep sorrow and regret that his family announce the death of Mr. John J. (Jack) Connell, age 68, of 12 Windermere Court, Rothesay, formerly of Kennebecasis Park, which occurred unexpectedly Friday morning, November 1, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Jack was the husband of M. Yvonne (Chiasson) Connell. Born in Saint John, May 26, 1934, Jack was the only son of the late William J. and M. Eileen (Connelly) Connell. He was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Boys School, and studied accounting in Saint John. Jack overcame many physical adversities in his life to achieve his many accomplishments. In his early years, he was employed by Hudson McMackin, and then by St. Joseph’s Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1993, as Assistant Administrator. Jack was very well liked and respected by the staff of St. Joe’s. His fairness was known by all. Jack was very dedicated to quality health care in Saint John and served on many boards and committees during his career and in his retirement. He served on the boards of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, the Saint John School of Nursing, Fundy Linen, Saint John United Way, New Brunswick Arthritis Society, as well as with the Sister’s of Charity.
Besides his wife, Jack is survived by his four daughters, Jacqueline Connell-Vail (Geoffrey), Karen Jones (Derek), both of Saint John, Colleen Flathers (Wayne) of Nanaimo, BC, and Jennifer Connell at home. Jack was a loving grandfather and will be sadly missed by his ten grandchildren, Alexandre, Emilie, Andrew, and Elias Vail, Colin and Brendan Jones, Laura, Sarah, and Amanda Reynhoudt, and Emily Flathers. The children gave him great joy. Jack is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Jean Cromwell (Noel) of Saint John, and Patricia Lockhart (David) of Hampton, his aunt, Jean Connolly of Saint John, five nephews, one niece, and several cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Connell in 1974.
Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424, with visitation on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 4, 2002 at 12:00 Noon from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, NB. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. A Legion of Mary service will be conducted by Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish on Sunday at 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
Gwendolyn Elizabeth (Gwen) Dixon
Passed away peacefully at her residence Kennebec Manor, Saint John NB, on November 1, 2002. Predeceased by her husband Gerald, October 2001.
Survived by her son Claude (Evelyn) of Rothesay, NB; granddaughters Karen of Ottawa, Ontario; Kimberly of Carleton Place, Ontario; great granddaughters Ashley, Amanda, Kayla, Jamie; one brother Eldon (Nora) of Ottawa, Ontario. She lived most of her life in Ottawa, Ontario as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. She was an accomplished pianist.

Ruth Evelyn Doucette
The death of Mrs. Ruth Evelyn (Trott) Doucette, of Saint John, wife of Harold Doucette, occurred on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Nugent) Trott. She is survived by two sons, Edward (Tanya) Doucette of Chipman, and David (Kalaya) Doucette of Saint John, one daughter, Donna Doucette of Saint John, three brothers, Fred Trott of Summerville, Charles and Donald Trott, both of Saint John, eight sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Audrey Drew, Margie Mason, Shirley Saunders, and Joan Cross, all of Saint John, Mary Petty of Vancouver, Barbara Brennan of Ontario, and Harriet of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, three grandchildren, Edward and Bradley Doucette, and Tara Little, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gary Doucette, a grandson, Billy Joe, and a brother, John Trott.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2002 at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the New Brunswick Lung Association.
Ernest M. Forsythe
The death of Ernest M. Forsythe, husband of Florence (Durant) Forsythe, occurred on November 19, 2002, at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born at Bible Hill, NS, he was the son of the late Chapel and Elizabeth Forsythe. He was employed with the New Brunswick Liquor Corporation before his retirement. Besides his wife he is survived by his brothers Brice and his wife Bertha Forsythe of Saint John, Thomas and his wife Isabel Forsythe of Truro, NS, his grandchildren Dana and his wife Trudy Forsythe and their daughter Emily, Brent and his wife Sheryl Forsythe and their daughter Jessica, and Suzanne Forsythe, and his step-children, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Ruby (Babe) (Jeffry) Forsythe, his son Brian, and his sisters Margaret and Agnes.
Following cremation at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424, the funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2002, at 10:00 AM, from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society of Saint John would be appreciated.
Shirley L. Gavin
The death of Shirley L. Gavin, wife of the late Ernest Gavin, occurred on December 17, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Matilda Wilkins. She was employed with Red Rose Tea. She was very active with Edith Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons Steven and his wife Marilyn, Thomas and his wife Maureen, Philip and his wife Christine, her daughters Marilyn Gavin and her husband Georges, Marie Mott-Gavin and her partner Mitch Doherty, all of Saint John, her brothers Chester, Reginald, Ronald, Donnie, Douglas, and Harold, all of Saint John, her sisters Geraldine of St. Catherine’s, ON, Pat and Doreen, both of Saint John, her eleven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was an extraordinary person who will be greatly missed.

