Father Paul Gerard Doucet
The death of Father Paul Gerard Doucet C.Ss.R. occurred on Friday October 29, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born November 17, 1924 in Belle Cote, along the famous Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, NS, he was the second son of the late Alexander Doucet of Tompkins, NL and the late Florence MacLellan of Belle Cote, NS.
He is survived by two sisters Kay Doucet and May Doucet both of Antigonish, NS; sister in law Clare Doucet of Ottawa; and his Redemptorist Confreres throughout Canada. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother Ronald and sister Georgina.
He was baptized on November 18, 1924 by Father A. Cormier in St. Michael’s Church (1801) East Margaree NS and confirmed in St. Andrew’s Church, St. Andrew’s, NL on September 18, 1937. The family moved to Tompkins NL when Paul was a few months old and Paul attended Tompkins School until he went to Corner Brook for several years of high school where Mr. Fred Scott was principal (Jim and Margaret Scott’s dad). His connections to the Redemptorists came from the parish missions given in his home parish and the close presence of the Redemptorist parish of Holy Redeemer in Corner Brook. He followed his older brother Ronald to the Redemptorists and enrolled in St. Clement’s Juvenate in 1941 then located on St. George Street in Toronto. He took his studies at St. Michael’s High School. In novitiate in 1945-1946 at St. Mary’s College, Brockville, ON under Novice Master Father Neil Corbet he professed his first vows on August 2, 1946 and took final vows at Villa St. Clement, Ennismore ON on August 2, 1949 before Fr. William Wylie, Perfect of Students. After his third year of theology at St. Alphonsus Seminary in Woodstock ON he was ordained on June 29, 1951 in Woodstock by London Bishop John C. Cody. He celebrated his first solemn Mass in St. Dunstan’s Cathedral in Antigonish NS with Msgr. Gallivan (brother of NHL hockey broadcaster Dan Gallivan) and Fr. Charles O’Hara C.Ss.R. (The family moved to Antigonish from Tompkins in 1945). After Second Novitiate at St. Ann’s Montreal PQ in 1951 he was appointed to St. Patrick’s in London Ontario until 1953 when he transferred to St. Alphonsus in Whitbourne, NL caring for the outmissions of Chapel Arm, Bellevue and Hearts Desire until 1956. After two years at St. Patrick’s on Grande Allee in Quebec City serving both Sillery and Ste Foy he moved to St.Teresa’s, Mundy Pond, St. John’s, NL. In 1964 he was appointed to St. Alphonsus, Peterborough, ON before returning to Whitbourne, NL in 1967. In 1969 he moved to St. Teresa’s in St. John’s before returning to Whitbourne in 1970. On the parish staff at Holy Redeemer, Charlottetown, PE from 1971-75 he returned to St. John’s in 1975. In 1978 he was assigned part time to the Provincial Archives while assisting at Assumption Parish in Toronto. In 1981 he was part of the new community in Conception Bay, NL located at Sts. Peter & Paul parish in Harbour Main in the Grand Falls Diocese. He returned to the Provincial Residence in Toronto as Archivist in 1984 remained there until 1997 when he retired to St. Peter’s in Saint John, NB. Father Paul Doucet C.Ss.R. served most of his active ministry in the parish apostolate. He is known for his dedication to the arduous work of parish visitation, the apostolate of the confessional and the work of serious spiritual life. During his time as Archivist he was able to put much of the Archives on computer. A friendly and charitable confrere he enjoys nothing more than a stable community life and an occasional fishing trip to his favorite ponds in Newfoundland or the Kawaratha Lakes near Peterborough.
Resting at St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John, on Sunday October 31, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Prayer Vigil will be held Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church on Monday November 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Belvedere Cemetery, St. John’s, NL on Wednesday November 3, 2004.Donations made to the Divine Mercy Catholic School, St. Peter’s or St.Bridget’s Church Building Fund would be appreciated. Dawn Teresa Frauley
With deep sorrow the family announced the death of Dawn Teresa (Bennett) Frauley, born December 19, 1933, wife of Arthur J. Frauley. She was the daughter of the late Edward Bennett and Marion (O’Neil) Bennett. Her death occurred on the 28th in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital after a 6 month battle of cancer.
Dawn was a stay at home mother who loved to cook , spend time with her family, and enjoyed gardening, knitting, and the people she bowled with on Tuesday mornings. Dawn was a very special person whose beautiful smile and lovely presence will live on in our hearts forever.
In addition to her husband Arthur she is survived by sons Larry (Pam), Tom (Kathy), and Bruce (Lisa), seven grandchildren Erin, Melissa, Sarah, Theresa, Allan, Mark, and Teaghan; sisters-in-law Wanda (Don Murray) and Vicky (Frank Adsett) as well as several nieces and nephews.
She will be resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9, and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11, at the Fundy Funeral Home "Chapel". Interment will follow at the Fern Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a reception that will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home after the services. Donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Regional Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Roden V. Collins
Roden V. Collins passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 82 on Wednesday October 27th, 2004. Born in Saint John NB on May 17th, 1922. Roden is survived by his loving wife; Agnes (Morrison) Collins. He was the son of the late John and Alice (VanWart) Collins.
Besides his wife, Roden is survived by five sons; Robert (Joan), David, Kenneth (Annette), Gary (Sahasta), and Mark (Donna), one daughter, Victoria (John) Mills of Quispamsis, one sister; Kathleen Collins of Saint John, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Roden was predeceased by two brothers; Gordon, and Donald, three sisters; Eleanor Robinson, Marguarte Callan, and Ruth Allen.
Roden served in WWII with the Royal Canadian Air Force and belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #58. Roden was also a member of the Rothesay Baptist Church Choir and enjoyed bowling, working in his garden, was a Mason in Hampton and was a former curler at the Hampton rink.

