Hilda Brideau
BRIDEAU, HILDA - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Hilda Brideau devoted wife of Jean Yves Brideau of Rothesay, on August 30, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Born 1957 in Val Comeau to Suzanne (Vienneau) and the late Alphee Comeau. Hilda and Jean Yves were married in October of 1977 and moved to Saint John where she worked for Towers Department Store for over 15 years. Hilda was diagnosed with MS in 1981 but still lived life to the fullest up until her health deteriorated in 1997. Devoted wife, daughter, sister and friend she will be missed by all who loved her. Besides her husband of 30 years, Jean Yves, and her mother Suzanne, Hilda is survived by brothers Everard (Margaret), Euclide (Yolande), Lionel, Hector (Carmeline), Ulysse (Mona), Denis (Sylvie) all of Val Comeau, Levis (Cindy) of Portage River, Artistide and Michel (Isabel Dionne) both of Val Comeau; sisters Anne Marie Boudreau, of La Plante, Melinda Perkinson of Dalhousie, Yolande Roy (Alyre) of Allardville, Laurinda Comeau of Dalhousie, Jeanne MacEachern (Terry) of Tabusintac and Lis Alice Comeau (Eloi Mallet) of Dieppe; brothers and sisters-in-law Fernand (Chantal) of Caraquet, Felicien (Denise), Yolande McLaughlin (Alyre) both of Tracadie, Rachel Brideau of Shediac Bridge, Rejean (Lucie) of Tracadie, Raoul (Ginette) of Montreal, Gisele Brideau (Raymond Benoit) of St. Irene, Sylvie Brideau of Tracadie, Hector (Lilly) of Tracadie and Jacqueline Adams (Harold) of Moncton; aunts and uncles Olesine Benoit, Marcella Vinneau, godfather Albert( Marie Ange) Vienneau and Gerry Vienneau; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Hilda was predeceased by her father Alphee, four brothers, 1 sister and three brothers in law.

Patricia May Carson
CARSON, Patricia - Patricia May Carson devoted wife of Ralph Carson, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday August 29, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Born 1943 to Edwina (Bray) Wilcox of Saint John and the late Heath Jennings.She worked as a Lead Co-ordinator for the Red Cross retiring in June of 2008. Devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she enjoyed crafts, gardening and most of all spending time with family and friends.Pat was very giving of herself, always lending a helping hand and looking out for others. Besides her husband Ralph of 46 years, Pat is survived by her sons Russell of Ontario, Ralph (Sharon) of Riverview and Robb (Misty) of Ontario; daughter Cheryl Bowes (Jim) of Riverview; brothers Heath (Linda) of Lower Sackville, NS, Donald of Deer Lake, Nfld, Robert “Bob” (Bev) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and Cecil (Gloria) of Grand Bay-Westfield; one sister Elaine Smith (Wayne) of British Columbia; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Pat was predeceased by her father and two brothers Frank and Ken.
Visitation will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday September 2, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Private family services will be held at a later date. Beulah Hicks
HICKS, BEULAH- Beulah Hicks of the Loch Lomond Villa, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born 1926 in Hammondvale, Kings Co daughter to the late Tilburn and Ethel (Tabor) Gray. Devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother she devoted her life to her family. Beulah lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Always with a happy smile and loving arms, her joys in life were her grandchildren. She enjoyed pickling in the fall and going to the Outreach Program at the Loch Lomond Villa with her dearest friend Della. Beulah is survived by her four sons Gary (Joyce) of Hampton, Clinton (Joan) of Third Lake, Dwight (Elizabeth) of Saint John and Glenn (Brenda) of Fairfield; nine grandchildren Donna, Troy, Clinton, Curt, Amanda, Tara, Kevin, Erin and Andrew; seven great-grandchildren Maria, Zach, Jordan, Ava, MacKenzie, Matthew and Chealyn; sisters Enid Stanwix of Jefferies Corner, Smiley Tupper of Whitecourt, AB, Bernadean Sherwood of Jefferies Corner; brothers-in-law Alan Hicks of Hampton and Delbert Adair of Sussex; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Douglas Hicks, brother Ora Gray and sister Ina Adair.

