John Francis Pike
PIKE, John Francis, 60, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2008, at the Kingsway Care Centre, Quispamsis. Born July 20, 1948 in England, he was the son of the late John and Gladys Pike. John lived a very rich life and was a true gentleman. He loved people and was loved by many who came to know him. John lived in Forest Hills for 40 years and was an active member of the congregation at Forest Hills Baptist Church. He was a devoted member of L’Arche Saint John and in 2005 became a founding core member of the L’Arche home in Saint John. John was a loyal employee of Key Industries for many years before his retirement. He had a passion for singing and music, having a large collection of vinyl records. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, watching sports, and was very photogenic. He is survived by a brother Kenneth Pike (Catherine) of Rothesay; sisters Ann Quigg (Dick) of Fredericton, Barbara Pike (Tom) of Saint John, Judith Pike of Saint John, Ruth Campbell (Bruce) of Russell, ON and Susan Pike-Raynes (Keith Raynes) of Saint John. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives in England, Newfoundland and Ontario, his L’Arche family, and many friends. He will be dearly missed.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Thursday September 25, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church on Friday September 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Reception will follow at Forest Hills Baptist Church Hall. Private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the New Brunswick Association for Community Living or New Dawn/L’Arche Saint John Inc.
Roger Atwood Newman
The death of Roger Atwood Newman, loving husband of Aline Doiron, occurred peacefully on Sunday September 21, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Born 1937 in St. Stephen he was the son of the late Douglas Calvin and Annie Joyce (Savage) Newman. Roger worked as a Ship’s Captain for various companies. He worked for Atlantic Towing in Saint John and retired from Eastern Canada Towing in Halifax where he worked for 16 years. Besides his wife Aline, he is survived by his loving daughters Audra Newman of Saint John, Lisa McKinney of Saint John and Cindy Schindler (Kris) of North Dakota; three grandchildren Samantha McKinney (Josh) of Saint John, Kimberly McKinney of Saint John and Camille Schindler of North Dakota; two great grandchildren Paige and Noah McKinney. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Neurology (4BS) and Palliative Care Unit Saint John Regional Hospital.
By request there will be no visitations or funeral service. A private family interment will take place in Campobello Island at a later date. The family would appreciate donations made to the Palliative Care Unit Saint John Regional Hospital, Campobello Nursing Home or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Harold Francis Bridges
The death of Harold Francis Bridges of King Street East, Saint John occurred on September 20, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in PEI in 1944 he was the son of the late Henry and Agatha (Malone) Bridges. Harold worked for many years at Saint John Spring Works in the Radiator Shop where he retired from a short time ago. He was a quiet man and he loved spending time with his children and family. He is survived by his eight children Anne Vance (Terry) of Ontario, Carrie Elliott (Ken) of Ontario, David Wilson (Bonnie) of BC, Kimberly MacPhail (Stephen) of PEI, Katrina James (Alan) of PEI, Amanda Dean (Grant) of PEI, Harold Preston of PEI and April Preston of PEI; 13 grand children and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Iva Everett, of Ontario, Justin Bridges of Saint John, Bernetta Reeves (Bruce) of PEI, Trudy Matheson of Ontario, Doreen Bridges (Rudolphe) of Saint John, Diane Brown (Norman) of Ontario, Kenny Bridges (Lucia) of PEI, Richard Bridges (Gwendy) of Saint John, Albert Bridges (Sondra) of PEI, Leo Bridges (Nancy) of Ontario, Joyce Dean (Richard) of Saint John, Leonard Bridges (Darlene) of PEI and Genevieve Wilson (John) of Ontario; and many nieces and nephews.

