Mr. Devon Sanchez
May 24, 1989 - September 19, 2007
Unexpectedly, tragically, Devon was taken from us early morning, Sep. 19. He will forever remain in the hearts and memories of his parents George and Wendy Sanchez of Crofton, his sister Jessica, his grandparents Edme and Sabine Sanchez (Crofton), grandparents Steve and Dorothy Bayko (Courtney), many aunts, uncles, cousins, girlfriend Claire Fowler, and numerous friends.
Devon was born in Duncan and grew up in the close-knit community of Crofton. He went through life laughing, dancing, and embracing each moment. His quiet strength and integrity was combined with an infectious smile and fearless sense of adventure. The kind of man you would want by your side no matter what the circumstances. The kind who made you feel safe and protected, yet would bring such laughter and joy. He joined the Canadian Scottish Regiment, May 4 '06 because he wanted to make a difference. After graduating from Chemainus Secondary he attended Malaspina University in Nanaimo and received his Certificate to teach English Overseas. He decided to wait to go overseas and started working at Pacific Building Systems in Cobble Hill, at a job he enjoyed. A celebration of Devon's life will be held at New Life Community Baptist Church, 1939 Tzouhalem Road, Duncan, BC on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.
"...And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
Au revoir Devon
We love you