Dorothy Mitchell
Dorothy Mitchell of Quispamsis passed on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1926 to the late Peter and Blanche Langille. Dorothy worked for the Hartt Shoe Factory in Fredericton and for Fowler’s Jewelry for many years. Devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dorothy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69, Eastern Star and Knights of Pythias. She enjoyed cooking, watching sports and spending time with family and especially her dear friends from the Kings Valley Manor. She is survived by her son David Mitchell (Nancy) of Wickham; daughter Sandra Ogden (Robert) of Kentville, NS; brother Harold Langille (Gayle) of Barrie, ON; grandchildren Kelli, Jonathan, Ray, Jeffrey, Tim and Shelley; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Doucette, Ernest Sylvain – Ernest Sylvain Doucette passed away peacefully at the Regional Hospital on August 25, 2008. He was born in Rogersville, New Brunswick on October 14, 1927. Ernest is survived by his beloved wife Shirley Melanson and two step sons: Paul (Cheryl) Melanson, Lower Greenwich and David Melanson, Quispamsis. Ernest children: Annette (Walter) Saint John, Yvone (Albert) Bathurst, Beth (Ronald) Saint John, Romeo (Marjorie) Kingston Peninsula, Alice (Pierre) Bathurst, Linda (Danny) Halifax, N.S., Germaine (Ray) Niagra Falls, Ontario. Brothers and sisters: Hector London, Ontario, Edgar (Brenda) Edmonton, Alberta, Leonard (Shirley) Jonquier, Quebec, Roger (Carmen) Oromocto, N.B., Louis (Marie) Moncton, N.B., Lawrence (Linda) Saint John, Donald (Lise) North Bay, Ontario, Alice (Gerald) Rogersville, N.B., Zelia, Saint John, N.B., Jeannie (Gerald) Saint John and Rose Marie (Ray) Moncton, N.B. Ernest worked for City Transit for 28 years in Saint John, N.B. Ernest was a member of the Lions Club in Sussex. Early activities he loved to camp at Pine Cone, Sussex, N.B. He also loved golfing in Sussex. He was an avid crib player. Predeceased by his mother Adele, father Theodore and two children, daughter Florence and son Robert. Two sisters Jeannette and Imelda and two brothers Clifford and Wilfred. Ernest had several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Canadian Diabetes Association. Raymond Joseph Holmes
HOLMES, Raymond Joseph- Raymond J. Holmes of Saint John passed away August 24, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1935 in Miramichi to the late Rafael and Olive (Breau) Holmes. Raymond was a member of the Cathedral and worked for NB Power where he took an early retirement after an industrial accident. He is survived by his wife Sharon (Blaikie) Holmes of Saint John; one brother Israel (Theresa) Holmes of Miramichi; step daugthers Kim Poley and her children Luke and Cynthia LeClaire all of Fredericton and Cynthia Poley of Santa Clarita, CA; brothers-in-law Ted Cormier of Moncton and his five children and Brian W. (Shelagh Phillips) Blaikie of Quispamsis and their children, Sheryl Blaikie of Toronto, Michelle, Sarah and Brian E. W. Blaikie of Quispamsis; and mother-in-law Ruth Blaikie of Saint John. Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his sister Irene Cormier.
By request there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held at Cathedral Of Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo St., on Friday September 5th, 2008 at 12:05 p.m. Donations in memory of Raymond can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Beatrice Mary Baxter
Baxter, Beatrice Mary (Bette) – Bette passed away quietly August 21, 2008 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Nerepis, N.B., June 9, 1930 daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice (Hadfield) McGovern. Bette was a kind, gentle person and loved her family, enjoyed gardening and crafts. Survived by her daughter Karen (Ron) Leger, Nerepis, NB., son Jeffrey (Sarah) Baxter, Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B., stepsons Stephen Baxter, Ont., Bruce (Ann) Baxter, Saint John, N.B., one sister Margie (Jim) Sherwood, Halifax, N.S., four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Donald Baxter.
The family wish to thank the staff of 3BN, Palliative Care, Saint John Regional Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bette’s Life will follow at a later date. Donations to a charity of your choice.
