M.F. Dorothy Ljungstrom

The death of Mrs. M.F. Dorothy Ljungstrom (Allan), of the Gagetown Nursing Home, wife of the late Sea Captain G.B. Ljungstrom, occurred on Saturday July 17, 2004 at her residence. Born 1911 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Glendon and Myla (Hatfield) Allan.

She is survived by son G. B. Ljungstron Q.C. (Linda) of Saint John; grandchildren G.B. Ljungstrom (Jennifer) of Ottawa and Alexandra Sullivan (Charles); great grandchildren Matthew, Gregor, Davis and Kiefer Sullivan and Ainsley and Parker Ljungstrom.

Dorothy was a Pharmacist and had worked for Allan’s Pharmacy, Horslers Drug Store and the Provincial Hospital.

By request there will be no visitation or service. Following cremation, a private family interment will take place in Sjuntorp, Sweden at a later date. In lieu of donations the family has requested to call an old friend and do a favor for a stranger. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424).

Stephen James Dykeman

The death of Stephen James Dykeman, of Saint John, occurred on Thursday July 15th, 2004 at his residence. Born on November 4th, 1954.

He is survived by his parents, Elmer and Doreen (Bartlett) Dykeman. One brother Paul Andrew of Vancouver B.C. Stephen was predeceased by a sister, Janet Lynn.

Stephen had worked at the Saint John Regional Hospital as a Stationary Engineer for many years and was a member of Main Street Baptist Church.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424) with visitation on Friday evening from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home “Chapel” on Saturday July 17th, 2004 at 2pm. Interment will follow in the Jemseg Baptist Cemetery following the service. The family would appreciate donations be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or to the memorial of the donors choice.

Fielden Fitzmaurice Lambert

Canadian Flag - The death of Mr. Fielden Fitzmaurice Lambert, loving husband of Constance (O'Brien) Lambert, of Saint John, occurred unexpectedly on Wednesday July 7, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1924 in St. Stephen, NB he was the son of the late Edward Fielden and Mary Alice May (Clark) Lambert.

Fielden was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army. He worked as a Lieutenant Police Officer with Ports Canada Police for 41 years, retiring in 1984. He had also worked for Brink's Armored Services, and Garvin's Funeral Home. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 54, RCASC Reserves. Fielden was an active volunteer for many years for Fundy Cable and Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Heart Unit.

Besides his loving wife Constance, he is survived by his daughter Margaret-Anne Ashfield (Dale) of Dartmouth, NS; two grandchildren Marianne French (Chad) and Mark Ashfield; and two great grandchildren Ethan Reid Cranston and Brianne Leila French. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother Talbot Lambert and sister Allison Eugene Hanrahan.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Church on Monday July 12, 2004 at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to Romero House Soup Kitchen or to the charity of the donor's choice. A tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. For all Brother Knights of Council 937, a prayer service will be held at the funeral home, Sunday at 7:30pm.

George William Fortune

The death of George William Fortune, after a period of failing health, occurred on Thursday July 1, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife Doris (Tayes) of Rowley; three sons Walter, Edward and Roger (Stacey); one daughter Diane Barrieau all of Saint John County; one special grandson James Kenneth of Fort MacMurray; brothers Stanley of Rowley and Stephen of Baines Corner; sister Sandra Inez of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, Visitation will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) on Friday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Followed by the funeral service at 8:30 p.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Frederick Flowers

The death of Mr. Frederick Flowers, of Sussex, NB, loving companion of Elenor Firth, occurred on Monday June 28, 2004 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born 1937 in Saint John he was the son of the late George and Louise (Hampton) Flowers.

Besides his loving companion Elenor, he is survived by son Wayne of Sussex, daughter Wanda Flowers of Sussex; brother Douglas (Gladys) of Grand Bay-Westfield; sisters Alice Sargeant (Harold) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Muriel Gaunce (James) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Marion Durdan (Edward) of Brown’s Flat and Hazel Corbett (Robert) of Grand Bay-Westfield; good friend Wayne Clements of Saint John; several cousins; nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers William Flowers and Clarence Flowers.

By request there will be no visitation. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held in Greenwood Cemetery on Friday July 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. The family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424).

Betty Olive Martin

The death of Betty O. Martin, wife of the late Henry J. Martin, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday June 26th, 2004. Born on July 28th, 1935 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Catherine (McKinley) Davis .

Betty is survived by two sons; Kim (Susan) Martin and Darrell Martin both of Saint John, two daughters; Kristina (Alan) Gladstone and Deborah (Rick) Benoit also of Saint John, one brother; Ronald Davis and one sister; Shirley Gallery of Saint John, a niece, Karen (Dave) Fox and their children, Jennifer and Michael, five grandchildren; Jason, Kelly, Jamie, Kelsey, and Haley and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Betty is predeceased by two brothers, Roy and Jimmy and a sister, Pat.