Brenda Joy Fillmore Guignard
The death of Brenda Joy Fillmore Guignard occurred unexpectedly on Friday September 19, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1951 in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Lew Francis and Elsie Patricia (Watson) Fillmore. Brenda was a happy go lucky person. She is survived by her children Vicki Dow (Edward) of Saint John, Tammy Guignard of Edmonton, AB and Allan Guignard of Moncton; five grandchildren Leanne Dow, Edward Richard Dow, Kathleen Dow, Tabatha Guignard and Keith Nesbit; brothers David Fillmore (Brenda), Billy Fillmore, Ivan Watson all of Saint John and sister Karen Watson (Michael) of Saint John, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a son Richard Guignard, step-father Adrien Watson and grandson Keith Allan Guignard.
A Memorial Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday September 24, 2008 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held from 10 am until service time. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held at 85 Owens Road, the home of David and Brenda Fillmore. Jonathan Barry Ingersoll
INGERSOLL, JONATHAN BARRY – 17 After a fierce battle with leukemia, it is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Jonathan Ingersoll that occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 18, 2008. Born November 1990 in Saint John, he was the beloved son of Michael Ingersoll (Sherry) and Doreen L. McCullough (Marcel Doucet); cherished brother of Joel, Jeremy, and step-brother Josh; idolized big brother to his sister Devyn; devoted grandson to paternal grandfather Donald Ingersoll; maternal grandmother Doreen M. McCullough. Jonathan leaves to mourn aunts Dana and June McCullough, uncles Barry (Linda), Vernon and Orville McCullough and many more aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many dear and close friends, especially his soul mate and girlfriend Katelyn Lavoie, best friends Chris Boyce, Dallas Cormier, Garrett Boyce, Trevor Breau, Jonathan Bradbin, Tim Jackson and his godson Jonah Barry Peters, his best bud Tyler Cranston from IWK. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Paulianna (Doiron) Ingersoll and maternal grandfather Orville G. McCullough. Jonathan was a true life hero that inspired anyone who met him with his tremendous strength and courage to be more and to do more in their life. Even though he could not be cured from this terrible disease, it did not win as Jonathan battled courageously and never let it get him or anyone around him down. He was a sweet talker and always had a joke or story to tell. His charm made him a favourite with all of the doctors, nurses and patients alike at the IWK, the Saint John Regional and Linda from the Ronald McDonald House. Jonathan was proud to graduate from Saint John High, class of 2008. He enjoyed partying, snowboarding, camping, football, and music. Jonathan worked at the Irving Mainway on Loch Lomond Road while attending school. –ING THE KING–

Lina Sylvia Reynolds
The death of Lina Sylvia Reynolds, loving wife of Garfield Reynolds, of the Kingsway Care Centre, Quispamsis occurred on Monday October 20, 2008. Born 1934 in Bloomfield, NB she was the daughter of the late Minor and Hilda (Bethune) Bennett. Lina worked as a Florist for 30 years in the City Market and Fowlers Flower Shop. Besides her loving husband Garfield of 55 years, she is survived by three sisters Virginia Lambert of Kingsway Care Centre, Eileen Paulsen of Nova Scotia and Idina Bennett of Hampton; sister-in-law Margaret Bennett of Nauwigewauk; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brother Sandy Bennett.
Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday October 22, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday October 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Jessie Veronica Lewis-Wright
The death of Jessie Veronica (Stevens) Lewis-Wright occurred on October 19, 2008 peacefully at home. Jessie was born in River Herbert East, NS on November 7, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Hattie (McAloney) Stevens. She is predeceased by her first husband Johnny Lewis and second husband Llewellyn Wright and a large family of brothers and sisters. Jessie is survived by her daughter Marlene Trecartin of Saint John and her grandson Shawn Trecartin and wife Barbara of Welsford. Jessie was a strong, independent woman who loved to bake and cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her two special pets, her cat Sookie and dog Dolly.