Beulah M. Gee
The death of Beulah M. (McMann) Gee, 96, of McNaughton Drive, Saint John East, formerly of Minto, NB, wife of the late Stanley E. Gee, occurred on Thursday, December 12, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Newcastle Creek, NB, on April 12, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Alva (Flowers) McMann.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Gee (Kathy) of Saint John, 12 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by daughter, Evelyn Steeves, son Arnold Gee, grand-daughter, Shirley Gee, brothers, Clarence and Floyd McMann and sister, Viola Bonnell.

Florence Adams Hartt
June 10, 1911 - October 15, 2002
The death of Florence Adams Hartt, last surviving member of her immediate family, of Saint John, NB occurred on October 15, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on June 10, 1911 at Fredericton Junction, she was the youngest daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Nason) Hartt. Florence had attended Normal School in Fredericton and held teaching positions in Rusagonis, Beaver Dam and Hoyt before training as a Registered Nurse in Newport, Rhode Island, graduating in 1942 and then completed post-graduate work in obstetrics and nursery at Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, NJ where she worked for many years before retiring to Saint John in 1970. Florence was a member of Hillcrest United Baptist Church and a charter member of Gladstone Chapter # 12 Order of the Eastern Star, Fredericton Junction; she also had been a member of the Silver Threads Seniors and Hillcrest Ladies Club.
She is survived by one nephew T. Richard Hartt (Donna), Fredericton Junction, two nieces Patricia Westerson (Frederick), Lethbridge, Alberta and Sandra Hartt, Winnipeg, Manitoba, several great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents she is predeceased by a brother Vince in 1947and two sisters Caroline in 1996 and Miriam in 1909.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest United Baptist Church, Lancaster Ave., Saint John West, NB. Interment will be held at Gladstone Cemetery, Fredericton Junction. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donors choice. Alice Rebecca Howard
March 4, 1900-March 27, 2002
A graveside service will be held for Alice Rebecca Howard, on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 11:00 AM, at Fernhill Cemetery, 200 Westmorland Road, Saint John, with Rev. Hubert Bartlett officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to meet at the Cemetery office at 10:45 AM, and to attend a reception at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), following the ceremony.
A memorial service was held in Brockville, ON, on April 2, 2002. Dearly loved mother of Marshall and his wife Helen of Kingston, ON, Ranald and his wife Katherine of Brockville, ON. Dear grandmother of Mary-Ellen Ferguson (Dave), Alison Gallagher (Ray Green), Barbara Warner, George Howard (Ann Marie). Fondly remembered by nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Predeceased by her husband George Howard, three sisters and two brothers.
Charles Alexander "Alex" LeGoff
The death of Mr. Charles Alexander "Alex" LeGoff of Saint John, NB, occurred on Thursday, October 24, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born, October 27, 1914, in Richibucto, NB, he was the son of the late Robert and Amelia (Comeau) LeGoff. Alex was in his 88th year, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Alex had served in the Second World War with the Merchant Marine, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 64. He served with the Corps of Commissioners at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 15 years. For many years, Alex had been employed with the Canadian Pacific Railway. He is survived by one niece, five nephews, and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Freddie and John LeGoff.

Remembrances to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. A Royal Canadian Legion tribute to a Veteran will be held on Friday at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Thomas C.H. "Tom" Morgan
The death of Thomas C.H. "Tom" Morgan of Saint John, occurred on Monday, November 25, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Frederick A. and Evelyn F. (Bayle) Morgan.
He is survived by two brothers, F. Peter and James V., both of Saint John.
A private family service was held, followed by interment in Fernhill Cemetery.
