THOMPSON, CECIL LEONARD
The funeral of Cecil L. Thompson, of Saint John, NB, was held on Thursday, April 3, 2008, in the chapel of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, where the service was conducted by Rev. Wally Corey; with Barry Snodgrass playing the organ. Daniel LeBlanc was the soloist. Among the numerous floral and spiritual tributes received by the Thompson family was one from: The Congregation of Full Gospel Assembly. Donations made in memory of Cecil were given to the Canadian Cancer Society; Romero House (NB); Heart and Stroke Foundation; Canadian Red Cross, St. Barnabas Cemetery Fund; Atlantic Missions Inc. including one from F.G.A. W.M.F., Luxor Shriners; and Lakewood Headstart including one from Stuart Jamieson MLA. Interment will take place in St. Barnabas Cemetery, Barnesville, in the spring. Cecil's family would like to thank the entire staff of Kennebec Manor for the excellent care he received during the past three years; all those who sent memorials, cards, and visited the funeral parlour; and a heartfelt thank you to the ladies of Full Gospel Assembly for the beautiful reception following the service. PIPER, RONALD RAY
Ronald Ray Piper went home to be with his Lord Monday, April 7, 2008 at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Perth Andover, N.B. He was born on June 12, 1951 to Reverends Garth Beecher Piper and Amber (Flemming) in Bath. He attended schools in Centreville and graduated from Centreville High School in 1969. He started farming right away, which was a love he learned from his grandfather, Fred Piper. He met and married his loving wife, Landi, on August 16, 1975. Eventually they had two daughters, Melody and Heidi. His daughters were one of his greatest prides. Anybody who knew Ronald, knew of his love for life. Always one to enjoy a good time and laugh, but he had a work ethic which was instilled in him from a young age. His life's passion was serving the Lord and Savior and doing all he could for the church. He was involved with the Bethel International Church, Inc. all his life. He started leading song service at his Dad's request at the age of 16. He has taught Sunday School, both youth and adult for at least 30 years. He has been on the church board, trustee, lay pastor, and for the past two years and currently was the Pastor. His love of potato farming is well known to all in the industry. He served on various boards, both Provincially and Federally. Recently, he was the chairman of Potatoes NB which he enjoyed immensely. His most recent undertaking was 'Technico Technologies' of Hoyt where he was Partner and Marketing Director. Five years ago Ronald started a new hobby. He started a collection of antique Massey Harris tractors, which he and his Dad were restoring. They enjoyed traveling the countryside, especially the back roads looking for them. He now has quite a collection of lawn ornaments. He was a former co-owner of County Tractors and Mountain View Packers of Florenceville, and Canusa Foods of Centreville. He is survived by his wife, Yolanda (Landi) Piper (Whittaker); and daughters, Melody of Knoxford and Heidi of New York City, NY; his father, Rev. Garth Piper; and his wife, Wanda (Fish) of Knoxford; his twin brother, Donald Piper from Knoxford; and his sister, Wanda (Doug) Lockhart of Bristol; several aunts, an uncle, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mom, Amber (Flemming) Piper in January of 1960; his stepmother, Fern (Dyer) Piper in October of 2003; his paternal grandparents (who helped in bringing him up) Fred & Ina Piper; and maternal grandparents, Herman and Vena Flemming. He was also predeceased by a special niece, Amber Piper. Forever Missed and Loved, Till we meet again!!!! Resting at the Knoxford Praying Band Church on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 2:00 PM from the Church, Rev. H.M. Lewis and Rev. O'LEARY, KEVIN BRITT
(1947-2008)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kevin O'Leary at his home in Kennebecasis Park on April 7, 2008, son of the late Constance (Britt) and Charles Hubert O'Leary; husband of Catherine Ann (Quinn) O'Leary and father to Daniel of Kennebecasis Park, NB, Justin of Kitchener, ON., Ryan (Cindy) of Grand Falls, NB, Cathleen of Kennebecasis Park, and loving "Poppy" to grandson Corie Ryan O'Leary of Kennebecasis Park. He leaves two sisters, Valerie and Colleen O'Leary of Kennebecasis Park; Uncle Philip O'Leary of Fredericton; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Michael. Kevin was born Sept 30, 1947 in Fredericton, N.B. He attended St Thomas University and later worked with the John Howard Society. For many years he has been employed by the Center for Youth Care Inc. in Saint John. Kevin was a man of few words but his concern and care for his clients spoke volumes. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus, Grand Bay-Westfield branch. Kevin enjoyed traveling, sports, in particular golf and his beloved Boston Bruins. He supported the sports endeavors of his children and was their number one fan, always there to cheer them on. Kevin was not only a father, a husband and a "Poppy"; he was a friend to his sons, daughter, grandson and wife. He will be sadly missed. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting hours on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Kevin's family invite friends and family to a Mass of celebration of his life to be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, on Friday, April 11th at 12:30 pm, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will follow at a later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Divine Mercy Catholic School or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Vincent Patrick Morrison
The death of Vincent Patrick Morrison of Miramichi, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the age of 88. Born in Newcastle, NB, Vincent was the son of the late Ronald and Lillian (McCullam) Morrison. Vincent was a Veteran of WW11, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10, Newcastle, and retired from the Post Office and Heath Steele Mines. Vincent is survived by one daughter, Joan Brunett (Stephen) of Bathurst, NB; two sons, Eric (Nancy) of Moncton, NB and Michael (Janice) of Derby, NB; three brothers, Louis (Frances), Bill (Agnes) and James all of Miramichi, NB; 11 Grandchildren, Douglas John Robichaud, Tammy, Lewis, Christopher, Jeffrey, Andrew Morrison, Stephanie Brunett, Robbie, Shawn Morrison, Angelia Goulet and Michelle Routledge; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one daughter, Carol Anne Morrison; three sisters, Agnes, Genevieve and Carmel; and four brothers, Charles, Joe, Raymond and Warren. Visitation was held at Bell's Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 Pm. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 12 Noon from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Organist Mary Butler assisted by St. Mary's Choir. The readings were read by Michael Morrison and Trudy Walsh. Active Pallbearers were: Shawn, Robbie, Gerald, David and Terry Morrison, Linton Worrell Honourary Pallbearers: Frank Kirk, Lawrence Burns, Keith Manderville, James Connell, Ron O'Brien, Percy Jagoe and Edward Jagoe. Burial followed in the church cemetery. In Vince's memory a donation may be made to the Veteran's Wing of the Miramichi Senior Citizen Home or the Canadian Cancer Society. Joan Catherine King
Joan King, wife of the late Philip King Jr., of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, and formerly of Douglastown, N.B., passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, Saturday, May 32, 2008 at the age of 67. Born in Chelmsford, N.B., on August 25, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Helen (McEvoy) and Lawrence Duthie, of Chelmsford, N.B. Joan was a seamstress for many years and had also been employed at Russell's Grocery and Nea's Handy Stand for 19 years before her retirement. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family, as well as her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She was friendly and outgoing with a terrific sense of humour and sharp wit. Joan will be greatly missed by her daughter, Lisa Esty and son-in-law, Glenn, of Russellville, N.B.; son, Paul King, of Ontario, James King (Yolanda), of B.C.; four grandchildren; Dylan Esty, of Russellville; Mathew King of Miramichi; Jordan and Michael King of B.C.; three sisters, Opal Williamson (the late Paul), Bernice Egers (Ralph Campbell), of Blackville, N.B., Edwina McDonald (Bud) of Miramichi, N.B.; mother-in-law, Margaret King of Miramichi, N.B.; two sisters-in-law, Vera Duthie (Hugh Kirkpatrick), and Ella Marie Richard (Robert); several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, and her husband, Phil, she is predeceased by an infant son and daughter;a brother, Clayton; and father-in-law, Philip King Sr. Visitation was held at the Northumberland Funeral Home, on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 2-4 and 7-9 and on Wednesday, June 4th, from 2-4 and 7-9, Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, June 5th at 12 noon at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Readings were done by Joan's niece, Jodey Bannister, and Michelle Roy, family friend. Organist, Mary Butler, sang and accompanied St. Mary's Senior Choir with the hymns, "Here I am Lord", "Gentle Woman", "Be Not Afraid", "Songs of the Angels", "Songs of the Angels", and "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers were : Joe McGrath, Hugh Kirkpatrick, Bud McDonald, Robert Bannister, Ralph Campbell, and Robert Richard. Burial followed in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Northumberland Funeral Home, Miramichi, telephone 622-7741.