By request of the family, no visitations or funeral service will be held. A private family interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. Margaret Bernice Milne
The death of Margaret Bernice Milne of Saint John occurred on Saturday October 18, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1925 in Saint John she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Clayton) Irvine. Margaret had worked as a Druggist/Pharmacist with Robins Drug Store and Brown’s Drug Store many years ago. She was one of the first women Pharmacist’s in Saint John. She worked as a Receptionist for Dr. Silver and was a loving full-time Mom and Grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters Sandra Beverley Milne of Ottawa and Pamela Milne-Vibert and her husband Philip of Saint John; grandchildren Melanie Mathias (Nic Munro) of Gondola Point, Jessie Mathias (Gary MacLeod) of Penobsquis, Richard Mathias of Saint John, Alex and Fraser Braden of Ottawa; step-grandchildren Sydney, Spencer and S’rena Vibert all of Fredericton. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Roy Douglas George Milne and brother John Irvine.

Philip Richmond Withers
Philip Richmond Withers, loving husband of Kay Withers, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family by his side. Born in 1925 in Saint John, he was the son of Frederick William and Susannah Withers. As a Veteran of WWII who served in the RCNVR, Philip resided at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing after spending many wonderful years in Quispamsis. A member of Saint John Typographical Union Local 85, he worked in the composing room of the Evening Times Globe for 43 years, until retiring in 1990. Philip served on the advisory board of the Boys' Industrial Home and was part of the Boy Scouts of Canada movement. He volunteered for 12 years with St. John Ambulance as a driver and attendant with the town of Quispamsis's ambulance service. Philip served on recreation committees for the town, and was a board member of both Quispamsis United Church and the KV Food Basket, where he volunteered for several years. Philip was also a member of the Hammond River Angling Association and the Saint John Naturalist Club; he was active in the installation of the observatory at Point Lepreau, where seabird migrations are recorded. Philip is survived by Kay, his wife of 58 years; two sons: Andy Withers (Carolyn) of Kennebecasis Park and Tom Withers (Thérèse) of Saint John; two daughters: Dale Cook (Bruce) of Quispamsis and Kathleen Nelson (Randy) of Red Deer, AB; four grandchildren (Withers): Angela, Jeffery, Jennifer, Andrew; three grandchildren (Cook): Alex, Elizabeth, and Adam; one brother: Frank Withers (Mitzi) of Milkish Creek; two sisters: Janice Morrison of Woodstock, NB and Frances Izzard (Jack) of Halifax, NS; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers: Murray and Edward Withers.
Philip will be resting at Fundy Funeral Home (230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, 646-2424) with visitations on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Tribute to a Veteran service will commence with the 7 p.m. visitation. The funeral service will be held at Quispamsis United Church on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception in the church hall and interment at Black River United Church Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Reverend John Martin, Dr. Hollway, and palliative care nurses and staff for their gracious care. Laurie Joseph Boudreau
The death of Laurie Joseph Boudreau Sr., loving husband of Lorraine Mary (Cormier) Boudreau, of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home occurred on Wednesday October 15, 2008 at his residence. Born 1917 in Moncton he was the son of the late Ammie and Annie (Gould) Boudreau. Joseph worked for Air Canada as a Mechanic for many years. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his loving wife Lorraine of 70 years, he is survived by three sons Robert Boudreau (Jackie) of Montreal, Roger Boudreau (Patti) of Moncton and Laurie Boudreau (Sylvia) of Belleville, ON; two daughters Joanne Allen and Gloria St. Pierre (Richard) both of Saint John; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by son-in-law Rick Allen; brother Gerald; sisters Katherine and Flo.