Betty was an avid bowler and played softball on several teams here in Saint John.

There will be no visitations by the request of the family .The Funeral Service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John, NB. on Tuesday June 29th, 2004 at 11am from the Fundy “Chapel.” Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the memorial of the donors choice.

Olga Parn McKay

The death of Olga P. McKay, wife of the late Robert McKay, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday June 25th, 2004. Born on July 6th, 1923 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late George and Olga (Walker) Hanson.

Olga is survived by a son Clifford (Joyce) McKay of Saint John; daughter Beverly McKay also of Saint John; two brothers, William of Apohaqui and Lloyd (Juanita) of Sussex, four sisters; Gladys (Stewart) Sherwood of Upperton, Greta Snodgrass of Sussex, Doris Olsen of Cassidy Lake and Wendy Bach of Podiac and a sister in law, Hilda Waters of NS. six grandchildren; Trenia (Jim) McKenna of Saint John, Malee (Derek) Edwards of NewMarket Ont., Crystal McMahon of Saint John, Amber McMahon of Saint John, Gail Garnett of Saint John, and Randy (Alice) Garnett also of Saint John. Nine great grandchildren, Allison and Abby McKenna, Seffon McMahon, Hailey Colwell, Shelby Fitzsimmons, Keeley Edwards, Shea Edwards, Ara Edwards, and Morgan Edwards and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother Gordon. Olga was an avid Bingo Fan.

Visitations will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John, NB. on Monday June 28th, 2004 from 2-4 & 7 to 9pm with the Funeral service being held on Tuesday at 2pm from the Fundy “Chapel”. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations be made to the NB Lung Association or to the memorial of the donors choice.

Ernest Ray Jeffrey

The death of Mr. Ernest Ray Jeffrey, husband of the late H. Jean (Orr) Jeffrey, occurred at his residence on Wednesday June 23, 2004, at the Gagetown Nursing Home. Born 1921, in Woods Harbour, NS, he was the son of the late Chesley Rae and Eva D. (Larkin) Jeffrey.

He is survived by his son Corey Kevin Jeffrey (Danielle Metivier) of Fredericton; his daughter Mary Lou Wagg of Lower Sackville, NS; and his four grandchildren Tamara, Renee, Christie and Jeff. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son Merle Rae Jeffrey; brother Bradford Larkin Jeffrey; sisters Evelyn Jeffrey, Louise Jeffrey and Dora Howie.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday June 27, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday June 28, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society.

Robert Joseph Patterson

The death of Mr. Robert Joseph Patterson, loving husband of June (Publicover) Patterson, of Saint John, occurred on Monday June 21, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1936 in Amherst, NS, he was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret (Fraser) Patterson.

Robert was employed with Irving Oil for 27 years and was in the Air Force with 426 squadron for 7 years.

Besides his devoted wife June, he is survived by his daughters Catherine Evans (Richard) of Ontario, Susan Kyte (Val) of PEI and Deborah Beckwith (Mark) of Saint John; half brother William O’Brien (Linda Dion) of NS; half sister Sharon McKenzie (Stuart) of NS; grandchildren Jennifer, Amanda, Andrew, Elizabeth and James; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters Doreen O’Donnell and Florence Smith.

Following cremation, the family will receive visitors on Wednesday June 23, 2004 from 7-9 p.m., at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424). A Memorial Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday June 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Maureen Mary Aucoin

The death of Mrs. Maureen Mary Aucoin, loving wife of Melvin, of Willow Grove, occurred unexpectedly on Friday June 18, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1933 in Saint John she was the daughter of the late John and Emily (Cormier) Gaudet.

Besides her devoted husband Melvin, she is survived by her loving children, sons, Raymond Aucoin (Sheila) and Sam Aucoin (Pam) both of Saint John; daughters Esther Rouzes (Tom) of Saint John, Phyllis Miller (Neil) of Halifax and Elaine Brooks of Truro; sisters Joan Meals (Leroy) of California, Peggy Walsh of Saint John and Irene White (Austin) of Newfoundland; 18 grandchildren; one great grandchild; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Sheila Aucoin; and brothers Lionel Gaudet and Roger Gaudet.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday June 22, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Robertta Grace Parker

The death of Mrs. Robertta Grace Parker, loving wife of Leman Parker, of Grand Manan, occurred on Wednesday June 16, 2004 at the Grand Manan Hospital. Born 1922 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Allan and Vida Pearl (Burgess) Flewelling.

Besides her loving husband Leman, she is survived by her children Vernon, Leman Jr., and Darlene Paker and Felicity Rogers; brother Burton Flewelling; sister Leola Bond; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, son Gary Parker; sister Marion O’Hare and brother Ernest Flewelling predeceased her.

By request there will be no visitation. Following cremation, a private family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (506-646-2424).