Oliver Weldon (Jack) Logan
Oliver Weldon (Jack) Logan, of Quispamsis, passed away unexpectedly on Monday October 25th, 2004, surrounded by his wife Gwen and other members of his family at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Saint John and raised in Fairvale, he was the son of Mildred M.Logan (Kelly) of Fairvale and Jack W. Logan of Oak Bay NB.
Jack is survived by his wife Gwendolyn (Alexander) Logan; one daughter, Olivia Dawn Logan; one son, Kyle David Logan; sisters; Susan May, Wendy Hatfield (Wilfred), and Cathy Francis. His extended family; Jim (Grace) Alexander, grandmother in-law, Viola Evans, brother, in-laws, Leon (Debbie), Gary (Dawn), Stephen (Sharon), and Wade. Nieces and nephews; Ken (Diane), Linsey, Vicky, Brent, Jeremy Mitchell, Justin, and Leah and several aunts and uncles, and last but not least, his brothers at the Rothesay Regional Fire Dept.
Jack was an honest and hard working man of few words. He always thought of others before himself, he was also a proud member of the Rothesay Regional Fire Department for over 20 years. He was loved and deeply loved by family and friends. Jack also was involved for many years in the family paving and trucking business. He was an avid race fan and loved camping with his family.

Mrs. Isabella Jean Prime
The death of Mrs. Isabella Jean Prime, wife of the late Lawrence (Larry) B. Prime, of West Saint John, occurred on Saturday January 4, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born June 6, 1927 in St. Martin's, NB she was the daughter of the late Jabesh and Alice (Forsythe) Walton.
Jean was an active member in her church, Grand Bay United Baptist Church, she was a member of United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada NB Branch, Women's Aglow Christian Fellowship, River Valley Ladies Christian Fellowship Breakfast, Elouise's Special Christian Bible Class, Adult Sunday School Grand Bay Baptist Church, and past member of Seniors Advisory Committee for the Mayor of Saint John. She was also President of the Seniors Friendly Circle and Sponsored and Volunteered for World Vision. Jean was one of the founding members and was responsible in the early development of Fundy Funeral Home. She served as the Provisional President and continued to serve for a number of years as Vice President. She was a Consumer Buyer, Department Manger and Service Manager for Pascal Emerson Ltd for 25 years, and General Manager for Pattersons Ltd for four years until retiring in 1983.
She is survived by her loving daughter Brenda Jean Prime of Saint John; one brother Charles G. Walton of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; three grandchildren Dr. Crystal Anne Smith (Richard Carty) of Kingston, Ontario, Paula Helen Smith (Frank Adams) of Saint John and Timothy Lawrence Smith of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Husband Lawrence, father Jabesh, mother Alice, sisters Doris Peterson, Nellie Poutney, Charlotte Reicker, and brothers John Barkhouse, Percy Barkhouse, and William Walton all predeceased her.

Normand Richard
The death of Mr. Normand Richard, loving husband of Sylvia (Doiron) Richard, occurred on Tuesday February 1, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1956 in St. Charles, NB he was the son of Leona (Legere) Richard and the late Edouard Richard. Normand was employed with the Saint John Dry Dock. He loved to work on cars, and will be missed by his many friends and family. Besides his loving wife Sylvia, he is survived by his children Normand and Tanya both at home; brothers Adrien Richard of St. Louis; Joe Richard (Raymonde) of Saint John; Patrick Richard (Aline) of Saint John; Gilles Richard (Nicole) of St. Charles, Roger Richard (Lisa) of St. Charles and Fernand Richard (Eva) of St. Charles; sister Irene Gallant (Paul) of Winnipeg; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joan Marie Jones
The death of Mrs. Joan Marie Jones (Reinhart), loving wife of Theodore Teddy) Jones, occurred on Sunday January 30, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1940 in Saint John, daughter of the late Harris and Greta (Shonaman) Reinhart. Joan worked as a Health Care Aid for many years retiring in 1998. She was also a strong supporter and advocate of Organized Labor. Besides her husband Theodore, she is survived by her three sons Ted (Al), Danny (Peggy) and Derek (Catherine) all of Saint John; grandchildren Dylan Campbell, Kimberley and Kayley Jones, Brandon and Nathaniel Dow; brothers Gordon Reinhart (Dot) of Fredericton and Walter Reinhart (Connie) of Saint John; sisters Mary Ericson (Olie) of Alberta and Lorna Reinhart (Mike Mullins) of Saint John; one uncle Wilford (Buddy) Reinhart; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her daughter Kim Jones (Campbell).