Robert Anstis
The death of Robert Anstis widower of the late Elizabeth (Hetherington) Anstis occurred on Tuesday October 14, 2008 at The Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Robert was born to the late Herbert and Ruth (Forrester) Anstis in Birmingham, England on March 8, 1921. The family emigrated to Canada in 1931 and settled in Midland, N.B. Robin served in the Canadian Army during the 2nd World War. Subsequently he completed Pharmaceutical training and over the years was employed by Walsh’s, Wassons, McLean Matthews, Shoppers and Superstore pharmacies. His retirement years were greatly enhanced by the companionship of his beloved dog, Diamond. Robert is survived by one son Ross (Karen) Anstis of Fredericton; one sister Ruthie (Lloyd) Fullerton of Saint John; grandchildren Daniel, Leah and Juli Anstis; great grandson Ryley and one niece Susan McLean (Edward). Besides his parents and wife Elizabeth, Robert was predeceased by brothers William and John Anstis and one sister Margaret Williams.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). At the families request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Sunday October 19, 2008 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Midland Cemetery. Donations in memory of Robert may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, SPCA, Animal Rescue League or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Frank Eugene Smith
Smith, Frank Eugene (1927 – 2008) The passing of Frank Smith of Saint John occurred unexpectedly on October 14, 2008 while he was doing one of the things he loved to do, fish the Miramichi River. Frank was born in Newellton, Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia on April 30, 1927, the son of the late Kenneth and Edna (Brennan) Smith. Frank has been a resident of Saint John since the early 1960’s, and worked for many years in sales at Apex Industries. In recent years Frank and his wife Lorraine have been resident caretakers and “camp parents” at Windcrest Bible Camp on the Damascus Road. Frank began his working life as a fisherman out of Clarks Harbour, Nova Scotia, but he has had many skills. Besides successfully working in the sales field, his woodworking was a feature of local craft fairs for a number of years. There were very few things mechanical that he couldn’t fix, he liked to garden, and he loved to fish salmon. Frank’s greatest calling, however, was in serving his Lord and Saviour. He was a diligent and devoted student of the Bible, and has been used greatly of the Lord in various teaching and preaching ministries. He has been a valued member of Fundamental Baptist Church for over forty five years and has served faithfully as both a deacon and a trustee. His wisdom and spiritual insight will be greatly missed by the congregation. Frank is survived by one son Richard and his wife Nancy of Saint John, NB, by two brothers, Keith (Hazel) of Prince Edward Island and Nobel (Olive) of Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia, and by two sisters – Mildred Blades, and Myrtle Smith, both of Cape Sable Island. As well as his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Lorraine, by brothers Eldridge and Freddy, and by sisters Caroline, Evelyn, and Greta. Frank is also survived by six grandsons - Timothy (Becky), Jonathan (Ann), Richard, Daniel (Melinda), Keith, and Samuel, all of Saint John. His memory is also honoured in four great-grand children - Josiah, Joanna, Jenna, and Taylor.
Visitation with the family will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) on Thursday evening October 16th from 7-9p.m. and on Friday, October 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be at the Fundamental Baptist Church, 885 Danells Drive, Saint John West on Saturday, October 18 at 11:00 am. A reception at the church will immediately follow the service. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Fundamental Baptist Church for the Windcrest Camp Fund or to the charity of choice.
Jack Hilton Mason
MASON, Jack Hilton- It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Jack Hilton Mason of Saint John at the St. Joseph’s Hospital on Saturday October 11, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born 1934 in Saint John to the late Alan and Edna (Dobson) Mason. Jack worked as a Bartender for Gladstone and Valley Tavern for many years. He loved the outdoors, playing darts, bowling, horseshoes and spending time with family and friends. Jack was a devoted father, brother and friend, all who knew him will miss him terribly. He is survived by his daughters Patricia Juliano (Jamie), Jacqueline MacDonald, Rose Marie LeBlanc (Claude) ; son Anthony Bruce (Theresa) all of Saint John; daughters Juanita Wilson of Winnipeg, MN, Jeanne Morrissey and son Christopher Morrissey; brothers Gene and Gary both of Saint John; sisters June Thorne, Muriel Short (Leslie), Abbie Brown (Ronnie) and Diane “Honey” Summerville; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Jack was predeceased by his son-in-law David MacDonald; a brother Joseph and a sister Lorna Flowers.