Thomas Alexander Verner
VERNER, Thomas Alexander - Surrounded by his loving family, Thomas Alexander Verner, devoted husband of Florence Mary (Guay) Verner of Saint John passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1932 in Saint John to the late Ernest and Mertise (Hamilton) Verner. Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Tom was a pipe fitter and worked for Saint John Shipbuilders retiring in 1993. A member of Local 213 Plumbers, Pipe fitters and Welders as well as Stella Maris Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp with his family and friends. Besides his wife Florence of 55 years, he is survived by sons and their families, Gary Verner (Lori) their children Kent and Sonja; Edward Verner (Dana), their children Jacob, Abbigail and Chelsea all of Saint John; brothers Joseph, John (Marg), Harry and David; sisters Mertice (John), Audrey (Dave), Gena (Al) and Edna (Fred); several nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. with visitation on Friday August 22nd from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Saturday August 23rd, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Patricia Rae Cormier
Patricia Rae Cormier, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2008. Born December 16, 1950, in P.E.I. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Lea (Bryanton) Champion. Patricia worked as a Registered nurse and prominent businesswoman for many years. Patricia enjoyed nature, the love for books and had passion for seeing the world. Surviving are children Justin (Jennie) Cormier, Lower Sackville, NS; Melissa Cormier, (Mark Peters), Saint John; Patricia Taylor Rae Cormier, Saint John; a brother Charlie Lowther, Sussex; sisters Lauralea Hourihan, P.E.I.; Janet (Trevor) Shaw, Lepreau, NB; grandchildren, Drew, Odessa and Carter; former loving husband, Wayne Cormier, Several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son Brian.
Visiting hours will be held this evening (Friday, August 22) from 7 to 9 PM from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint JOhn (646-2424). Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 PM, from Fundy Funeral home Chapel. Private interment will be held at a later date. Theodore (Guid) Joseph Guidry
The death of Theodore Joseph (Guid) Guidry, husband of the late Gladys (Campbell) Guidry occurred peacefully on Monday August 18, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1926 in Campbellton, NB he was the son of the late Theodore and Bertha (Duffy) Guidry. Theodore worked as a Steel Worker for the Saint John Dry Dock for over 40 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a former member of the Salmon River Angling Association. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his loving children Donna London (Edward), John Guidry (Janet Harrison) and Gerry Guidry all of Saint John; five grandchildren Amanda Hamm (Jeremy), Ryan London, Edward London, Amanda Speight (Jason) and Brent Harrison; great grandson Carter Speight; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by a daughter Phyllis Jean Guidry, sisters Muriel Evans, Lillian Guidry and Genevieve McCaskill; brother Allison Guidry.
Following cremation, Visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Tuesday August 19 – 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday August 20 – 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday August 21, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Harry Irvin Hawkes
The death of Harry Irvin Hawkes husband of the late Dorothy (Wood) Hawkes occurred on Monday August 11, 2008 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1926 he was the son of the late William and Mary (Chambers) Hawkes. Harry is survived by a brother Murray (Eileen), Waterford; a sister Mary Patterson, Sussex; a cousin Sandra (James) Atkinson, Saint John; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Harry was pre deceased by his wife Dorothy (Wood) Hawkes; brothers Garnet, Robert, James and Roland; sisters Doris and Marjorie.

McGOVERN, DONALD - Donald Paul McGovern of Saint John devoted husband of Brenda (Spray) McGovern passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday August 9, 2008 surrounded by his family. Born 1946 in Saint John to the late Laura Leslie (Eccles) and Walter Leo McGovern. Donald was a mechanic for the Department of Transportation and Waste Management. A member of the Order of Eastern Star, Saint John Chapter # 14 and the Masonic Temple Saint John Lodge #2. Donald is survived by his wife Brenda of 36 years, sons Steven Bruce Galbraith of Saint John and Kent Douglas McGovern of Barrie, ON; daughter Heather Joyce Ferrar (Mark) of Barrie, ON; brother William McGovern (Inez); sisters Marjorie Gatien and Kathleen Biddiscombe (Earl) all of Saint John; seven grandchildren and one great grandson; mother-in-law Gladys Spray of Saint John; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

SNODGRASS, PATRICIA ANN - It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Patricia Ann Snodgrass at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on August 7, 2008 after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. Born 1935 in Toronto, ON to the late Madeline (Ryan) and George Francis. Pat will be sadly missed by her devoted husband of 26 years Gerry Snodgrass of Saint John; son Michael MacAlpine (Ilona) of Halifax, NS; daughter Teri Nickerson (Andy) of Yarmouth, NS; greatly missed by her loving grandchildren Shelby Nickerson and Nicholas and Alexander MacAlpine who were her greatest joys in life. She will also be missed by her sister Karen Francis and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jean Francis all of Toronto; nieces, nephews; many cousins and friends. Pat enjoyed camping, traveling, playing games on the computer and her garden.