Dianne Gail Keyes
The death of Mrs. Dianne Gail (Grant) Keyes, loving wife of John (Jack) Keyes, of East Saint John, occurred unexpectedly on Wednesday January 26, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1943 in Saint John she was the daughter of the late James Gordon and Nina Bell (Graves) Grant. Dianne was employed for many years with the Bank of Commerce and Bank of Nova Scotia retiring in May of 2000. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Lakewood. Besides her loving husband Jack, she is survived her son Chris and daughter Alyson (Corey Fairbrother) both of Saint John; grandchildren Anna and Aiden; brother Dennis Grant (Ann Marie) of Saint John; sister Irene Grant of Black River; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother James Grant.

William (James) Patrick Little
LITTLE, WILLIAM "JAMES" PATRICK - Passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family on Sunday January 23rd, 2005 at the age of 77. Born on March 15th, 1927 in Saint John. He was the son of the late Harold and Marie Little. James is survived by his loving wife Mable (Hutchinson) of 54 years. Five daughters: Pat (Doug) Marston of Edmonton Alb., Linda (Peter) McCarthy of Rothesay, Wendy (John) Poirier of Saint John, Dawn (David) Colpitts of Airdrie Alb., and Leanne (Bill) Straight of Saint John, two sons: Terry (Marg) of Surrey BC. and Tim (Norma) of Saint John, two brothers: Harold (Dot) of Maccan NS. and Jack of Saint John, four sisters: Eleanor Horgan, Colleen (Tom) Mantle, Christine Black, and Betty Bowes all of Saint John, sixteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. James was a life member of the Saint John City and Dist. Dart League, Honorary member of W.O. and Sgts. Mess, member of the Gentleman's Dart League, CN Pensioners Association, CN Pensioners Bowling League, St. Peters Church, Former President of the St. John the Baptist Credit Union, and President and Chief Auctioneer Hutchinson Family Reunion Assoc. James retired from CN Railway Express after 41 years of service. Last but not least he was always everybody's designated driver, until illness interfered. A grandson, Christopher Poirier, two brothers, Francis and Joseph, and a sister, Marjorie, predeceased James.

Cecil Lawrence Marr
Marr, Cecil Lawrence –of Quispamsis, passed away peacefully at home on Friday January 21st, 2005 at the age of 82. He was the son of the late Ira and Lillian (Lawrence) Marr. Born in Rothesay NB. on May 19th, 1922. Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Mary Catherine (Thomas). Cecil was employed with the International Longshoreman’s Association for 42 years, carpenter for Curtis E. Blakney and built eight homes for his family during his marriage of 65 years. He loved the great outdoors, and spent many happy moments at his summer cottage in Bloomfield with his many toys; snowmobile, Atv, chainsaw, and his snow blower. Cecil is survived by a son; Cecil Philip (Doris) Marr of Balmertown Ont. grandchildren, Susan, Stephen, Randy, and Lisa and great-grandchildren. Four daughters; Joyann Lillian (Gordon) Thorne, grandchildren, Katherine Lynn (William) Dolan, great grandchildren, Kathleen Lillian Dolan, and Elaina Helen Dolan, and a grandson, Aaron Leslie (Shelly Petit) Thorne, grandchildren, Alexandra Katherine Thorne, and Madison Leigh Thorne, a daughter; Carol Diane (Dave) Curtis, granddaughter, Tracy Day (Andrew) Kilpatrick, great granddaughters, Alison Jade Kilpatrick, and Teri Day, daughter, Sandra Jean (David) Donavon, grandson Mark (Helen) Donovan and Troy (Angela) Donovan, daughter; Jeanette Mary (Murray) Gray. Cecil was predeceased by two brothers; Otis, and Theodore Marr, and a sister; Bertha Northrup.

Robert (Ted) H.E. Austin
Robert H.E. Austin (Ted), of 2193 Ocean Westway, 88 years, born in Saint John January 7, 1917, passed away at home on January 16, 2005. Married for 65 years to Margaret V. (Preston) Austin. He leaves three sons Gary Robert Austin, Donald Edward Austin (Sharon) and Ronald Cecil Austin all of Saint John; one foster daughter Mary Kill of Vancouver; one cousin Jean Flewelling of Saint John; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, predeceased by one grandson Vance Austin. He was the son of the late Edward H. Austin and Isobel Plant (Flewelling) Austin. He was a ardent fisherman and hunter all his life and a member of the 174 CRA, owner and proprietor of Austin’s Motorcycle Service for over 45 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for Saint John and Spruce Lake. Ted was a direct descendent of the Empire Loyalist.
By request there will be no visitation. Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday January 19, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