Middle River: Alphee Pitre of Middle River passed away at Chaleur Regional Hospital Bathurst, on July 8, 2008, at the age of 70. He was the son of the late John Pitre and late Marie Aube. He is survived by two daughters, Suzanne, Montreal and Linda, St. Anne; two sons, Junior, Miramichi and Adrien, St. Anne; three brothers, Georges (Vivian), St. Anne, Richard (Patricia), Taber, Alta and Leo (Paula), Cornwall; five sisters, Anita (late Cyprien) Poirier, Atikokan, Ont, Brigitte (Raymond) Gosselin, Atikokan, Ont, Loraine (Alain) Gravel, Sherbrooke, Que, Simonne (Roger) Daigle, Ottawa, Anna (Don) Bertin, Beresford and Yvonne (Georges) Saulnier, Beresford; a brother-in-law, Emile (late Jeannette) Comeau, Wickham, NB. He was predeceased by a son, Dorian. Funeral mass was held at St. Nom de Jesus, Church in Beresford on Saturday July 12, 2008, Funeral Arrangements were in care of Verret Funeral Home, Bathurst.
Edmond Aubé Beresford
Edmond Aubé, husband of Dorine Haché, 90, of Beresford, passed away, July 6, 2008 at The Chaleur Regional Hospital to Bathurst. Born in Beresford, he was the son of late Wilbrod Aubé and late Joséphine Doucet. Edmond worked on his farm for most of his life. He also worked as a security guard at the Brunswick Smelter in Belledune for 17 years. Besides his loving wife of 69 years, his children who miss him survive Edmond: five sons, Wilbrod (Sonja) Aubé of Hamilton Ont, Clément (Yvette) Aubé, Eric (Wendy) Aubé, all of Beresford, Roger (Pierrette) Aubé of Dunlop, Robert (Denise) Aubé of Tremblay; three daughters, Angéla Aubé, Rachel (Clarence Légère) all of Beresford and Nicole (Jim Pickard) of Bathurst; 20 grandchildren and their spouses, 14 great grandchildren, two sons-in-law; Donald Poirier and Vernon Card, one daughter-in-law; Pauline Frenette. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, John, Edgar, Ernest, Albert and Samuel and his sisters, Sr. Imelda ndsc, Sr. Ernestine ndsc, Mae, Opal. Visitations were held at Heritage Funeral Home (www.mfheritage.com), Beresford. Funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday July 9, 2008 from Saint-Nom de Jésus church in Beresford. Burial was in the parish cemetery. In memory of Edmond, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Arnolda White Beresford
Mrs. Arnolda White, 71, wife of Armand White, of Beresford, passed away Thursday July 10, 2008 at the Chaleur regional hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Beresford, she was the daughter of late Charles Christie and late Bertha Duguay. Besides her husband, she is survived by: two sons, Harold White (Donna Thibodeau) of Beresford, and Nelson White (Brenda Mazerolle) of Bathurst; two daughters, Anne Roy (Jeannot) of Alcida and Suzanne White of Beresford; two brothers, Charles Christie of Bathurst and William "Billy" Christie of Montreal; two sisters, Isabelle Christie (Gilles Allaire) of Montreal and Bertha Chouinard of Montreal; six grandchildren, Greg, Shawn, Jessica, Joleen, Nathan and Nathasha; several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by brothers, Paul, Lawrence, Adolphe, Samuel, Richard and Fernand. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 4:30 from Eglise St-Nom de Jesus of Beresford. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
