Darlene (Burtt) Hayes
The death of Darlene (Burtt) Hayes occurred suddenly, at the Saint john Regional Hospital, on Sunday, July 27th, 2003.
Born in Zealand, NB, she was the wife of the late Howard T. Hayes and daughter of the late Rhodes and Marilda (Crouse) Burtt. Darlene loved to cook and enjoyed watching the Blue Jays play. Her laughter, humor, love and concern for others will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Darlene is survived by three sons: Darryl and Terry (Candace) both of Saint John and Michael (Jennifer) of Quispamsis; one sister: Sylvia McKillop (Hugh) of Saint John, NB; four brothers: Robert and Edgar Burtt both of Sudbury, ON, James Burtt of Fredericton, NB and Wayne Burtt (Julie) of Burtt’s Corner, NB; two grandsons: Justin and Nathan; aunts; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, Dana; sister, Gwendolyn; two brothers, Curtis and Irvine.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, 2003, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506)634-7424. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 30th, 2003 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Church. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Thursday at 11:00 AM. For those who wish, donations may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
John Henry Graves
For the benefit of relatives and friends of the late John Henry Graves, who passed away on September 25, 2000, a graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, on Friday, July 4, 2003 at 3:00 PM. Prayers at the grave will be said by Rev. Canon David Genge. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
Cecil (Ike) Graham
The death of Mr. Cecil (Ike) Graham of Duke St. Saint John, NB formerly of Red Head, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, July 18, 2003.
Ike was the son of the late Thomas Peter and Elizabeth (Lanteigne) Graham and was born on June 16, 1921. He was a lifelong resident of the city. He was in the Navy from August 21, 1941 to September 23, 1945 and served in the Battle of the Atlantic and the Murmansk Run. Ike served as a Radar Operator aboard four ships; HMCS Midland, Brockville, Riviere du Loup and the Huron.
He played softball in his younger years and coached the Jervis Bay Legion to three championships in his later years. Ike was also a life long member of the Jervis Bay Legion No. 53, the Main Brace Naval Veteran Club and the Royal Canadian Naval Association.
He worked as a stevedore for 35 years.
Besides his parents, Ike was predeceased by his five brothers; Francis, Fred, Joseph, Lou and Thomas (T.W.) Graham, two sisters; Mary Stevens and Dorothy Hunter.
He is survived by one sister; Rita Graham of Brighton, Massachusetts, several nieces and nephews including Theresa Bezeau and Ralph Hunter both of Red Head, NB, Marilyn Van Beelen and Barbara Jennings both of Saint John, NB and many friends especially Mrs. Ruth Kirkpatrick of Saint John, NB.
Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visiting on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Field of Honour. Remembrances may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Jean E. Gamble
The death of Jean Elizabeth Gamble, of Summerville, NB, wife of the late William J. Gamble, occurred on Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at her residence.
Born in Summerville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Kirk) Hughes.
Mrs. Gamble worked from her home as the Switchboard Operator for the Kingston Peninsula Telephone Company from 1957-1968. Jean was a member of the Summerville United Church and the U.C.W. of the church.
She is survived by four sons, James R. (Shirley) of New Minas, NS, Robert H. (Frances) of Summerville, W. Ronald of Fredericton and D. Gordon (Susan) Summerville, three daughters, V. Pauline Gamble, Joan I. Waters (Fred), both of Summerville and Margaret J. Colwell (Wayne) of Saint John, 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Frances Gamble, grand-daughter Jennifer Gamble, brothers, Leslie and William Hughes, sisters, Ethel Barlow and Isobel Pile.

Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 2:15 PM.

Alice May Fullerton
The death of Alice May Fullerton, wife of the late William Thomas Fullerton, formerly of Hawthorne Ave, occurred on July 23, 2003, at the Kennebec Manor.
Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late George and Elsie (Chipman) Stirling.
She was employed with Stirling Electric Ltd. She was a lifelong resident of Saint John and was a former member of Exmouth Street United Church, member of Portland United Church and the UCW. She is survived by her son Robert G. Fullerton and his wife Marion of St. Albert, AB, her daughter Kathy Cleveland of Long Reach, NB, her brother Fred Stirling and his wife Lillian of Saint John, her sisters Barbara and her husband Eugene Harper of Petitcodiac, NB, Heather Rutherford of Musquash, NB, her grandchildren Caley Matthews, Chris (Jaime) Matthews, Craig (Heidi) Matthews and Jeff Fullerton, her great-grandchildren Gage and Michaela, and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne Frawley
FRAWLEY, Wayne Cedric Sr. – The death of Wayne Frawley of Saint John, NB occurred unexpectedly of Saturday, June 28, 2003. Born in Saint John, NB son of the late John and Kathleen (Currie) Frawley, he had worked as an insulator having been a member of Local 131 – Heat & Frost for 25 years. Wayne enjoyed baseball and hockey. Survived by his wife, Alberta (Voutour) Frawley; two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica both of Saint John; one son, Wayne Jr. of Saint John; one grandson, Avery; four brothers, Phillip (Carolyn), Francis, Richard (Carmel) all of Saint John and Gary (Nancy) of Texas, USA; three sisters, Nancy (Roy) Willard, Judy (Ralph) Hunter and Carol (Daniel) Sudsbear all of Saint John; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Audrey G. Elliott
The death of Audrey G. Elliott of Kennebec Manor, occurred at her residence on Friday, July 4th, 2003. Born in Saint John, NB she was the wife of the late James Edward Elliott and daughter of the late Harvey G. and Nettie (McCain) MacDonald.
Audrey is survived by one daughter, Nancy Goldsworthy (Brian); one son, Paul Elliott (Diane); three step-daughters: Mary McBrine, Dorothy Kirkpatrick and Doreen Bowland; one step-son, Ronald Elliott; one brother, Harold MacDonald (Myrtle), all of Saint John, NB; four grandsons and one great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one son, Robert Elliott; one sister, Muriel Gallant and one brother, Clarence MacDonald.

Bill E. Duke
The death of Bill E. Duke of Saint John, occurred on Saturday, July 5th, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, Bill was the husband of the late Nellie (Munn) Duke and son of the late William Elliott and Minnie May (Currie) Duke. Bill was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army Medical Corp., former member of Branch # 64 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Associate member of W.O. Sergeants Mess, was an avid collector of coins, baseball and hockey cards and was a frequent visitor at the Champlain Heights Irving.
Bill is survived by three daughters: Bonnie Mason (George E.) and Heather Pitt (Russell) both of Saint John and Marlene Duke of Halifax, NS; three sons: Barry (Sandra), Danny (Marylou), Don (Joan) and one foster-son, Gary Brown, all of Saint John; three sisters: Fern Fudge of Saint John, Fay and Naomi Duke both of Ontario; one brother, Art Duke of Saint John; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters: Dorothy Watters, Alma MacFarlane and Tess Heuston and one brother, Calvin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506)634-7424. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 8th, 2003 at 11:00 AM, at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Garden's. Member's of the Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a tribute service on Monday night at 7:00 PM at Brenan's. In lieu of flowers, donation's may be made to the War Amps of Canada, Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation Inc., Canadian Red Cross or to any charity of the donor's choice.
